Russian dance group, DANCE CRAFT. Contribution to ‘Doverie’ Fund. Student performance at concert finale. The ‘Love Moscow’ Charity Concert 2012 was held at the Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel on the 31st of March, and saw 700 attendees. This charity concert is one of three concerts under the ‘Love Russia’ movement, a movement that aims to create a sense of awareness amongst the students regarding the needs and challenges present in society today and how everyone can make a difference. The concert, themed ‘Because Of You’, successfully raised a total of 150,000 rubles (RM15,000) for ‘Trust’ Charity Fund, a non-profit organization that provides basic support and assistance to individuals and families facing struggles and challenges in society. Another 50,000 rubles (RM5,000) was raised for a local poverty stricken family of four children. The concert began with an opening act by two Malaysian medical students, impressing the audience with their powerful vocals in an Adele medley. The audience was later entertained by a music battle between a Malaysian pianist and a Russian violinist; performing a Page 1 number of classical pieces such as ‘Fantasie Impromptu’ by Chopin, ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ by Rachmaninoff and Vivaldi’s ‘4 Seasons’. The crowd reacted with loud cheers as the performers wowed them with their musical skill and showmanship. Other performances included the Russian rock band, NUTEKI with their electrifying songs off their new album, and 2 professional dance crews, SAVED and DANCE CRAFT, both delivering upbeat and energetic performances. Appreciation cer tificates were also handed out to the 41 teams of Malaysian Fellowship’s Humanitarian Missions in 2011, which consisted of a total of 500 volunteers to who went to 11 countries in Asia and impacted approximately 25,000 people. Andrew Kok, the director of Malaysian Fellowship came on stage to inspire and challenge future doctors to make a difference by giving to those who can never give back, to serve those who are poor and in need, and above all, to show genuine love , concer n and social responsibility to all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity and gender. Russian rock band, NUTEKI. Back in Moscow for the second time, Malaysian Idol singing coach, Juwita Suwito amazed the audience with two inspiring songs, ‘Leading Change’ and ‘Every Little Smile’. Featured at the concert was also Malaysian-born superstar, Rynn Lim with his hit singles ‘Kao An’ and ‘Kan Wu Nv’, leaving the crowd wanting for more. He also performed a duet of the song ‘Melodi’ with Juwita. The concert came to a close as a group of Malaysian student performers united with Juwita on stage once more to sing Michael Jackson’s classic, ‘We Are The World’ in multiple languages. Indeed, the concert made an impact in the lives of many. Over 150 people signed up for MF Humanitarian Missions 2012, pledging to give their time to serve the community in the upcoming summer holidays.
