Punta Cana, the easternmost tip of the
Dominican Republic, abutting the Caribbean
Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, is a region known
for its white-sand beaches and clear waters.
The Bavaro area and Punta Cana combine
to form what's known locally as La Costa del
Coco, or the Coconut Coast.
As most NexTourists know, an all-inclusive
resort on beautiful Bavaro Beach is a top
choice for a cold weather week in the sun!
The adults-only Secrets Royal Beach Resort is
a property we NexTourists haven’t yet tried,
but it’s part of the Secrets brand so we are
sure you’ll like it.
The resort is close to the Cocotal Golf Course
and Palma Real Shopping Village…but, really,
you may not want to leave its luxurious
premises during our week there! As at any
all-inclusive resort, at Secrets Royal Beach your
meals are included, but the caliber of the cuisine
at the International Buffet, Gohan Sushi Bar,
Oceana Seafood restaurant and Portofino
Italian restaurant is several cuts above the
ordinary. As at any Secrets resort, there are
no annoying wrist bands, and you don’t have
to make dinner plans a week in advance
because no dinner reservations are taken.
Some resort facilities are shared with the
NOW Larimar resort which abuts Secrets.
(Both resorts are owned by AMResorts).
Secrets guests may also drink or dine at the
nine restaurants and eleven bars and lounges

next door (but the family friendly NOW
patrons may not use Secrets’ facilities). The
theater, casino and spa are at the NOW resort,
a short stroll away from your room.

If you tire of relaxing after a couple of days, or
get antsy to discover and explore, then this
getaway to Grenada is for you! Visit the ‘Spice
Isle’ with us next February when we’ll stay at
a resort which is a short taxi or bus ride away
from the island’s capital, St. George’s.

Dubbed the ‘Spice Isle’ long ago, hilly Grenada
is 120 sq. miles and is home to numerous
nutmeg plantations, which may be visited
on an organized tour. Grenada produces
one third of the world’s nutmeg supply, and
cloves, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, cocoa,
and mace grow in abundance.
Grenada’s volcanic origin has produced a
landscape of great beauty and variety, ranging
from mountainous rainforest to dry lowlands
and coastal mangrove swamps. Springs,
streams and waterfalls abound, and crater
lakes mirror the sky. The sea coasts are
indented with bays and beaches, some with
black volcanic sand, some white, and some
black and tan.
Our hotel is on beautiful Grand Anse Beach,
which lies along the southwestern coast of
Grenada. This two-mile stretch of creamy
white sand overlooks a sheltered, azure-hued
bay dotted with bright red and yellow fishing
boats. Those who visit St. George’s will find
colorful homes, Georgian buildings and the
early 18th century Fort George, all overlooking
narrow Carenage Harbour.
Taking a tour or renting a car is an excellent
way to explore the island's plantation houses
and distilleries. Watch sugar cane being
crushed the old-fashioned way, by waterpowered machinery, at the River Antoine Rum
Distillery in St. Andrew's. The idyllic Belmont
Estate in the green hills of St. Patrick's is
suffused with the scent of fermenting cocoa
beans; learn how chocolate is made, and try

St. George's Market Square. Our beach’s sugary
sands are said to be the island’s best, but
beaches such as La Sagesse, Magazine Beach
and Levera give Grand Anse a run for its money.
The Radisson Grenada Beach Resort on
Grand Anse Beach will be our home for a week.
The hotel has 20 acres of landscaped grounds,
fine on-site dining, free Wi-Fi, 1,200 feet of
beautiful white-sand beachfront and nightly
entertainment. Relax in two whirlpools and
spend time splashing in the 300 foot freeform swimming pool which features two
waterfalls. The Radisson’s convenient location
in the heart of Grand Anse makes it easy to
experience activities and attractions like scuba
diving, hiking and exploring the rainforests of
Grand Etang National Park.

Radisson Grenada Beach Resort This modern
229-room resort has the amenities you expect at
a four-star resort: 1,200 feet of beachfront, a fitness
center, a pool, two whirlpool tubs, two restaurants,
24-hour room service, four bars, and landscaped
gardens.
Choose a garden room and you’ll overlook the lush
tropical garden from your furnished balcony or
patio. A beachfront room has the same amenities
and an ocean view, steps away from the beach.

Grand Bahama – Old Bahama Bay
The Bahamas is a coral-based archipelago in
the Atlantic comprised of 700 islands and cays
that range from uninhabited to resort-packed.
The northernmost, Grand Bahama, is our
island destination for a quick getaway in late
February. The archipelago is an ecological
oasis that boasts the clearest water on the
planet—with a visibility of over 200 feet in
places. You can see the world’s third largest
barrier reef as easily as you can see your toes.
NexTour has discovered a gem of a resort for you
at the west end of the island: the Old Bahama
Bay Resort and Yacht Harbor. After our flight
lands in early afternoon we’ll drive to this bit
of paradise, which has a barefoot-elegance
ambiance and a remote, out-island feel.
The resort has only 70 suites to rent, and a
72-slip marina alongside, so you’ll relax on
your patio or veranda and experience the
calm and quiet that a small hotel provides.
All rooms are junior suites; they are in pastelcolored two story buildings which are just
steps from the white-sand beach and pool.
Each suite has a sitting area, a kitchenette
and a furnished balcony or terrace with your
choice of ocean or pool view.
While you’re at Old Bahama Bay, take time to
do the things that say vacation to you: fish,
snorkel, kayak, sail, paddle board, swim (of
course, ‘do nothing at all’ is a great option, too).
Use of non-motorized water sports equipment
and bicycles is complementary. At the
Activities Hut on the beach you can learn about
all the activities at the resort and around the
island. They will hook you up with sport fishing,
bird watching, golfing or a dolphin encounter.
One day, our NexTour group will venture on an
included excursion for some shopping, a meal,
and a brewery visit.
The resort’s 4,000 sq. ft. double-level pool
features a lounge area with massage jets.
Although you won’t find nightly entertainment
here, stroll through the marina at sunset,
explore the local roads on a resort bike, or
stake out a hammock in mid-afternoon.
Simple pleasures.
Want to explore Grand Bahama Island on your
own? It’s easy. Car rental is available in West
End; English is the official language of The
Bahamas (the local dialect and idioms can be
fun to interpret); and US dollars are accepted
as payment locally.
There are two restaurants at Old Bahama Bay.
The Dockside Bar & Grille serves dinner, and
Teaser’s Tiki Bar serves light snacks, breakfast and
lunch. If you decide to use your kitchenette
for some meals, the marina store carries basic
supplies; the closest grocery store is just
outside Freeport.
If you are overwhelmed (or underwhelmed)
by big all-inclusive resorts, Old Bahama Bay
could be the find-of-a-lifetime for those seeking
sun, sand, relaxation, and peace and quiet.

Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbor, Grand
Bahama Island offers just 70 junior suites in several
buildings which are steps from the beach or pool.
Resort facilities include two restaurants, a fitness
center, spa services on request, an activities hut, car
rental, pool, and a beautiful beach.
Suites are located in two-story buildings. Some
ocean view suites also provide views of the yacht
basin and the West End sunsets with more limited
ocean views. Ocean and pool view suites have one
king bed plus a sleep sofa in the sitting area.
Oceanfront suites offer direct beach access and
ocean views, and have a choice of one king or two
queen beds. Each suite is 550 sq. feet, and has a
kitchenette, sitting area, complimentary wireless
internet, balcony or terrace and a washer/dryer.

Niagara-on-the-Lake – The Play’s the Thing
If plays are your thing, consider this delightful tour to the charming flowerbedecked Ontario town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. We’ll catch three Shaw
Festival productions and have two mornings free to shop, explore Fort
George, stroll through the historic district or take a horse-drawn carriage
ride! Our first day includes lunch at the revolving restaurant atop the
Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls on our transfer to our hotel. The musical
Sweet Charity and the plays Pygmalion, and You Never Can Tell are included; the latter is one of Bernard
Shaw’s most light-hearted comedies.

Adirondack Park, created in 1892 is a six-millionacre mountain landscape full of pristine waterways,
boreal forests and the towering Adirondack
Mountains. It is the largest protected wilderness
area east of the Mississippi but also home to 105
towns and villages, and we leaf-peepers will visit
several charming towns while touring the area
in pursuit of colorful fall foliage. In Lake Placid
we’ll visit the town, the home of ‘The Miracle
on Ice’, and the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex.
We’ll spend a bit of time in Saranac Lake before
boarding the Adirondack Scenic Railroad for a
45-minute ride through autumn-robed forests,
past sparkling rivers, and past tranquil ponds and
streams. We’ll stop at Oktoberfest in the town of
Lake George, and in Glens Falls we’ll tour the
Hyde Collection which showcases an art collection
ranging from the Old Masters to contemporary
artists. Saratoga Springs is a historic town known
for its natural springs and thoroughbred racing
history—you may visit the National Museum
of Racing and Hall of Fame, explore downtown
Saratoga Springs’ charming shops and art galleries
or stroll through the neighborhoods of historic
houses which cluster around Broadway St.
Just as alluring as the Adirondacks in fall is The
Sagamore Resort which is on an island in Lake
George. The Sagamore opened its doors in 1883
offering accommodations that attracted a select,
monied clientele. A hundred years later it was
restored, complete with clapboard siding and
classic Victorian architecture. The hotel decor
is contemporary and Adirondack-inspired, and
rooms are either lake or garden view. Because it is
a resort and because we’ll be in residence on the
Columbus Day holiday weekend, The Sagamore
offers a multitude of special activities such as
campfires, movie nights, a history talk, craft
sessions, and special shows. As a group we’ll
cruise Lake George on The Morgan, The Sagamore’s
72-foot replica of a 19th century touring vessel. This tour is a nice combination of touring and
relaxation set against the fall foliage of the

Big Bend and Carlsbad Caverns – a Pair of National Parks
Outdoor enthusiasts take note: two unique national parks are included! Big
Bend National Park situated on the Mexican border along the Rio Grande
River and Carlsbad Caverns National Park. There is no comparison between
these caverns your standard tourist caves, which is why Carlsbad is a
national park. Along the way we’ll traverse a scenic highway which follows
the Rio Grande through some of the remotest land in the country. In Big
Bend we’ll stay in the park at Chisos Mountain Lodge. We’ll also stay in Alpine, TX; El Paso, TX; and
Carlsbad, MN. A stop at Fort Davis will be interesting to American history buffs.

The Mediterranean – Athens to Monte Carlo on Azamara

Two nights in Athens is the prelude to an 11-night cruise aboard the
all-inclusive Azamara Journey. We’ve included tours of Athens, Corinth
and Kehries in Greece; the ship’s ports of calls include Crete, Malta, Sicily,
Sorrento, Civitavecchia (Rome), Livorna (Florence & Pisa) and Monte Carlo.
An Azamara hallmark, the ship will overnight in Sorrento, Livorno and

A Star Clipper Caribbean Adventure

The Star Clipper, a 170 passenger 4-masted clipper ship departs St. Maarten
for a seven day voyage which includes ports and beaches unable to be
visited by larger cruise ships. Several of our stops will be in the BVI’s: Virgin
Gorda, Jost Van Dyke Island and Soper’s Hole. We’ll also drop anchor at
Road Bay, Anguilla; Gustavia, St. Barts; and Basseterre, St. Kitts. When the
wind allows, these ships hoist sail (passengers may help!) and glide quietly
to the next anchorage. Climb up to the Crows Nest via rope ladder for a panoramic view, or relax in the
Widow’s Net which spreads out like a porous blanket ahead of the bow. Bring your best pair of shorts
and a bathing suit…that’s almost all that is required!

9. If you do not purchase air through NexTour you may be responsible for your own airport transfer arrangements and cost.
10. Hotels of similar quality may be substituted if necessary.
11. Higher cancellation fees may be charged to a member who cancels before final payment, and is sharing
accommodation, if the club is required to pay a single supplement for the remaining member.
12. Every effort has been made to reflect accurate pricing information herein, however, should a substantial error have been made, NexTour reserves the right to correct the error by increasing the tour price or canceling the tour and refunding all payments made by members.
Note A: For all tours, upon return to Detroit Metro Airport, a walk of approximately ½ mile may be required to get to
the transfer shuttle.
Physical Ability Note B: (applies to some tours as specified in tour proposal) This tour requires a fair amount of walking
over uneven surfaces. If you have trouble walking, please consider another tour as we will not be able to assist you
during the tour.
