From the starting point head towards Sa Coma, following the signs along Avinguda Baladres and Avinguda Savines. Continue along the latter avenue until you come to a stop sign in S’Illot. Turning to the left you come to the Talayotic Settlement of S’Illot, one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. It is open to the public and the tour includes the Visitor Centre which helps you to understand the site. Return to Avinguda Savines, cross the Can Amer torrent that divides the municipalities of Manacor and Sant Llorenç and continue in the direction of Cala Morlanda – Porto Cristo. From the former, a small holiday resort, continue along the road in the direction of Porto Cristo until you come to the cycle lane that runs from the main road (PMV–4023) to the town. Porto Cristo is famous for its natural harbour and the caves you can visit 360 days a year. Go down to the port to enjoy the wonderful views. This inland Mallorcan town is a good place to take a break. You can visit the church and enjoy some of the traditional products of the area, including coques (pastries) topped with apricots, vegetables or trampó (a kind of Mallorcan salad). After a rest, you can continue the route back to Cala Millor. Head out of the town and after about 500 metres take the track to the left signposted as Camí dels Molins. After going up and down a few hills and about 3 kilometres turn right onto Camí de Cas Canonge. Here you have to cross the Sa Torre Nova road that goes to Cala Millor and continue on Camí de Na Gatera, to the right after 200 metres. This track is not paved and you have to cycle with care. Without leaving it you come to the Porto Cristo – Son Servera road, which you cross and then continue along the track to the right alongside some apartments. This track connects to Carrer Alzina and Avinguda Savines in Sa Coma. From there you can return to the starting point in Cala Millor by following the signs in the town. Cala Millor – Cap des Pinar Difficulty: Low Itinerary: Cala Millor – Sa Coma – S’Illot – Son Carrió – Cala Millor From the starting point follow the signs that lead you to the resort of Sa Coma. At Avinguda de Ses Palmeres turn to the left and, almost straight after, to the right along Avinguda de ses Savines until you come to the stop sign, already in the built – up area of S’Illot. Turning to the left you come to the Talayotic Settlement of S’Illot, one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. It is open to the public and its Visitor Centre will help you understand the site. To return to the itinerary, after the stop sign turn right to reach the roundabout on the Son Servera – Porto Cristo road (PMV–4023) and This is a good time to have a rest and visit the church of Sant Miquel. We also recommend the Mallorcan pastry specialities made by the town’s bakers: coques, ensaïmades, panades and cocarrois. Itinerary: Cala Millor – Port Vell – Son Servera – Cala Millor From Son Carrió the itinerary continues towards the coast along Camí de Sa Torre Nova. This is a very busy road, so please cycle with care. When you reach the roundabout you can see the profiles of the hotels in Cala Millor and Sa Coma. Turn left and you start to descend the Camí de Son Moro, which takes you back to your starting point. End: Cala Millor Tourist Information Office (Plaça Eureka) Distance: 11.85 km Difficulty: Low From the starting point follow the cycle lane that runs along Cala Millor seafront promenade as far as Cala Bona. Continue straight ahead in the direction of Costa dels Pins. You soon pass a Mallorcan – style residential estate known as Port Verd on the right. In the same direction and also to the right is an old summer residential area known as Port Nou. You come to a bridge where a sign indicates the way to Son Servera; turn left (PMV–4034) and this rather narrow road takes you to the town. Son Servera is an inland locality that includes part of Cala Millor, as well as Cala Bona and Costa dels Pins. Follow the signs to reach the town centre where you’ll find the church, the town hall and some typical bars. The weekly street market is on Friday mornings. You can return to Cala Millor by taking the cycle lane that begins at Avinguda Constitució, next to the Son Servera Tourist Information Office. From Son Carrió continue along the road in the direction of Sant Llorenç (PMV–4021) and then turn right onto Camí de Son Berga, which will take you to the road that goes to Sant Llorenç (PMV–4022). Enter the town going under the railway bridge and, after passing a stop sign, turn to the left in the direction of Manacor. Take the main street through the town in the direction of Artà and, after 400 metres, on the left you come to the road that takes you to the Volta per Infern, which is signposted as Camí de Calicant PMV–3323. Without detouring from main route, pass by the Calicant crossroads and continue north until you link up with the Camí de Sos Ferrers, after a section of road in poor condition. Sa Talaia, Es Pou, Sa Carbonera. At Km 25.8 you come to another crossroads (PMV–2034). Take the road to the right, Camí de Ses Planes i Sa Begura. Follow it to Sant Llorenç without making any detours. Once in the town you have to take the Artà road and after 400 metres turn onto the narrow road on the right that takes you to Carrer del Pou. Turn left onto the Camí de Son Vives, the estate you will see on the right on a small hill. Pass it by and at the next crossroads, with a “give way” sign at Km 37 on the route, turn to the right until you reach the Son Servera to Sant Llorenç road (PM–403). Cross this busy main road with great care and take the track right in front of you, the Camí de Ses Talaies. This asphalted track runs between cultivated fields and the estate of the same name and, after making some zigzags, arrives at Son Carrió. From here just follow the Sa Torre Nova road, as you did at the beginning of the itinerary, and it will take you back to Cala Millor. This track is about 6 kilometres long and, after crossing the Sa Gruta track, it takes you to the Son Carrió – Manacor road (PMV–4021). At this crossroads turn to the right and after a little more than a kilometre you come to Son Carrió. End: Cala Millor Tourist Information Office. Av. Badia de Llevant, 2 continue in the direction of Son Carrió (PMV–4021). This is a road with a lot of twists and turns and some steep hills. The countryside here is one of dryland farming -almond groves and fig and carob trees- and, in the background, the town of Son Carrió, which you find yourself entering before you know it. Distance: 16,64 km Difficulty: Low Itinerary: Cala Millor – Costa dels Pins – Cap des Pinar – Cala Millor From the starting point follow the cycle lane that runs along Cala Millor’s seafront promenade as far as Cala Bona. Continue straight ahead in the direction of Costa dels Pins. You soon pass a collection of holiday villas on the right known as Port Verd. There are beautiful views from here. After a short time you come to the Costa dels Pins area where you will see Sa Marjal Beach on the right and a little further on to your left part of the Son Servera Golf Club. Continue straight ahead along Avinguda del Pinar. After you pass the Golf Punta On the way back, take a break in Cala Bona and enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the many café terraces while you soak up the atmosphere of the fishing harbour. Follow the cycle lane back to your starting point. Places of interest: • Cap des Pinar lookout point • Cala Bona harbour Distance: 43.95 km Difficulty: Medium Itinerary: Cala Millor – Son Servera – Artà – Canyamel – Son Servera – Cala Millor From the starting point go up Avinguda Joan Servera Camps to the start of Cala Millor on the cycle route. At the second roundabout head in the direction of Capdepera – Artà on the bypass until you reach the PM–404 road. At the next crossroads turn left in the direction of Artà (PM–4041). You pass the Es Rafalet estate where the road climbs steeply. After a while you begin to see the mediaeval outline of Artà with the church and shrine of Sant Salvador standing out at the highest point of the town. In Artà you can take a break in the town centre and visit the Artà Regional Museum or the Ses Païsses Talayotic Settlement. Back on the main road you head in the direction of Canyamel (PM–4042) and at the roundabout with the Son Servera – Cala Rajada road (PM–404) continue straight ahead until you reach the town of Canyamel. You soon come to Canyamel Tower that was built in the 13th century to defend the town and is well worth a visit. Follow the signs to the beach, where you cross a small bridge, taking care to avoid the pedestrians. On the other side of the torrent continue up the coast to the right until you come to the Caves of Artà, from where you have marvellous views of the sea and the cliffs. Following the itinerary, turn back, but this time take the PM–4042 road, passing the Canyamel golf course, until you come back to the roundabout on the Capdepera road (PM–404). Turn in the direction of Son Servera, continue along the road and climb to the Coll dels Vidriers pass (120 m) (you can avoid the climb by going through the tunnel). From the top of the pass you have a fine panoramic view of the towns of Capdepera and Son Servera. Return to Cala Millor by taking the Son Servera bypass. Cross this busy road with great care and follow the track right in front of you, the Camí de Ses Talaies. This paved track takes you through cultivated fields and past the farm it is named after to Son Carrió. Distance: 43.72 km Difficulty: Medium Itinerary: Cala Millor – Son Servera – Artà – Sant Llorenç – Cala Millor This cycling itinerary complements the Artà (Canyamel) and Sant Llorenç (Volta per Infern) routes and can be combined with either to make a longer ride. From the starting point head towards Son Servera on the PMV–4023 road, passing through the town centre to reach the outskirts in the direction of Palma or Manacor. At the roundabout with the Capdepera road (PM–404) turn off in the direction of Artà on the so – called “Rentadors” road (PMV–4031), named after the old public washing facilities and the animal drinking trough. This road has some steep climbs and sharp bends. Link up with the Artà to Sant Llorenç road (Ma – 15), from where you can see the Morro den Ferrutx and the town of Artà, where you can rest or visit some of the recommended places of interest. Returning to the route, continue along the road in the direction of Can Picafort and, after a short time, turn onto Camí de Carrossa or Sos Fulles (Ma – 3334) that takes you to Sant Llorenç. Please take great care as the road surface is in poor condition here.
