THE VIBE MACHINE
I purchased my VIBE machine in July
2002. I had two lumps in my right breast,
one nickle size, one dime size. I also had
several smaller lumps and lesions. I began
using my machine one minute per
day.Within two weeks my energy level
tripled. I went in for another biopsy at the
end of July. My Physcian confirmed that I
had only one pea-sized lump left. I used
no other cancer treatments and am glad I
used this machine rather than having the
radical mastectomy. In August, I went in
for a mammogram and they found my
breast free of cancer. ºHow fortunate that
the Readership of The Connection
Magazine has a VIBE machine in the are
available for their use!

BIOPRO – Anti EMF Technology
I am so thankful for discovering the
BioPro harmonizing chips for my cell

Also, I also got the harmonizing plug to

pervasive EMFs in our society—and,
therefore, protect ourselves from cancer.

ImmPower – AHCC
™
®
Japan's best selling immune enhancing supplement now available in the U.S.
In 1984, Japanese scientists discovered that
by hybridizing several mushrooms used in
traditional healing they could develop a natural
compound that would give the body what it needs
to maintain "super immunity." Named Active
Hexose Correlated Compound (AHCC®), it has a
unique alpha-1, 4 glucan structure and low
molecular weight that research shows provides
unsurpassed support for the immune system's
front-line defenses:*
■ Maintaining peak Natural Killer cell function*
■ Supporting enhanced cytokine production*
■ Promoting optimal T-cell and macrophage
activity*
Natural Killer (NK) cells are your
immune system's front-line defense.
They inject invaders with cytotoxic
granules, granule lysis dissolve
cell membrane causing invaders to
"explode" in seconds.
Based on over 20 published studies and the
clinical experience of hundreds of hospitals and
tens of thousands of consumers, AHCC has
become Japan's best selling immune enhancing
supplement. Now it’s available in America as
ImmPower™ AHCC® where its gaining the
endorsement of leading experts
in nutritional medicine.
Compare and switch
from the popular immune
enhancing supplements
with little or no independent research to
ImmPower –– AHCC.
■ Better research*
■ Better results*
■ Less expensive than
other immune
enhancing supplements.

Congress Selling Out the Internet
D
O YOU BUY books online, use Google,
or download to an Ipod? These activities,
plus MoveOn’s online organizing ability,
will be hurt if Congress passes a radical law that
gives giant corporations more control over the
Internet.
Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon
are lobbying Congress hard to gut Network
Neutrality, the Internet’s First Amendment. Net
Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which
websites open most easily for you based on which
site pays AT&T more. Amazon doesn’t have to
outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more
properly on your computer.
If Net Neutrality is gutted, MoveOn either pays
protection money to dominant Internet providers or
risks that online activism tools don’t work for members. Amazon and Google either pay protection
money or risk that their websites process slowly on
your computer. That is why these high-tech pioneers
are joining the fight to protect Network
Neutrality1—and you can do your part today.
The free and open Internet is under seige—
can you sign this petition letting your member of
Congress know you support preserving Network
Neutrality?
Click
here:
www.civic.moveon.org/save_the_internet
Then, please forward this to 3 friends.
Protecting the free and open Internet is fundamental—it affects everything. When you sign this
petition, you’ll be kept informed of the next steps
we can take to keep the heat on Congress. Votes
begin in a House committee next week.
MoveOn has already seen what happens
when the Internet’s gatekeepers get too much
control. Just last week, AOL blocked any email
mentioning a coalition that MoveOn is a part of,
which opposes AOL’s proposed “email tax.” And
last year, Canada’s version of AT&T—Telus—
blocked their Internet customers from visiting a
website sympathetic to workers with whom Telus
was negotiating.
Politicians don’t think we are paying attention to this issue. Many of them take campaign
checks from big telecom companies and are on the
verge of selling out to people like AT&T’s CEO,
who openly says, “The internet can’t be free.”
Together, we can let Congress know we are
paying attention. We can make sure they listen to
our voices and the voices of people like Vint Cerf,
a father of the Internet and Google’s “Chief Internet
Evangelist,” who recently wrote this to Congress in
support of preserving Network Neutrality:
My fear is that, as written, this bill would do
great damage to the Internet as we know it.
Enshrining a rule that broadly permits network
operators to discriminate in favor of certain kinds
of services and to potentially interfere with others
would place broadband operators in control of
online activity...Telephone companies cannot tell
consumers who they can call; network operators
should not dictate what people can do online.
The essence of the Internet is at risk—can
you sign this petition letting your member of
Congress know you support preserving Network
Neutrality?

“Yours was the third Past Lives training I attended and the first one I left with the
confidence that I could really do this on my own. Your clear, concise, step-by-step
approach de-mystifies the regression process and makes it amazingly easy to do. Count
me in on all your other trainings. P.S. I also (and finally) resolved a stubborn personal
issue that has plagued me for most of my life and that had resisted change from the more
traditional therapies.”

Prior training or experience in Hypnotherapy is not required for attendance. All
students will be taught hypnotic techniques specific to Past Life Regression & Therapy.

Here are a few things that everyone
should know about sitting.
lane flights: When on a plane,
take one of the plane pillows (or
fold the plane blanket into a
square) and place it on the seat-bottom. Then pull your pillow forward a
couple of inches before sitting down
on it. This keeps your spine from being jammed by the rear edge of the
airplane’s cushion. Airplane cushions
are designed to be flotation devices,
and therefore have very little ergonomic value. The little lift you will
give your bum will keep you seated
on the “sit-bones” (the ilium bones)
rather than sitting on your tailbone (the
spine). When you have pressure on the
spine while seated, your craniosacral
rhythm is stopped-down (decreasing
your vitality), your discs are more
pressurized, and your nerves can get
irritated.

Sitting in general:
Improper sitting is a big
cause of misalignments
in the spine. Stay seated
on your sit-bones by not
leaning back (as in a
soft couch, or seated in bed). Use pillow supports behind you if necessary
to stay upright. Otherwise the base of
the spine slumps into a malposition
that is hard for the body to correct on
its own. This one posture, the seatedleaning-backward slump (or the “recumbent” position) is the most common misalignment that people can prevent on their own. (Avoid recumbent
exercise equipment, too.)
More on sitting: The body was
not designed to sit on chairs. Primitive
people crouch or sit in various positions
on the floor. The spine, therefore, is not
under direct pressure with a cushion
pushing up into the tailbone region.
For anyone who sits for any length of
time, I recommend to use a sacral cutout cushion. This gives a lift to the sitbones, yet leaves the spine free from
pressure. Because I think this is so
important, my office carries a goodlooking version of sacral cutout pillow
for far less than you can get at the pharmacy.
And more about sitting: If you sit
for long periods, get up or change position frequently. Changing your leg
position can do a lot to shift the weight
in your pelvis, giving relief to strained
ligaments. Try shifting forward on the
chair while tucking your feet under the
chair for a while, then shift back in
your chair and reach your legs forward
for a while. Ligaments have the ability to hold tight in one position for
about 10 to 12 minutes. Then they give
out and allow the bones to spread. If
you can stand up frequently, even
while still working, this will be better
on your ligaments and alignment. The
big exercise balls have pros and cons:
they keep your position potentially
moving around, which is great, however the apex of the ball tends to pressurize the spine more so than the sitbones, which is bad. I prefer the sacral cutout cushion as a solution.

2004 and more than $1000 million (one
billion) in 2005?
• Do you know how many more
millions ROCHE can earn in the coming months if the business of fear continues?
So the summary of the story is as follows:
Bush’s friends decide that the
medicine TAMIFLU is the solution for
a pandemic that has not yet occurred
and that has caused a hundred deaths
worldwide in 9 years.
This medicine doesn’t so much
as cure the common flu.
In normal conditions the virus
does not affect humans.
Rumsfeld sells the patent for
TAMIFLU to ROCHE for which they
pay him a fortune.
Roche acquires 90% of the global production of crushed aniseed, the
base for the antivirus.
The governments of the entire
world threaten a pandemic and then
buy industrial quantities of the product from Roche.
So we end up paying for medicine while Rumsfeld, Cheney and
Bush do the business.

Menopause:
A Holistic Approach
by Dr. Tonya L. Fleck &
Dr. Ruth Bar-Shalom
enopause—Some women
dread it, others welcome it.
For some, the advent of hot
flashes is mild and somehow anti-cathartic; for others, the symptoms are
debilitating.
While hot flushes are the most
common sign, many women experience debilitating states of depression
or anxiety, forgetfulness, loss of libido
and weight gain.
Why is one woman’s experience
so different from the next? In conventional medicine, Menopause is seen as
a change in female hormones. However, years ago a study was done comparing levels of hormones of Mayan
women, who do not suffer from Menopausal symptoms, with those of
American women. Researchers expected to see a significant difference
in patterns. In reality, the hormonal
levels of both groups where identical.
So what was different?
That leads us to the Holistic approach of viewing the entire person, not
just the symptoms.
It is important to look beyond just
sex hormones. For example, Adrenal
and Thyroid gland function, which
may be borderline low before menopause and greatly decrease afterwards;
Insulin levels; Liver Health, the capacity of the liver to properly metabolize hormones and detoxify; Intestinal
Health, as women with poor digestion
tend to have worse menopausal symptoms; Genetics, at what age did your
mom and/or sisters experience menopause and how?; the use of Medications (more elements to burden the
liver); and, of course, Personal Sensitivities such as pain threshold, sensitivity to changes in temperature, etc.
It is only when we recognize all
M
Dr. Ruth Bar-Shalom & Dr. Tonya L. Fleck
those elements (the system as a Whole)
that we can address menopause effectively. This explains why we use different herbs, homeopathic remedies
and nutritional support with different
women. In all cases, the treatment
supports healthy change and empowers women as they experience these
hormonal shifts.
It is common for women who
suffer from debilitating Menopausal
symptoms to find relief using Naturopathic Medicine. For those that experience only mild changes, when individualized diagnosis and treatment are
not necessary, we suggest herbal combinations of plants such as Black Cohosh (a phyto-estrogen), Wild Yam (a
phyto-progesterone), Melissa (a mild
nervine), Motherwort (liver aid) and/
or Vitex and Angelica to balance hormone levels.
Loss of bone mass is accelerated
in the first 2 years of Menopause, so a
good mineral combination containing
Calcium, Magnesium, Vit D, Vit K and
B6 is best insurance. I recommend all
my patients to have a baseline bone
density test if possible as they approach
menopause, and to have their blood
lipids (cholesterol and triglyceride levels) checked.
As we enter into our Menopausal
years, we also need to be conscious of
our heart health, as cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in women
over 50. Preventing disease is much
easier and more effective than reversing disease.
Last, but not least: have you loved
someone today? We don’t need research (although it’s being done) to let
us know that the happier we are, the
easier our bodies experience and can
handle transitions. Cherish your relationship and give yourself at least a few
moments every day to be grateful and
to experience love.

O
ne hundred million years ago,
volcanoes rose from the sea,
dividing continents, creating
mountains and forming much of the land
as we know it. As these volcanoes erupted,
molten lava and thick ash poured into the
sea. The combination of thick ash and the
salt from the sea caused a chemical reaction, and over thousands of years, precious
minerals like zeolites began to form in the
hardened lava.
What’s Zeolite & How Does It Work?
For centuries, the powdered forms of
specific zeolites have been used as traditional remedies throughout Asia to promote
overall health and well being. The story of
the “volcanic rocks” has been passed down
from generation-to-generation as more and
more people have experienced its lifechanging benefits.
Zeolites are natural volcanic minerals
with a unique, complex crystalline structure.
It’s honeycomb framework of cavities and
channels (like cages) works at the cellular
level trapping, heavy metals and toxins. In
fact, because it is one of the few negatively
charged minerals in nature, zeolites act as
magnets drawing toxins to it, capturing
them in its cage and removing them from
the body. It removes all heavy metals (like
mercury, fluoride, etc.) as well as pesticides,
herbicides, and all other toxins. It also make
the body inside Alkaline, which you must
be in order to be healthy and avoid disease.
How The Waiora Company Acquired
Natural Cellular Defense
A chemist in a small pharmaceutical
company in Ohio was intrigued by the powers of zeolites. He researched the mineral
and discovered that it provided amazing
results. He continued researching this amazing mineral, and applied for and was granted

a patent by the U.S. government.
This particular patented zeolite is only
found in the Natural Cellular Defense product offered by Waiora.
Key Benefits of Zeolite (in Natural Cellular Defense):

Magical Magnetic Mysterious Mother India
by Brian Haley
A
fter spending several weeks in the central region
of south India, I decided it was time to move on.
The next stop of the journey was Pondicherry. It
is a small coastal town, by India standards, nestled on
the south eastern shores of India, with its warm water,
humidly hot temperatures, and the ever so precious
warm and blustery evening breezes that blow in off the
wide open waters of the Bay of Bengal.
Pondi, as it is known around these parts, is an ex
French colony, and the evidence of that is everywhere.
There are many magnificent old French colonial buildings surrounded by massive ornate gates and gleaming
white columns and walls, which all seem to have a
well-maintained and sizeable garden just through the
front entrance. There’s even a central park with manicured lawns, a variety of tropical trees and bushes and,
of course, copious flowering plants. One can stroll
down the well planned streets and extra wide boulevards – courtesy of the original French designers – and
be amazed at how clean they are kept. This is a thing
of wonder only in contrast to the riot of dirt, ‘poo,’
and pollution that one encounters on any given Indian
street or road. In fact, one can make an impromptu and
interesting demographic study simply by strolling
from the beach front, where the original French part of
the town is, and head about five to six blocks west
until one enters the “Indian” section of town – from
order to chaos in just a few easy steps. But this chaos,
which has a strange way of taking on its own order, I
must hasten to add, is part of the alluring ‘charm’ of
India!
Although I enjoy Indian food a great deal, I was
ready to experience another thing Pondi is known for –
fine dining. I had giant prawns in a rich masala (spicy
Indian) sauce one night, and local fresh fish another
night; both meals including tasty side dishes and beer,
all for a grand total of $6, one evening, and $5, the second. This is really splurging by India standards, where meals generally range between 50
cents to $2. And these were both on beautiful
roof-top, terrace restaurants looking out over
the Bay of Bengal, sun going down behind us,
and soaking up the warm breezes blowing in off
the Bay.
I also took a day visit to Auroville, which
is just outside Pondicherry. This is a completely
planned village that was started by Sri
Aurobindo’s female partner,
The Mother, who built it based on his vision of
an advanced, environment friendly, multi-racial,
non-violent, humanitarian based community.
Truly noble ideas! If you’re interested in knowing more, please check it out online at
www.auroville.com
I’m off to cooler northern climes now —
Rishikesh and the Himalayas. As beautiful as
Pondi and the Bay of Bengal are, it is way too
hot and humid down south here for this fair
skinned guy from the temperate rain forest of
western Canada.

“Living with Passion
and Enthusiasm”
O
by Oceanna Guest
began my professional career in the healing
arts in 1979. My “calling” into the healing
profession began through a serious auto accident in 1974 when I was propelled through the
windshield of a car ending up in a coma with
multiple injuries, including my brain, head and
neck. Lucky to be alive, and not wanting to be
on pain medication and anti-convulsions the rest
of my life, I began to look for healthy ways to
find relief and healing. This process involved
years of exploration. A healer’s journey is never
easy because we must first start with our self.
In 2002 I faced another grave challenge to
my health. I was shocked to learn that the house
I was living in had toxic black mold. Black mold
is considered by many to be life threatening. I
was living a conscious healthy life-style, but my
health was in rapid decline. The medical community offered no hope. I was making very slow
progress with holistic measures, and the cost was
considerable. My partner and I hadn’t been able
to work for months, and my growing sense of
panic and despair was overwhelming. We are
both people who make prayer a part of our daily
lives. We felt we have learned the great truth of
always trusting that every dark cloud has its silver lining. This one was a big stretch for us, as
we continued to pray day and night while researching alternatives.
When I first heard about the V.I.B.E. machine (Vibrational Integrated Bio-photonic Energizer) my body got one of those chills of energy that shouted to pay attention and take notice. One of the things that drew me to the VIBE
was its simplicity. Oscillating the cells in the
body at a higher frequency so the body has the
energy it needs to heal itself just made perfect
sense. The VIBE machine not only affects the
physical body but the mind, emotions and spirit,
too. This seemed profoundly efficient—if not remarkable.
As I sat in front of this space age looking
machine for my first session, it was a stretch for
my mind to believe it could do so much in just a
few minutes. I felt this amazing pulsation of energy moving throughout my body.
Afterwards, my body felt very relaxed and
my thoughts were peaceful. The next day I awoke

As Barry and I were burying him,
I realized that I will remember Charley
for this love, passion, and constant enthusiasm right up until the end of his life.
Whenever one of our pets die, or someone close to us, we always talk about
their best qualities, and then commit to
bringing those specific qualities into our
own lives. Though my father had several handicaps towards the end of his life,
almost total deafness, crippled back and
weak heart, he kept on living life to the
fullest until the day he died. He was always finding ways to help others and to
bring joy into people’s lives. The day
before he died suddenly at age 89, he
had taken some of his homemade
wooden toys to a preschool for disadvantaged children. He played with the
children for about an hour, laughing and
joking with them. They didn’t care that
he couldn’t hear them.
How will you be remembered
when you die? Will your children and
family remember you as someone who
was always working in the office or
someone who was always on the phone
at home doing business calls? Will you
be remembered as someone who was
often complaining, critical of others, self
centered or watched too much TV? Or
will you be remembered as someone
who was generous with your time, going out of your way to Page 11

took his friendliness good naturedly.
When people resisted him he would
sit patiently in front of them wagging
his tail and just looking them in the
eye. His unconditional love and patience for all of humanity soon won
over even the most dog resistant person, and he would receive the longed
for pet and then run on his way to the
next person. In Charley’s world there
was no room for rejection. He assumed
that with enough love (and time), the
person would come around and they
did. Whenever my fear of rejection
blocks my passion and enthusiasm, I
think of Charley and his dauntless spirit.
I never saw him give up on anyone.
We buried this
wonderful dog a few
days ago. He was 13
years old. Charley
lived his life with
passion and enthusiasm for everything.
For the four female dogs, Abby, Molly,
Emma and Lucy, Charley was the center of their world. They all eagerly
sought his attention and, when they received it, they would be so proud and
happy. Even toward the end of his life,
they would sit as close as possible, almost touching him where he lay sleeping. If he didn’t respond, they would
gently paw him until at last he’d lift his
head and groom their coats with his
teeth. The serenity in each of their faces
was beautiful to behold.
The four female dogs were in heat
the last three weeks of his life. When
Charley was a younger dog, these seasonal aromas would stop him from sleeping or eating. As an older dog he was
still quite interested, but he also ate and
slept. In the last three weeks of his life
he was a weaker dog, yet he put his limited energy into loving and caring for the
females. They would circle around him,
and he freely gave his passion and enthusiasm. Though too weak to actually
mount them, he never stopped loving and
giving until the very end.
bursting with energy, and my spirit was happy.
This was a radical turn around from the fatigue
and depression associated with any serious illness. Any well trained healer knows that energy
is the key to restoring well-being. When you are
sick or blue you also need a good shot of hope
and inspiration to keep your wheels turning in a
positive direction. It’s hard to think positive
thoughts and stay motivated to do the necessary
things when your energy tank is on empty. The
VIBE machine gave me not only energy, it
brought calm to my mind and balanced my emotions. All the bases were covered in a direct and
efficient way.
With results like this it did not take long
to begin what has proved to be an exciting adventure with the VIBE machine. In 2005, Robert Eckensberger and I brought the VIBE machine into our N CA office. We began “VIBing”
all kinds of people from new babies to seniors
and even dogs, cat and birds. Seeing the benefits
the VIBE has given others has stirred a passion
we treasure. We have hundreds of amazing stories in our collection.
We have also had the opportunity to work
closely with Gene Koonce, the master mind inventor Robert has become one of two people in
the country authorized to train and educate others on the VIBE machine. Through our relationship with him Gene combined with years of study
in the healing arts, our understanding of how to
work with this technology has grown and continues to be source of inspiration for ourselves
and others.

ear John, John, how do you
cope? How can I find hope in
a world where people exist
that knowingly do harm to others? I
am constantly disturbed by the ignorance and cruelties of others. As a
musician, I am exposed daily to a
phony, shallow world where age and
looks take precedence over talent. I can
deal with this by writing music reflecting my thoughts and values and hope
my words will strike a nerve. However,
I can’t deal with ALEC, Wal-Mart and
other greedy conglomerates. Being
positive is becoming increasingly challenging. —Kathryn
Dear Kathryn,
Thanks for writing. I am moved
by your honesty.
I know what you mean. There are
things happening in our world today
that must make the angels weep.
Each of us finds our ways to cope.
If you are going to be open to the pain
and the suffering in the world, I think
it is important also to be open to the
joy and the beauty. At this very moment, babies are being born, children
are playing, people are dancing, people
are communicating and learning to
understand each other, people are finding new ways to resolve conflicts, and
friendships are being made. Right now,
people are learning to read, art and
music are being created, relationships
are growing, new health-giving practices are being discovered, and people
are finding ways to add meaning and
joy to their lives. At this moment, as
in every moment, millions of people
are working for a better world for
themselves and for all children, now
and yet to come.
If you are going to take into yourself the suffering and destruction of
life, and you want to find a way to be
positive, I think you must also take into
...what can we do other than
continually rededicate ourselves to
a path of awakening and compassion? In the presence of fear, what
can we do other than see this as an
opportunity to uphold another possibility and take a stand for a way
of life that is based in cooperation
and caring? What else is there to do
but love?
yourself the creativity and joy.
It is not easy for me to sustain the
gaze, to be present with my eyes and
heart open to the suffering in myself
and in others. But when I shrink from
the pain, when I avoid it and look away,
something in me goes dead. Honoring
life, to me, requires that I see both the
light and the shadow.
You are someone who has been
deeply touched by life’s pain. I think I
understand, because I am also such a
person. You won’t find me telling you
it’s all sunshine and roses, because it
most certainly is not. But, I will tell
you this. I won’t let that stop me from
loving as best I can and in all the ways
I can. Even though we are hurt and
broken, we can love. In fact, isn’t it
often the case that our wounds give us
human depth and empathy and understanding? Our wounds can be places
where we can meet others and grow.
How do I cope? I take care of
myself the best I can. Sometimes, it’s
pretty good. Sometimes, it isn’t. But
even when I stumble, I get up and keep
going because there is something inside me that says this is what I am here
to do. It’s kind of like what St. Francis
said, “Where there is no beauty, I will
bring some. Where there is no love, I
will bring it. Where there is suffering,
I will do what I can to bring joy.”
There is something in humans
that is destructive and unconscious.
And, there is also something in us that
is wondrous, infinite and sacred. We
have the capacity to hurt each other,
and we also have the ability to love.
We can react to circumstances, or we
can act from a vision of what is possible. I am best able to stay in touch
with what sustains me, and best able
to find a way to affirm life in the midst
of the suffering, when I see the opportunities within obstacles, and find
something precious in each moment.
Things become beautiful when you
love them.
Thanks for writing . I know how
you feel, because I have felt that way,
too. But, what can we do other than
continually rededicate ourselves to a
path of awakening and compassion?
In the presence of fear, what can we
do other than see this as an opportunity to uphold another possibility and
take a stand for a way of life that is
based in cooperation and caring? What
else is there to do but love?
We who are alive, with breath in
our bodies and love in our hearts, have
so very much to be thankful for. With
all the pain and challenges that life can
bring, let us never lose track of that.
Hang in there, Kathryn. You have
something precious to give the world,
something no one but you can give.
There is something inside you that is
profoundly alive that wants to come
out. It will be all the more glorious and
beautiful and life-giving for your
awareness of the suffering.
Be well, take care, and keep
breathing. Who you are is needed.
With respect for it all,

Seventeen years ago, a very loving young man who was dying of AIDS
attended one of our longer retreats. (He
died two months after the retreat.) At
one point in the week, he was sitting in
the middle of the circle of people. He
looked around at all of us and said,
“You’re looking at me like I’m having
an experience that you’re not going to
have. We’re all going to die. This just
happens to be my turn. The important
thing is how we’ve lived our life with
the amount of time we do have. I don’t
want to be remembered as a man who
died from AIDS. I want to be remembered as a man who loved until the very
end.”
None of us know how much time
we have left here on earth. Besides trying to stay healthy, we can’t do much
about when we will die— but we can
do a lot about how we live and how we
will be remembered. Perhaps it’s time
to really reflect on how you want to be
remembered and then live your life accordingly, allowing for more time to

From Procrastination to Results
Part 2 - Go for the Gold
by Karin Leonard
rocrastination is a prime obstacle to success in all areas of
life, and turning this enemy of
greatness into an ally produces results
fast. Last month, we discussed transforming the day-to-day challenges.
Today, we’ll tackle procrastination,
concerning the fulfillment of your
goals and dreams.
Understanding Procrastination
Jeremy has always wanted to
change from his corporate job to being a consultant. Yet, for ten years he
has procrastinated taking any action.
Mind you, he has perfectly sound reasons: "The economy isn't stable
enough... I'm too busy right now... I'll
do it some other time..."
Since there are always motives
for our behavior — and usually positive intentions — it is important to understand what benefit Jeremy is deriving from not taking action. Maybe
there are limiting beliefs around what
is possible for him — or a fear of the
unknown.
Procrastination may also be a
way to steal valuable time off from a
busy life.
Making those hidden reasons visible increases your choices, and you
can then address them more effec-

e are vibrating beings; our
nervous systems run electrical energy. Any conductor of electricity possesses a magnetic
field. This field we refer to as our electromagnetic field, or our bio-field, or
our Aura.
In the ideal situation, our fields
are delicately tuned to the vibrations
of the Earth. If we resonate or are in
harmony with the Earth’s bio-field, we
gather and are supported by incredible
energy. It feels good.
“The cells in your body constantly draw energy from the brain and
Earth’s electromagnetic field in an effort to achieve “magnetic resonance.”
Magnetic resonance occurs when the
frequencies in your brain match a harmonic of the frequencies in other organs and body tissues. This normally
occurs for only brief periods during
sleep. During these periods your
body’s ability to heal and repair itself,
create enzymes, and boost immunity
is enhanced. Other vital functions related to magnetic resonance are being
discovered almost daily in the emerging field of quantum medicine.”—Dr.
David Williams, Alternatives, March,
2004
The strength of the Earth’s magnetic field is dropping. 4000 years ago
it was 2.5 gauss and today it is only
0.5 gauss. (an 80% decrease). To compound matters, our environment is
overrun with artificial electromagnetic
fields (EMF’s) that override the natural frequencies of the Earth with which
we need to resonate to preserve the
health of our brains, organs and tissues.
According to David S. Walonick,
a researcher on ELF (extreme low frequencies) EMF pollution in the form
of 60 Hz fields, such as those coming
from power lines, cause DNA damage
and weaken the immune system.
“Cancer cells exposed to 60Hz EMF’s
for 24 hours show a sixfold increase
W
tively. Let's assume, for example that
fear of financial disaster has kept Jeremy from taking action on his dream.
Since this is a very real concern, Jeremy needs to take time out to come up
with a sound and workable plan. This
may provide him with a sense of safety,
and will make him more comfortable
to move forward.
Making Dreams Doable
Big goals like Jeremy's tend to be
quite different from our current reality, and may therefore seem out of
reach. We need to build bridges between what is, and where we want to
go. Make dreams doable by individual
milestones, until you end up with items
to schedule into your calendar. For
example, if Jeremy wants to launch his
consultant career by January 2007,
what has to happen between then and
now? In order to make this goal more
believable and achievable, it requires
he plan his actions with the end in
mind — where does he need to be in
six months, three months, one month,
in order to meet his target date?
Structures of Success
It’s been said, "The way we spend
our days is the way we spend our
lives.” Each new day is another opportunity to create the life of your choice.
Realizing your dreams is greatly sup-
in their growth rate.”
Walonick states: “There are few
places to go where you will not be exposed to electromagnetic radiation.
TV, radio and microwave radiation are
abundant in all metropolitan areas.
High voltage 60 Hz power lines crisscross the country. The powers that
control the energy and communications industries will stop at nothing to
keep the public from learning the truth.
Their financial health depends on it.
We have probably reached a point
where the only solution is in the form
of a PORTABLE SHEILD DEVICE.
Enter the Pulsor Energy
Stabilzer: A revolutionary Protective
Device and Therapeutic Tool...
What is a Pulsor?
Pulsors are solid state devices
composed of specially designed microcrystals.
They are pocket-sized, portable,
full-body resonators, as well as passive negative ion generators. They are
capable of harmonizing and amplifying the body’s energy field as well as
acting as a shield and filter against artificial EMF’s originating from power
lines or any electronic device.
Pulsors were developed in the
‘70’s by Dr. George T.F. Yao, an aerospace engineer turned naturopathic
doctor. He was deeply concerned about
the welfare of young children whom
he felt were being adversely affected
by exposure to electronic devices such
as TV.
The Pulsor Energy Balance
Besides being merely a protective
device, Pulsors can be used therapeutically. When placed on the body the
Pulsors begin their pulsations which
harmonize, balance and clear the energy fields, vortices and frequencies of
the physical, emotional and mental
bodies. They also cause the aura to
expand 2-3 times it’s normal size,
which has been well documented by
Kirlian photography.

ported by setting up
your life and environment for success. Supportive
structure can lend
power to your intentions, the way a
riverbed guides the
flow of water to the ocean. An example
of structures would be tracking daily
habits supportive of your goal, such as
planning, calling or writing. Make
sure your to-do list always includes at
least a couple of items that bring you
closer to realizing your dream, along
with “putting out fires" and other everyday challenges.
Find closure on something each
day. This positive reinforcement will
build momentum. And remember that
those who achieved great results did
so over time, and reached out for support. So-called failure is often just
time-released success.

Pulsors
can enhance
spiritual development and
personal healing. As the aura
expands a deep
state of stillness
and relaxation
manifests spontaneously as the
body is brought
into resonance.
The change in
electro-magnetics elicits a shift in the nervous system and in brainwave frequencies; the
nervous system shifts from sympathetic (fight or flight) into parasympathetic (relax and renew). Then
shifts in body chemistry begin; instead of making stress hormones like
adrenaline and cortisol, we begin to
flow endorphins and experience stillness and well being. In essence, the
Pulsor is the ultimate self-care and
protection tool.
The choice is yours. One can do
nothing and continue to be acted upon
by energetically toxic EMF pollution,
or you can protect yourself from these
forces of degeneration by establishing strong patterns of coherence and
resonance in your bio-energy field by
use of healthy diet, meditation and
Pulsors. Pulsors can assist you in increasing your resonance, stilling your
mind, maintaining healthy physiology
and raising consciousness.

4.) The non-spiritual being feels
separated and distinct from all others,
a being unto himself. The spiritual
being knows that he is connected to
all others and lives his life as if each
person he meets shares being human
with him.
When a person feels separate
from all others he becomes more selfcentered and much less concerned
about the problems of others. He may
feel some sympathy for people starving in another part of the world, but
that person’s daily approach is, “It’s
not my problem.” The splintered personality, the non-spiritual being, is focused more on his own problems, and
often feels that other human beings are
either in his way or trying to get what
he wants and so he must “do in” the
other guy, before he gets done in himself.
The spiritual being knows that we
are all connected, and he is able to see
the fullness of God in each person with
whom he makes contact. This sense of
connection eliminates much of the inner conflict that the non-spiritual being experiences as he constantly judges
others, categorizes them according to
physical appearances and behaviors,
and then proceeds to find ways to ei-
E
ther ignore or take advantage of them
for his own benefit.
Being connected means that the
need for conflict and confrontation is
eliminated. Knowing that the same
invisible force that flows through himself flows through all others allows the
spiritual being to truly live the golden
rule. The spiritual being thinks, “How
I am treating others is essentially how
I am treating myself, and vice versa.”
The meaning of “love thy neighbor as
thyself” is clear to the spiritual being,
while it is considered nonsense by the
non-spiritual being. Negative judgment is not possible when one feels
connected to all others. The spiritual
being knows that he cannot define another by his judgments, that he only
defines himself as a judgmental person.
Research at the subatomic quantum level reveals an invisible connection between all particles and all members of a given species. This oneness
is being demonstrated in remarkable
scientific discoveries. The findings
show that physical distance, what we
think of as empty space, does no preclude a connection by invisible forces.
Obviously there exist invisible connections between our thoughts and our
actions. We do not deny this, even
though the connection is impervious
to our senses.
The non-spiritual being cannot
make such a leap, but the spiritual being knows that this invisible force connects him to all others, and therefore
treats all others as if they were a part
of himself. It is all a question of know-
ing. The non-spiritual being acts as if
he were an island, separate and dis-
tinct from others, unconnected. Plainly
stated, miracles and real magic are
simply unavailable to those who believe themselves to be islands in the
sea of humanity.
5.) The non-spiritual being believes exclusively in a cause/effect interpretation of life. The spiritual being knows that there is a higher power
working in the universe beyond mere
cause and effect.
The non-spiritual being lives exclusively in the physical world, where
cause and effect rule. If one plants a
seed (cause), he will see the result (effect). If one is hungry, he will seek
food. If one is angry, he will vent that
anger. This is indeed a rational and
logical way to think and behave, since
the third law of motion for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction is always operating in the physical universe.
The spiritual being goes beyond
Newton’s physics and lives in an entirely different realm. The spiritual
being knows that thoughts come out
of nothingness, and that in our dream
state (one-third of our entire physical
lives), where we are in pure thought,
cause and effect play no role whatsoever.

am an English-Australian artist
freshly arrived in Santa Cruz and
loving it. I came here because my
heart bound me up and made me come.
It was love, of course, that brought me
here, and a vision, and my shouting
soul that never lets me lie to myself. I
was born with a very persistent inner
voice. It made me give up the nursing
profession and become an artist, and
emigrate twice now. It has taken me
on so many adventures. My vibrant
soul is never asleep and has taught me
mostly through love and creativity.
Living as a creative artist constantly shows me that it is a great
metaphor for the practice of living.
Curiosity, an open heart, and the
ability to listen to soul all seem to
be major ingredients for not sleepwalking through a painting or my
day. Drawing and painting are wonderful ways to fine tune me to Radio
Soul as I listen carefully to every
whisper while I download my painting.
Creativity is such a powerful
way to open the door to our hearts
and inner joyfulness. A creative practice in our lives affects everything we
do. It engenders more knowingness,
more possibilities, more adventure,
more love of life. It manifests into the

physical that which we want to create.
Singing of beauty with creativity and
an open, loving heart shifts our vibration into beauty, or abundance, or
wherever we put our attention. When
we create the mold with art, life has a
way of filling it.
Surrendering to the expression
of soul has led me to forming a series
of art workshops that became an
awakening and enriching experience
to share with others. Creating your
Life in Balance is a series of workshops that helps students create what
they want to manifest in their lives in
alignment with their highest self.
One way of lifting the veil between our knowingness and our judgments is to concentrate in the workshops on a different color each week
over the eight week course. Painting
in all the colors opens up areas in us
that like to sleep and keep us from
being in balance. Each color relates
to a different chakra. For instance,
on a week where we emphasize blue,
by Jesse Koren
was shopping for birthday presents yester
day, for our friend Bernadine’s kids. I HATE
shopping. I just want to get in and get out.
But I couldn’t seem to find what I was looking
for. So, I looked around for one of those smartlooking people in a uniform. Nobody in sight. I
walked down one aisle. Then another. Then another. And another.
“Do they have any employees in this store?”
Finally, I walked a mile back to the front of the
store, waited in line, and asked a cashier. “No,
we don’t carry that,” she said. If she cared at all,
she was hiding it well.
Eventually, I settled on a cool bubble blower
and a pack of glow in the dark stars you can hang
on your ceiling. But was I whistling a happy tune
when I walked out of the store? No.
Because, as the customer, I want to feel like
royalty. And guess what, so do your clients.
So the secret to living like royalty as a Holistic Practitioner is to “Treat YOUR CLIENTS
Like Royalty.”
Do you know that it is 10 times easier to
retain a client then it is to obtain a new client?
Once they’re in your door, they’re like a ball rolling downhill. There are only reason 2 reasons
why the ball stops rolling. Reason #1: It either
reaches the bottom of the hill, or Reason #2: the
ball hits an obstacle along the way.
Reason #1: The ball reaches the bottom of the
hill. If your client has reached the bottom of the
hill, it means they’ve gotten what they came for.
For example if you’re in our 90 Days to Doubling Your Practice and at the end of the 90 days,
you’ve doubled your practice, you’ve gotten
what you came for. We could let them find a new
hill to roll down.
Instead, we invite our clients to roll down
our second hill which is a 6 month program
called Rejuvenate Your Business. It’s designed
for people who have a full practice and want to
take the ceiling off their income so they can make
more money, have more free time, and make a

which corresponds to the
throat chakra, our theme
will be communication and
relationships.
We are made up of
sound and light vibrations.
Color is an expression of
light and sound, and is vibration made visible. So I
use sound, through music
and voice to work with the
vibration of color. Another
way is to dance in some way
before drawing; it loosens us up and
gives soul a chance to speak more
clearly. Cuban rhythms are fun and
good for the heart
My greatest joy of teaching a
workshop like this is watching students
blossom more and more in their lives
and as artists. Afterwards we can continue to keep in contact with ezines and
monthly workshops if desired, to help
maintain creative, balanced patterns of
activity.
Santa Cruz is a real haven for
souls to play in, and I really look forward to the play time ahead.
The next 8 week course starts
May 28th in Santa Cruz. All levels are
welcome.

bigger impact.
As a Holistic Practitioner yourself, you
might sign your clients up for a series of 10 sessions. When they complete the 10 sessions, what
happens? Do they find another practitioner to go
to? What if you asked them what would serve
them next? And if you can provide it for them,
you do and if you can’t, you refer them to someone who can? This is the way to treat your clients like royalty, and create a source of income
that was previously untapped.

REETINGS TO ALL truthseekers, freedom-fighters and
readers of the fantastic CONNECTION magazine. I am pleased that,
by reading this publication, you wish to
remain informed about some of the most
important (yet often suppressed) information about the true nature of things in this
country and the planet at large. Not only
am I grateful to CONNECTION for bringing forth in this issue what we do each
year, I would also like to personally thank
you, the reader, in advance for your interest in CONSPIRACY CON and the subject matter we feel is imperative to share
with, for the most part, a MIS and DISinformed public.
This annual conference is a bold and serious
approach to serious issues,
dedicated to providing a
forum for those who say
what few are willing to say
and facilitated in an atmosphere of goodwill, integrity and fun. Each year (and
this year is no exception)
several of the most controversial speakers in the
world gather to share
their knowledge of
many different issues
(rarely or never
addressed by our controlled media), which profoundly affect us all. Just some of the subjects
covered are: Mind Control, Secret Societies,
Shadow Government, The Federal Reserve, 9-11,
Occult Technologies, Suppressed Knowledge,
New World Order, etc. This can even include
looking into the manipulation of humanity by
non-human intelligences ... be they alien, interdimensional, demonic, satanic ... whatever consciousness it is, operating on (and in) this planet,
that looks upon humankind as sheep and cattle to
be herded and slaughtered at will.
The primary goals of CONSPIRACY
CON are to directly expose and analyze the
“real” problems and the “real” problem-makers of yesterday, today and tomorrow, as well
as to provide courses of action and potential
solutions to the challenges that are placed
upon humankind by these forces, which (for
the moment) may seem invisible, perpetual
and insurmountable.
I submit to each and every one of you
reading this that the conspiratorial view of history is far closer to the truth than any other
version of history. And, what backs up this
brazen declaration?.... History. Throughout history, the so-called “conspiracy theorists” have
been proven time and time again to be right far

more often than not. God bless the “conspiracy
theorist” of today. For tomorrow he will be
called “hero.” I guarantee you that future history will once again ensure that this classification correction occurs yet again.
It is time for all of humankind to grow up
quickly and take a look at some disturbing
things. I, though, will be the first to tell you
that this can be an extremely difficult undertaking for most card-carrying earthlings. This
is due to the very fact that those same masses,
with few exceptions, are nothing more than
products of years, if not decades, of programming and indoctrination (by design)... and not
real knowledge that is truly self-empowering.
Case in point: Look at the word “graduation.”
Etymolically it is derived from two words...
“gradual” and “indoctrination”... “graduation.” Furthermore, why do you think it’s
called television “programming?” Perhaps the
“all-seeing eye” network can answer this. You
know... it’s the one with show titles like
“Martial Law” and “Big Brother.”
It is said “Seek the truth... and the truth shall
set you free.” Awonderful statement and ideal, but
it is incomplete. There is a bumper sticker out there
that sums up the “waking-up” process on this planet perfectly... “The truth shall set you free, but first
it’ll piss you off!” And, I for one am pissed off. If
you aren’t, then you’re either dangerously ignorant
as to the way this world is truly run and controlled;
you’re in complete denial about this reality/matrix;
or you are a willing pawn in this global game of
chess played by the worst of tyrants.
If you fall under that last category, I feel
compelled to quote a line to you from the TV
miniseries “V” in which a rebel declares,
“Congratulations on selling out your race to a
bunch of night crawlers.” If you fall under the
first two categories, and think you can “handle
the truth,” then look no further. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Join us each year and
gain the knowledge that will truly set you free!

George Bush: Foreign Policy from God; Energy Policy from Big Oil
by Arianna Huffington
T
HE PRESIDENT MAY turn to
God when it comes to shaping
his foreign policy, but his energy
policy is strictly courtesy of the Men
Upstairs at Big Oil.
Which is why it is beyond comical
to watch Moe, Curly, and Larry—sorry, I
mean Bush, Hastert, and Frist—getting
all blue in the face about skyrocketing
gas prices, and calling on the Energy and
Justice Departments to look into possible
market manipulation by oil companies.
It’s the least believable call for an
investigation since O.J. set out to find
the real killers.
For those of you experiencing a sud-
den wave of déjà vu,
yes, the GOP demand
for a federal probe of
potential oil industry
price-gouging was a
carbon copy of the
demands Chuck
Schumer made last
week. Hey, maybe
they just unconsciously “internalized” Schumer’s words.
If it wasn’t so despicable it would
be laughable.
There was Frist on Good Morning
America recently, putting aside his video
diagnostic skills to become one of the
“Car Talk” guys. Among Frist’s helpful
money saving tips for drivers forced to
consider taking out a second mortgage in
order to fill up their tanks: get a tuneup,
drive slower, and carpool. Thanks, Dr.
Goodwrench!
But, Frist was just the gassy second
banana. The clear headliner was Bush,
who had them rolling in the aisles at a
meeting of the Renewable Fuels
Association, with zingers like his claim
that “large cash flows” mean that “these
energy companies don’t need unnecessary
tax breaks”. A sentiment that didn’t stop
the president from signing a GOP energy
bill stuffed with some $14.5 billion in tax
breaks, tax subsidies, and tax deductions
for his cash-rich energy industry chums. I
guess those tax breaks were “necessary.”
Bush also scored big with his
impression of a guy who cares about
conservation, highlighting the need to
“promote greater fuel efficiency”: “And
the easiest way to promote fuel efficiency,” said the president, “is to encourage
drivers to purchase highly efficient
hybrid or clean diesel vehicles.” As the
proud owner of a pair of hybrids, I say
“hear, hear.” As a sentient human being I
say, “Isn’t this the same guy whose
administration hasn’t increased fuel efficiency standards for passengers cars
even a single m.p.g. in six years?”
Maybe now that former GM-lobbyist
(and fuel efficiency opponent) Andy
Card has left the White House, Bush has
finally allowed his inner-Prius owner to
run free. Or maybe, the lure of touting
vehicles that can run on alternative energy sources to an alternative energy trade
association was just too hard to resist.
How gullible do they think we are?
Memo to the White House: it’s not working. Bush’s approval rating just dropped
to 32%—a number at which both water
and political clout freeze.
All this huffing and puffing about
manipulated markets and record gas
prices scream of a blatant attempt to
inoculate Republicans from consumer
rage over the massive earnings oil companies are scheduled to announce this
week. Industry analysts predict that
ExxonMobil will report first-quarter
earnings of only $9.1 billion on Thursday
— down from the record $10.7 billion
posted in the fourth quarter of 2005.
With profits like that, Lee Raymond’s
$400 retirement package is starting to
look a little stingy. Except to those paying through the nose at the pump.
Our oil-man president may want us
to think that he’s shocked, shocked by
the “large cash flows” of the oil companies, and the sticker shock drivers are
experiencing at the pump, but even
before Team Bush was dreaming of top-
pling Saddam, it was laying the groundwork for the gargantuan windfall the oil
industry is seeing—starting with Dick
Cheney’s secret Energy Task Force
It’s not a coincidence that the oil
and gas industries donated over $25 million to Congressional campaigns in 2004
(with 80% of that money going into
Republican coffers), and another $7.2
million so far in the 2006 cycle (with
84% going to the GOP). They also doled
out over $4.5 million to Bush’s 2000 and
2004 presidential runs.
And what did they get for their
largess? According to Public Citizen, the
top five oil companies have pocketed over
a quarter of a trillion (that’s with a “T”) in
profits since Bush took office. Talk about
a return on investment. That’s a gusher!
So for American consumers, payback is a bitch. And three bucks a gallon
at the gas pump. The Bush administration has turned the White House into a
full service filling station for Big Oil.
And, we’re the ones being forced to pick
up the tab.
So, don’t let the empty rhetoric and
the phony outrage pouring out of the White
House and the Republican Congress fool
you: America isn’t facing a shortage of
fuel; it’s facing a shortage of leadership.

Tell ExxonMobil: Protect Polar Bears, Not Profits!
Target: Rex Tillerson, CEO, ExxonMobil
Sponsor: Defenders of Wildlife
ExxonMobil is swimming in cash
... while polar bears are drowning in
the Arctic.
ExxonMobil raked in over $35 billion in profits in 2005, and another $8.4
billion in the first quarter of 2006. But
where are Exxon’s priorities?
ExxonMobil has given its former
CEO Lee Raymond a retirement package
worth almost $400 million. Yet, it still
refuses to pay punitive damages for
the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill that
killed birds, fish, sea otters and other
wildlife – some of which have yet to
recover.
ExxonMobil is the sole major oil
company to remain in Arctic Power, the
lobbying group whose only purpose is
to open the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge to toxic oil drilling. The Arctic
Refuge is home to caribou, millions of
migratory birds, and other wildlife. It is
also one of the most important onshore
denning habitats for America’s remaining
polar bears.
In the past five years, ExxonMobil
has spent nearly $37 million on lobbyists
and millions more in campaign contributions to relentlessly push its anti-wildlife
agenda and fight efforts to curb global
warming – the same warming that’s
melting sea ice and leaving walrus
calves and polar bears to starve and
drown.
Tell ExxonMobil’s CEO to stop
pushing for oil drilling in the Arctic
Refuge; to withdraw its support of the
pro-drilling Arctic Power lobbying firm;
and to start investing in renewable energy for the future. Let ExxonMobil
know that until they mend their antiwildlife ways, you will be boycotting
their gasoline!

America’s #1 Most Endangered
River of 2006 is our own Pajaro River
in California in our Santa Cruz
County.
Threat: Lack of a Comprehensive
Flood Control Plan
Conservation Partners: Pajaro River
Watershed Committee, Sierra Club The
Pajaro River, and the safety and wellbeing of people living nearby, are at a
critical turning point. The U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers is poised to recommend an old-style, over-engineered
flood control project that will produce
an ever-increasing risk of catastrophic
flooding. To protect these communities
and restore the health of the Pajaro, the
Corps must adopt a modern and comprehensive flood control project that works
with nature instead of against it.

survey in January also showed no
link between regular, long-term use
of cell phones and the most common type of tumor.
But researchers at the Swedish
National Institute for Working Life
looked at mobile phone use of
2,200 cancer patients and an equal
number of healthy control cases.
Of the cancer patients, aged
between 20 and 80, 905 had a
malignant brain tumor and about a
tenth of them were also heavy
users of mobile phones.
“Of these 905 cases, 85 were
so-called high users of mobile
phones, that is they began early to
use mobile and/or wireless telephones and used them a lot,” said
the authors of the study in a statement issued by the Institute.
Published in the International
Archives of Occupational and
Environmental Health, the study
defines heavy use as 2,000 plus
hours, which “corresponds to 10
years’ use in the work place for
one hour per day.”
Early use was defined as having begun to use a mobile phone
before the age of 20.
There was also shown to be a
marked increase in the risk of
tumor on the side of the head
where the telephone was generally
used, said the study, which took
into account factors such as smoking habits, working history and
exposure to other agents.
Kjell Mild, who led the study,
said the figures meant that heavy
users of mobile phones had a 240%
increased risk of a malignant tumor
on the side of the head the phone is
used.
“The way to get the risk down
is to use handsfree,” he said.
He said his study was the
biggest yet to look at long-term
users of the wireless phone, which
has been around in Sweden in a
portable form since 1984, longer
than in many other countries.

trying to somehow adapt your body
or your life to some predefined system, open yourself to a practice that
feels right for you by setting clear
intention in your practice. Before
giving yourself over to a guru, consider this twist on that term: gee,
you are you. Honor that!
So rather than buying into the
guru-trip and completely submitting
to the proclaimed wisdom of a
teacher or style, realize that your
best teacher is alive and well inside
of you. Much of the practice is
about learning to listen to that
inner-teacher, honoring what you
hear and practicing your yoga with
a sense of inner compassion and
intelligence.
Second, consider "grazing": go
to several different classes, including some with the same style but
different teachers. Also explore
doing yoga at different times of the
day to see how your bodymind
responds in the morning versus the
afternoon or evening.
Third, amidst the inevitable
changes in your body, the quality of
your mind and the vibrancy of your
spirit, reflect on how you feel in
your overall life. With a healthy
practice, you will develop an appropriate balance of strength and flexibility, naturally cleanse yourself
from the inside out, feel more at
ease and find a growing sense of
equanimity.
Finding Your Way with
Yoga
Today there's a
wonderful blending of
yoga styles. For example, in Vinyasa Flow
Yoga, we draw from
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
in the conscious connection of breath to movement in the bodymind
while seamlessly moving from pose to pose,
steadily developing a
deeply self-purifying
internal heat. Blending
the insights of Iyengar
Yoga, we create a safe practice,
honoring human anatomy and physiology in the sequencing of poses,
structural alignment, modifications
of poses and use of props to promote stability and ease. There's also
a creative element in Vinyasa Flow,
tapping into the fluid, wave-like
quantum energy pulsating throughout one's being.

IN PRAISE OF INTEGRITY
by Donna Williams-Smith
ur skin is by far the largest
organ, and the cosmetic and
body product industry is doing harm with a number of common
ingredients that are cancer-causing
agents or just plain dangerous, say
an increasing number of researchers,
group activists and even the government itself.—Nexus, July/Aug 1998
How natural is “natural”?
Since there are no regulations about
what is “natural” the term is often
abused, with many products sharing
the same ingredients as the products
to which they are alternatives. Consumers must be aware and educated.
Being attentive to ingredients listed
on labels will enable the avoidance
of some of the most serious carcinogenic and hormone disrupting
chemicals. The Environmental Protection Agency is increasing research on dozens of synthetic
chemicals that may be juggling your
hormone signals. After reviewing
nearly 300 studies, the EPA concluded the ingredients in shampoos,
dyes, and everyday products… may
O
be playing havoc with hormones
that control reproduction and development.
As an Aesthetician, I find
Linda Chaé to be a true light in an
industry laden with misleading, confusing and conflicting information.
The world’s leading formulator of
organic personal care products, she
also works with Congress as a consumer advocate. Her vegetablebased cosmeceuticals are the culmination of over thirty years of research and her products, a revolution in personal care. They are pure
nutrition for the skin and contain
nothing harmful to the organism,
short or long term.
The way your skin ages is
greatly determined by what you put
on it and the nutrients you feed it.
Many mainstream products contain
DEA, SLS and Propylene Glycol
(PEG) as standard ingredients.
These and similar ingredients are
detergents, plastics and industrial
strength agents that, among other effects, have been shown to cause skin
to age before its time. Linda Chaé’s
by Linda Chaé
documentary on PBS covered a recent study completed by the Centers
for Disease Control in Atlanta. The
CDC found that numerous synthetic chemicals commonly found in personal and body
care products are now showing up in the human body causing serious side effects for
adults, children and the unborn fetus.
How do chemicals enter the body?
Doesn't our skin prevent penetration? The skin
is the largest organ and it is not an impenetrable
shield. Medicine makes increasing use of this
fact by delivering drugs transdermally. Drugs
to prevent motion sickness, control hormonal
deficiencies or help you stop smoking can be
placed in an adhesive patch for delivery
through the skin. Your skin absorbs far more
than we think and millions of Americans are
suffering from the use of skin care products
containing synthetic ingredients. Studies have
confirmed that skin absorption is a major route
of entry for harmful chemicals, which often
lodge in the lipid [fat] tissue and enter the
bloodstream.
This has become an urgent issue, creating a need for legislative action... and California leads the way with ‘The California Safe
Cosmetic Act’. Some ingredients banned by
Senate Bill 484 are: Phthalates. Phthalates
are xenoestrogens – hormone disruptors commonly found in cosmetic and personal care
products like nail polish and skin lotions as well
as in baby toys, shower curtains and many other
pliable plastic items. Harvard University School
of Public Health found links between sperm
damage and phthalates. The CDC has found
that they cause birth defects in animals and are
present in a high percentage of pregnant and
childbearing-aged women. Europe banned
these in 2003.
Parabens: A decade ago, Brunel University (UK) researchers identified parabens as
xenoestrogens that penetrated the skin. This
commonly used preservative has been linked
to breast cancer in both women and men. Its
hormonal influence is powerful enough to in-
A
products are free of these and other
harmful ingredients. As more products are becoming paraben-free,
Linda’s have been for years. For
example, she uses the natural preservative Lonicera Japonica, which
keeps bacteria and fungus at zero
levels.
Her products are 100% Organic. Why is this so important?
Many ingredients are hormone disrupters, which occupy the spot
where real hormones are to go, releasing a false signal and causing
cells to spasm. Detergents from
shampoos, SLS and DEA are very
similar to insecticides and pesticides
and yet they are used on the body.
Chaé’s products not only exclude
ingredients harmful to health, they
validate that the ingredients are organic with spot checks, in addition
to independent testing done by farmers, because winds can carry toxins
from commercial fields and shallow
wells subject to contamination. The
organic ingredients ensure that hormones function properly.
Linda Chaé believes it is not
ethical to strip the skin of necessary
components and then try to replace
them with lesser quality ones, thus
she will not compromise in her formulations. For example, her cleansing products don’t use soap or de-
tergent. Instead of dissolving, they
stick to dirt, oxidized oils and dead
skin cells, using a sticky substance
derived from corn and other vegetables. The result is the rinsing
away of excess oils at the surface,
not a chemical action dissolving the
oil barrier and affecting the deeper
tissue.
I highly embrace and recommend these products. They are outstanding in that they leave the body’s
integrity and immune system undisturbed and moisture balanced. They
clean and moisturize from head to
toe, the way nature intended. Each
product contains nutritional concentrates of pure plant energy that
fluence premature breast development in young
boys and girls. The California Act, in general,
bans Xenoestrogens.
Fragrance: Chemicals that add fragrance usually mean ‘ARTIFICIAL’ and DO
NOT have to be listed on a label according to
the FDA. Many of them are carcinogenic or
otherwise toxic and can indicate the presence
of up to 4,000 separate ingredients. Clinical
observations by medical doctors have shown
that exposure to fragrances can affect the central nervous system.
Today, high performance products can be
made without these unnecessary, harmful and
toxic chemicals. The ToxicFree® Foundation provides a certification for products that are free of
chemicals that could cause unwanted health impacts on adults, children or an unborn fetus.
Chaé® Organics offers only products that carry
the Certified ToxicFree® Product stamp so that
today’s smart consumers know these products are
safe for use by the whole family. Clinical studies

TRU-SCHOOL
HIP HOP
For Santa Cruz Area Youth
by Harold McCord
“Tru-School Hip Hop has changed my
view of life, and lets me see a new side of Hip
Hop culture—as opposed to how the media perceives it,” says Remy Branciforte, a 14 yearold student that has been taking my classes for
one year. What this student is now “seeing” is
actually the “old,” original side of Hip Hop that
has roots reaching back over 30 years.
ack in the mid-70s, I responded to the
early Hip Hop movement when I was
still a kid. I was fortunate enough to be
exposed to “the real thing”—Tru-School Hip
B
Hop. These days, many people associate Hip Hop
with a kind of MTV-style superficiality that’s
based in vulgarity and violence. Tru-School, on
the other hand, was developed in the Bronx, circa
1969, by inner city youth who were seeking an
alternative to violent activities. Instead of participating in gang warfare, “crews” of Hip Hop
dancers started coming together on the street to
compete in dance, as a nonviolent social statement.
As Doug E. Fresh once said, “Hip Hop is
supposed to uplift and create, to educate people
on a larger level and to make a change.”
In teaching Santa Cruz kids over 30 years
later, I still hold to that original vision of TruSchool Hip Hop as a positive expression of dance
and social connection. Remy Branciforte puts it
this way, “I used to be shy about performing in
public, but now it’s just fun being out there, dancing with my friends.”
I’ve been teaching these classes in the community for nearly 10 years. My students range
in age from 5 to 24 years, and most of them enter my classes with little or no experience in
dance. After one month of my teaching, every
student is capable of performing Hip Hop routines in public as a class endeavor. I like to build
on the personal strengths and natural skills of
each individual child or young person, and then
coordinate all the kids into a working Hip Hop
“crew.”
Currently, I have two Hip Hop dance crews
that have grown out of my classes. “The Brats”
are drawn from the 5 to 10 age group, and “Total
Chaos” has developed over a period of 7 years
with young people in the 12 to 24 year old range.
On stage, “Total Chaos” is an explosive combination of multiple movement styles—Hip Hop,
street dance, martial arts, and acrobatics—for
total entertainment. Break dancing is the only
original dance element of Hip Hop, and it’s a
crucial part of the “Total Chaos” repertoire.
“Total Chaos” has competed in national
competitions in Las Vegas and San Francisco,
winning first and second prizes in the Hip Hop
categories. This summer, the “crew” will compete at the BBoy Summit in Los Angeles. In addition, “Total Chaos” performs regularly in the
greater Santa Cruz area—including gigs at The
Monte Foundation Fireworks Show, Children’s
Day, local elementary and high schools, as well
as the annual “No Limits” Dance Recital at the
Henry Mello Center in June of every year.
These energetic performances bust all negative Hip Hop stereotypes! Come and join us!
Harold McCord has been dancing for over
25 years, and has been teaching dance and choreographing professional dance routines for more
than 15 years. If you would like more information, or if you would like to attend a free class,

THUMBNAIL REVIEWS
by Karin Leonard & Daniel Robin
E
ach month, we select our favorite or
otherwise important films to be featured on this page. We rate them,
subjectively, on a scale from 1 (worthless) to
5 (awesome) in terms of their entertainment
and message. We leave the plot details and
story telling to the filmmakers and instead
attempt to characterize, highlight strengths
and flaws, and hint at purpose. Reach us at
[email protected]. Enjoy!
With Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, Mandy
Moore, Willem Dafoe
Entertainment: 4
Message: 3
urreal, hilarious and at times painfully
poignant, American Dreamz skillfully
lampoons three nefarious contemporary
themes – the popularity of the TV show
“American Idol,” presidential politics, and terrorists. Sure, it’s over the top (not unlike reality) and takes potshots at practically everyone. Let’s face it – trying to bring a talent
search TV show and current world political
affairs under one roof is an ambitious, wild
idea. And in the hands of writer/director Paul
Weitz (American Pie, Antz), this satirical
melodrama works, somehow. Great acting
and crazily creative characters throughout.
Dennis Quaid is so delightfully pathetic and
inept as President, we wonder where he got
his inspiration. Hugh Grant is perfect as the
despicable, self-loathing show host. Casting William Dafoe as the President’s righthand man (a morph of Chaney and Rove?)
was brilliant, and sure to either delight or infuriate (1 hr 55 min).

actually has some good laughs. By now, the
whole program is quite predictable (unlike the
freak-shows that it intends to bash), but still
fun if you like this sort of bizarre comedyhorror. This is clearly not for everyone (or
anyone, really), but if you’ve seen many of
the recent films designed to scare the wits
out of you, this spoof has a certain wit all its
own, as seen through the eyes of certifiable
madman David Zucker (Airplane and Naked

nless you wish to spend nearly two
hours in a dark room feeling resentful,
avoid this organized crime debacle. The plot
is irrelevant and the dialogue too mannered
and self-important to be taken seriously, so
all you get are a few flashy performances
and production design. We felt rather, well,
unlucky, sitting there, as if all taste and sensibility were suspended during the making
of this film. If audiences knew any better,
they’d resist the allure of an A-list cast and
the stylized coming attractions, and hope this
thing just goes away. It is an exercise in style,
trickery, and violent foolishness with nothing
to recommend it. The characters can only
win us over if there’s an audience that cares.

ased on the same true story as Mad Hot
Ballroom (2005), here is another inspiring tale of underprivileged teenage lives being transformed. Antonio Banderas is charismatic as the passionate New York City ballroom dancer Pierre Dulaine, teaching much
more than dancing, as these kids blend ballroom and their own unique hip-hop style, they
are also subconsciously learning valuable life
lessons about pride, respect, self-esteem
and honor. Even though the elements of the
story are familiar, the meaning, enthusiasm
and vision make it worthwhile (1 hr 57 min).

ntrigue, intensity, and fast-paced suspense
make this an entertaining peek inside the
world of the U.S. Secret Service.
Michael Douglas is at his best as a
decorated agent wrongly suspected of going bad, and he quite convincingly uses his
skills to go underground in an attempt to
prove his innocence. This is certainly engaging; you won’t be bored; and though it is
far better than most of the mindless horror
and other trash now littering theatres nationwide, it isn’t exactly meaningfully deep or
thought-provoking. Go for the popcorn (1 hr

TRANSFORMATIVE VISIONS
A s t ro l o g y f o r May 2 0 0 6
A
strology is a container of human
consciousness as it reflects upon
itself, with higher and finer, or
lower and denser grades of consciousness.
With the sun in Taurus we experience the fullness of Spring; the wildflowers bloom; wild creatures are born. It is
truly the fullness of the Earth’s beauty
and endless potential for abundance.
Taurus is the earthiest of the signs. It is
often described as concerned with
money, comfort, the status quo, hates
change, and is boring. And yet it is during the full moon of the month of Taurus
that we celebrate the Buddha’s enlightenment, known as Wesak. What a great
paradox of meaning!
This first definition of Taurus reflects how we have limited our consciousness to the most narrow view of the earth,
the feminine and ourselves.
We can also say that Taurus, the
most sensual of signs, extends the
senses to hear and experience the
depths of intelligence in all form, piercing layers of materialism to the light of
spirit.
This month has several interesting configurations. The Sun will oppose
Jupiter as it does once a year, this year
highlighting Taurus and Scorpio, challenging us to balance our practical and
harmonizing needs with interactions in
relationship. With Jupiter in Scorpio investigation of what is hidden continues;
opportunities arise to transform situations. Find the balance between creating and enjoying and being willing to let
go and move on.
Mars, Jupiter and Uranus align
themselves in a grand triangle in the
water signs, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
Through May, Jupiter trines Uranus, exactly, bringing the urge for freedom and
the energy to break through the way
things have been. (Look at the immigration movement.) With Mars entering this
lineup it energizes the urge to action,
courage, and awakens consciousness,
stimulating all the water signs. It challenges us to move out of our complacency. It is interesting that Joe Klein,
columnist for mainstream Time magazine, has just published a book entitled,
“Politics Lost, How American democracy
was Trivialized by People who Think you
are Stupid.”
This continues to be a difficult
time for Bush and his administration as
Saturn now goes direct and conjuncts his
Ascendant, Mercury and Pluto once
more challenge him to look squarely at
what he has created. With Mars in Cancer we see him go on the offensive with
impatient communications. His unpopularity will continue to increase.
The Wesak full Moon takes place
May 12th, next to beautiful Jupiter. Gathering in groups to meditate now is particularly powerful. The sun enters Gemini
on the 20th, and the new Moon occurs
on May 26th in Gemini. Relationships are
sensitive on May 23rd, with Venus in Aries and Mars in Cancer.
Twelve opportunities:
Aries (Mar 20-Apr 19): Something new
is unfolding for you. Deep feelings are
stirred and you must trust your intuition.
You are moving into a new and unknown
situation. Let yourself experience the
wonder of adventure. You feel both caution and the impulse to hurry forward.
Find your balance.
Taurus (Apr 20-May 20): In May your
creative focus becomes solidified. Do
you realize how many supportive people
are around you, helping doors to open
for learning and growing? As the end of
the month arrives you feel connected
with a new vision. Be thoughtful of others’ sensitivity.
Gemini (May 21-Jun 20): Balance enjoyment with friends and family with quiet
time to fuel a new beginning around your
birthday. If you find you have a lot to do,
or you are thinking of your many projects,
devote several days to work because
inspirational energy will take you to a new
place.
Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 21): If you make
time for yourself this month, you will feel
energized. The imaginative, loving and
creative energies will pour through you.
Be open to grace and enjoyment of your
life. At the end of the month renew yourself by retreating.
Leo (Jul 22- Aug 22): Family situations
take your attention, and you find yourself
once again being in a situation to make
important decisions. Trust your deep feelings as you are moving to a new level.
Give yourself over to your creativity.
Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22): There is a tremendous amount of communication going on and much activity with other
people. In fact you feel very supported
by others as situations move quite
quickly. Persevere with financial situations and at the end of the month, delay
negations until the beginning of June.
Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22): With Venus in
Aries, you are ready for adventure. The
water calls to you and you feel a freedom of being. Watch the games your
mind plays with you at this time, and just
let yourself step away from participating.
At the end of the month be thoughtful
about sensitive communications.
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21): You are enjoying relationship. There’s a sense of
celebration, closeness and love that is
supporting you now. You feel both freedom to be yourself and commitment to
relationship. Enjoy but know your limits.
At the end of the month an old issue will
reoccur. This is the time to see what you
project on others.
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20): You are
preparing for a breakthrough in relationship and/or partnership. Take time to find
solitude for your own creations. Abundance is all around you. As the end of
the month nears, communication with
others (friends, business connections
and partner) is the focus. Take your time.
Unexpected or sudden situations at
home call for thoughtful communication.
Capricorn (Dec 21- Jan 19): Creativity and group interactions are highlighted
this month. Friends are supportive to new
opportunities. You feel commitment to a
new project. New contacts and enthusiasm take place. Watch communications
later this month. Trust your inner truth to
guide you.
Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 17): This month
really highlights your purpose and direction. You find yourself creating a space
to step into new opportunities and situations. Your creativity and expression is
prominent as you take chances and trust
your intuition.
Pisces (Feb 18-Mar 19): Changes of attitude and direction come into focus for
you this month. Take action especially in
the first weeks of May as doors will open.
This is an excellent time for travel, studying and teaching. Later in the month will
bring your attention to home and family.
