Program Information
General Information
Our Recreational and Academic/Enrichment Programs are designed
to provide a full day, full week program for girls and boys ages 3-15.
In order to provide a varied program for our campers, all programs
listed in the Recreational Camp section are offered as half day
programs. We encourage you to select one program for the morning
and one program for the afternoon. Please select only one activity per
half day session.
Fee: $225.00/full day program/full week session. Includes one morning and one afternoon program per day

Free Extended Service
The HSC Summer Programs run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are
pleased to provide an Extended Service that operates from 8:00 a.m.
to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Campers are supervised
while participating in a variety of activities.
Note: The Extended Service closes at 5:00 p.m. Any child not picked
up by 5:00 p.m. will be taken to the Summer Program Office, where a
$25 late pick-up fee will be charged per child.
Lunch Program
Take a break from packing lunches! Look for an order form on the
first day of each camp week.
Tuck Shop
Campers may purchase snacks from our Tuck Shop during the
lunch hour.

Trojan Sports Skills Camps
For Safety’s Sake
To ensure participants’ health and safety, please make
camp staff aware of any medical conditions, medication
requirements, behavioural issues or allergies. This
information is valuable and will help ensure a rewarding
camp experience for the participant.
Please see the individual camp descriptions for fee
information and camp schedule.
Academic/Enrichment Camps
Please see the individual camp descriptions for fee
information. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt.
Please refer to the application form to indicate the size of
shirt your child requires.
Expectations for Behaviour
We require that all young people attending HSC Summer
Programs demonstrate respect for each other and for
their instructors and counsellors. This includes:
Program Cancellations
HSC reserves the right to limit enrollment and change
instructors when appropriate. The College also reserves
the right to combine or cancel camps due to insufficient
enrollment or due to the unavailability of instructors or
facilities. We cannot guarantee additional sessions when
enrollment surpasses expectations, so please register
early. In addition, HSC reserves the right to cancel a camp
one week before the start date. In such cases, all fees for a
cancelled camp/session will be refunded.

Any breach of this fundamental principle of respect will
not be tolerated. So that we may ensure safety, all HSC
Summer Program participants may not leave their group
or the facility without permission of a member of our
staff. In addition, please note that individual programs
may have rules specific to their activities and facilities.
Refund Policy
All requests for refunds must be made in writing. Refunds,
less a $25 administrative charge per cancellation, will be
issued for all camp cancellations up to two weeks before
the first day of camp. Pro-rating and refunds are not
available for days absent or for any other reason. Refunds
are not available within the two week period prior to the
first day of a camp session.

Trojan Sports Skills Camps
The Trojan Sports Skills Camps philosophy is to teach the fundamental sports skills of each sport offered, and to
individualize instruction to meet the needs of each sports camper. Each camp consists of a variety of training activities,
which encourages participants to learn new skills, refine and develop existing skills, while enhancing the participant’s
self-esteem.
Our sports camp staff consists of experienced teachers/coaches from the Hamilton and surrounding areas. Our player
to coach ratio is 10:1. Trojan Sports Skills Camps use facilities at Hillfield Strathallan College, as well as other
facilities in the Greater Hamilton Area. Transportation is provided as required.
Trojan Rubgy & Combatives
Camp
This year the HSC Trojan Rugby
Camp partners with the HSC Trojan
Combative Camp to provide a unique
and exciting experience for campers.
More experienced rugby players can
attend a high tempo and challenging
morning training camp, before sharing
their knowledge and skills with less
experienced players in the afternoon
sessions. The morning combative’s
camp provides a challenging and safe
environment to train in various contact games and develop all
components of physical fitness
through strength and conditioning.
High profile clinicians will present
in the morning sessions including
National champion wrestlers, Olympic coaches and MMA fighters. The
afternoon is spent learning and playing rugby. The camp is run by Level 2
Rugby Canada Certified Coach Mr.
Birthelmer, and HSC teacher and
Middle and Senior School coach Ms.
Mancini. Ms. Mancini is a two-time
Provincial Wrestling Champion.

HSC Summer Camps presents MBP
Soccer Camps from Barcelona. This
is a one week elite soccer experience
with a program for soccer focused
athletes. Improve your skills and
soccer knowledge working with
exceptional soccer coaches from
Spain. Featured coaches include:
Eduard Batlle “Xuxu” (former FC
Barcelona former coach, Manchester
United former coach, UEFA A licence)
and Eduard Fortet (Official player of
R.C.D. Espanyol “B”, FC Barcelona
former coach, UEFA B licence).

Trojan Golf Camp
This camp provides a comprehensive
introduction to the fundamentals of
golf, combined with daily practice.
Golfers receive daily instruction for
two hours covering putting, chipping,
tee and fairway play. In addition to
daily instruction and practice at a
local driving range, all golfers play
nine holes each day at a nearby golf
course. Participants must provide
their own clubs.

Trojan Volleyball Camp
HSC Summer Camps is pleased to
welcome Louis-Pierre Mainville, former
captain of Team Canada Volleyball,
who brings his experience and
passion for volleyball to HSC.
Campers will develop individual age
appropriate skills and general fitness
needed for volleyball. In addition,
they will develop individual skills with
greater emphasis on the skills in a
game-like setting, power hitting, middle
hitting and digging. Mr. Mainville
was a member of Team Canada
Volleyball, Head Coach of Griffons
de l’Outaouais U18, as well as Head
Coach of the Ontario Region 6 Boys
18U team 2014.

Explore the animal world through
art! Join us as we experiment with a
variety of artistic media to produce
the zoological creations from the
land, air and sea. To balance the
session, the campers will participate

Chemistry is all around us! Join us in

Computer Exploration
The power of computers is rapidly
increasing in our modern society
through easy access to high speed
internet connections. The use of
graphics, voice, music, animations
and video is increasingly important
in all aspects of computer work. This
program is an excellent opportunity
for children to begin their “hands-on”
use of multimedia. Campers learn
skills such as internet exploration for
pictures and videos as well as creating
their own multimedia presentation.

Ashley Leggat’s Triple Threat Workshop
Jumbo Italiano
This exciting two-week camp, introduces students to the
three major components of the entertainment industry:
acting, dancing and singing. The camp includes special
guest speakers from the entertainment business, learning
dance combinations, song study from today’s greatest
hits, and scene study. At the end of the camp, students
stage a short performance at HSC for family and friends.
This is the perfect workshop for kids interested in learning
the basics of the ‘biz!
Learn Italian through songs, rhymes, movement and fun
activities. Greet friends and relatives in this romantic
language. Learn about the country, culture, customs, and
of course, the food! Share your stories with others and
continue the traditions passed down through time.

Faccio-Polimeni
Ashley Leggat is a Hamilton born two-time Gemini
nominated actress. She starred as ‘Casey’ in Disney &
Family Channel’s hit comedy series Life with Derek, and the
movie Vacation with Derek. She appeared as ‘Marcia’ in the
Disney film Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen with
Lindsay Lohan. Recently Ashley starred as ‘Baby’ in
the critically acclaimed production of Dirty Dancing at
Toronto’s Royal Alex Theatre. Ashley had starring roles in
the Lifetime movies The Perfect Roommate, and The
Perfect Boss, followed by the feature film My Dog’s Christmas
Miracle/Cinnamon. This was followed by the guest starring
role of ‘Ivy’ on Murdoch Mysteries, and a co-starring role
on Criminal Minds. She just wrapped filming on her third
Hallmark movie The Good Witch’s Wonder, and wrapped up
production on a pilot with Shaftesbury Films called Rise.

Head Start Program, Grades 1-4: English & Math
Research tells us that some skills taught throughout the
school year have a tendency to regress during summer
months. To prevent some of this summer learning loss,
HSC offers a literacy and mathematics camp. The camp
provides fun, yet intensive, review in a familiar environment
with qualified HSC teachers.

Head Start Program, Grades 5-8: English & Math
This camp provides students the opportunity for fun yet
intensive review in an environment with qualified HSC
teachers. It offers a great introduction and a way for new
students to become familiar with the HSC community
while practicing their math and literacy skills. Campers get
a head start to the school year!

Join us on the dance floor! Campers learn new techniques,
styles, and dance terminology at this “everything dance”
camp. This program promotes fitness, coordination,

The Global Village
The wonders of our Global Village
is an extension of our Montessori
cultural curriculum focusing on the
integrated study of the world,
specifically its continents and biomes.
Art, music and culture are explored.
Campers engage in daily activities
including cooking, indigenous crafts
and cooperative games that highlight
world regions and explore ecological
concepts such as migrations and
camouflage. This session is open to
children with Montessori classroom
experiences.

Mind Racing
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and
Girls start your engines and buckle
up for this fast paced and exciting mixture of physical activity and
mental knowledge! Campers use their

a series of problem solving tasks and
group adventures. The week consists
of individual, paired and group
activities, with an emphasis on literacy,
mathematics, and social studies.

Science Explorers
Join us for a fun and wonderful
Chinese summer camp! Learn
Mandarin with an HSC Mandarin
teacher in an entertaining manner.
Children focus on speaking and
practicing character writing.
Meanwhile, Chinese traditional
holidays, stories, music, arts and
games are also introduced. Learn,
play and practice the Chinese
language with HSC this summer!

The Problem Solvers
This camp brings out the crime-fighting, problem solving critical thinker
in your child. Campers learn core
fundamentals like questioning and
making connections. This interactive
camp will have campers using magnifying glasses, dusting for fingerprints,
and conducting interviews to help
solve mysteries. Get your pen and
pad ready because the mysteries are
waiting!

The best of both worlds! This combination camp focuses on life and
laboratory science. Campers spend
half their day exploring nature and
the other half of the day in the lab
learning about states of mater, structures, light, and more!

Spanish Summer Club
Did you know that Spanish is spoken
in over 20 countries in the world and
is the second language in the USA?
Research shows that children who
learn a second or third language
do better in other subjects as well.
Campers learn Spanish basics and
explore several aspects of this very
rich culture. We provide a summary
everyday of what has been learned
during the day, so the students and
their parents can practice at home.
Camp is run by native Spanish speakers and Spanish as a Foreign Language Trained Instructors.
