Job Description: Reporting to and in partnership with Executive Director Greg Williams, the person will spearhead development efforts as SBTS continues to grow.
Responsibilities:
• Contact Prospective Sponsors/Advertisers
• Develop and execute SBTS annual fundraising plan
• Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors and sponsors
• Creating and executing a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
• Provide assistance of special events, including but is not limited to, Lost and Found, Downieville Classic and Grinduro
• Work with Trail Programs Director to keep Sponsorship Google doc updated and Invoice Sponsors
• Collect Contracts, track payments and receive product shipments as part of sponsorship
• Attend conference call meetings
• Work with Trail Programs Director on event(s) marketing and messaging
• Work with sponsors to locate accommodations during events
• Work with Executive Director to get sponsor listed on website and in Sierra Trails Guide
• Work with Race Registration Coordinator to coordinate sponsor racer entries
• Work with SBTS President to sort podium prizes prior to events
• Work with Executive Director and Trail Programs Director to set-up expo areas
• Work with Yuba Expeditions to coordinate sponsor event shuttles and on crossover merchandising/sales opportunity
• Work with sponsors to make sure they are happy and getting “bang for their buck”
• Manage Downieville Classic Facebook page
OVERSITE AND REPORTING:
• Contractor to provide written quarterly progress reports to Executive Board related to work product above
• Attend quarterly Executive Board meetings and Advisory Board meetings as requested.
• Work with Executive Director to define priorities
Compensation: This position is 100% commission based, travel is reimbursed as necessary
Qualifications:
• BA (a plus)
• 5-plus years experience in development preferable in the bicycle industry
• Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
• Knowledge of Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship and their mission (preferred)
Storrie Student Trail Crew Instructor/Leader Position:
Reporting to and in partnership with the Trail Programs Director the Storrie Student Trail Crew Instructor will spearhead
with a co-crew leader the Storrie Student Trail Crew, Summer Program. This program is in partnership with the Plumas
and Lassen National Forest.
Job Description:
SBTS is looking for a dynamic instructor for our award winning Student Trail Crew. The Storrie Student Trail Crew program is an exciting opportunity for local high school students residing in the Northern Sierra.
For those students accepted, students are paid to live, work and learn in the local mountains. Trail building, tool maintenance, watershed, erosion, camping, CPR, Backcountry First Aid, meal planning, and nutrition are among the broad topics
covered during the (8) week course.
Responsibilities and attributes:
• The successful Instructor/Leader applicant will join an established instructor with further support provided by the amazing
staff and crew of SBTS
• Works closely with Trail Programs Director and Forest Service Storrie contact to define annual priorities
• Works closely with SBTS food consultant for menu, scheduling, pick-up and drop off and all other food related items
• Ability to co-lead a crew of 10 students throughout the program (ages 15-18)
• The ability to work with diversity within a crew
• Posses good communication skills with students and co-crew leader
• Ability to adapt and be flexible in a variety of situations
• Oversees the health and safety of the crew at all times
• Checks in regularly with the Trail Programs Director and FS contact when in cell area or with FS radio
• Manage work projects professionally
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Tasks require a variety of physical activities in an outdoor setting including but not limited to: hiking with a pack, lifting,
reaching, communication and self-care. Trail work is hard, physical labor. It involves working with hand tools, and getting
dirty is guaranteed. Work frequently involves the possibility of experiencing exposure to poisonous plants, bruises, muscle
strains, cuts and scrapes, sunburn, and insect bites.
Qualifications:
• At least 21 years old
• Hold current CPR certification
• WFR or higher level of certification
Should Have:
• Trail Building experience
• Outdoor Education/Leadership experience including safety evaluation and assessment, group facilitation and
management, conflict resolution, empathy
• Knowledge of local mountains including history, flora & fauna
• Adaptation, character, charisma, patience, passion, strong work ethic
Oversite & Reporting:
Crew Leaders to provide written weekly progress reports to Trail Programs Director, which include daily work progress
report for work accomplished. These reports include the where, when and what tools used
