I
n 1975, Viking Pools began manufacturing in Northern
California with a single swimming pool mold. A second
mold was added two years later. In 1979, Viking added
an entire line of new pool designs.
Over the next decade, Viking continued to experience
incredible success due to its wide range of products, highquality materials, customized services, and their use of vinyl
ester resin—a formula that would become the benchmark of
the fiberglass pool industry.

1. Prepare the mold so that the pool easily separates from the
mold to give the pool a better quality finish.
2. Our standard gel-coat or premium Crystite
or Diamond Series™
finish is added, which has a limited lifetime surface warranty.
®
3. Vinyl Ester Resin is then added to provide the greatest impact
resistance, blister protection, and give the gel-coat, Crystite®, or
Diamond Series™ finish a gorgeous profile.
4. Additional layers of Vinyl Ester Resin, chopped and hand laid
fiberglass are strategically placed for durability and strength.
5. The heart of every Viking pool is the ceramic core, an additional
layer which is sandwiched between protective layers of specially
designed resin and fiberglass. The ceramic core adds a greater
strength to the pool walls and provides enhanced water
resistance.
6. Fiberglass is hand-laid across the pool to complete the important
corrosion barrier to enhance durability. Additional layers of
chopped fiberglass are added. When combined with the hand
laid fiberglass it provides additional strength.
7. PVC-honeycomb vertical supports are added to help support
the walls during the installation process. The closed beam
construction is then completed to strengthen the coping
around the pool and allow for easier lifting of the pool.
Chains are also secured around the pool for easy unloading
and setting.
8. The completed pool is lifted off the mold.
9. The pool is then detailed according to specifications for a
spectacular finish.
10. Pool is loaded onto the truck and ready for delivery.

installation.
3. The hole is carefully prepared to
achieve proper shape and depth.
4. The pool is set in place.

ABC’s Emmy winning Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition on several
episodes. The reality show helps
families in need by renovating their
home and backyard. Viking Pools
has donated 18 pools to families
across the country.
One Heartland
Viking Pools installed an Ocean Breeze pool for Camp
Heartland, a camp for kids with HIV/AIDS in Willow River,
Minnesota, and a division of One Heartland.
Each year, the organization

at-risk and marginalized
children through yearround support, advocacy,
life skills and recreational
programs and community
awareness efforts.
The Katelyn Foundation
Viking Pools, along with The Pool Guyz, donated a pool
with installation to The Katelyn Foundation in Tampa, FL to
help further their mission to teach kids how to swim.
Two year-old Katelyn Michaud tragically died in a
swimming pool accident on January 27, 2004. In response
to her death, The Katelyn Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for child safety awareness, was
founded in 2006 by her mother and uncle to honor her
memory and prevent the loss or serious injury of other
precious children.

USMC Sgt. Vitale
Lacey’s Pool
In 2011, while leading his squad on patrol in Afghanistan,
Sgt. Doug Vitale stepped on an improvised explosive device
and lost both of his legs above the knee and suffered a
severe traumatic brain injury.
B.J. Mannix, a swimming pool contractor, and
Viking Pools, made a huge donation to a family
that really needed it. They installed a pool, paver
deck, and screen enclosure to a family for free.
Water therapy will help his rehabilitation tremendously and
we are filled with pride to be able to help. Pool & Spa Outlet
donated an inground Viking swimming pool to USMC Sgt.
Vitale and his amazing wife, Alexis.
Lacey Pate undergoes surgery in Texas every two
months for a very rare spinal condition called
“Kings Syndrome.” She also has a plethora of
other medical issues.

Safety
Information
IMPORTANT: A number of very important items that are essential
for the safe use of your pool may not be visible in many of the
photographs, either because of perspective or camera angle, or
because they were removed for photographic purposes. These
items include; but are not limited to:
1. Safety ropes, which should remain in place at all times;
2. “No Diving” signs, which are provided and should be installed
in accordance with instructions included on the coping, where
they are clearly visible;
3. An area sign is provided and must be permanently and
conspicuously affixed in the pool area where all users can see
it;
4. Necessary means of exit and entry into the pool;
5. Fencing with a self-latching gate and/or an automatic cover,
and other barriers that can assist in preventing unsupervised
access to the pool by children;

6. Approved drain covers and other devices to protect against
suction entrapment;
7. Minimum required inlets and returns to ensure proper water
circulation;
8. Appropriate inpool lighting if the pool will be used after dark.
All of these devices should be installed in accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions, ANSI/NSPI or ANSI/APSP or ANSI/APSP/
ICC standards, as well as state and local statutes and codes.
Diving boards and slides require minimum depths and distances
and must only be installed and used in strict compliance with the
equipment manufacturer’s specifications and ANSI/NSPI or ANSI/
APSP or ANSI/APSP/ICC standards. If the pool is labeled by us as
NON-DIVING, then diving equipment may not be installed and any
such equipment must be removed before the pool is used.
Smart pool owners always think safety first. They take specific steps
to ensure that their family, friends and guests are knowledgeable
about the safe and sensible use of their pool. They also:
• ensure that their pool is never used unless there is adequate
supervision;
• ensure that their pool is kept in good repair and is not used
when there is a missing or broken drain cover or other
component;
To assist you, a number of very important items of safety literature
are included with each pool and also available upon request.
We must insist that you read each item carefully and follow its
instructions.
These are:

Make sure your builder supplies you with all of the safety
information that accompanies your pool and installs the enclosed
warning stickers and area sign where they can be clearly visible
to all who use the pool. It’s also a good idea to contact your local
American Red Cross for available CPR classes and other vital safety
programs.
• ensure that ALL CHILDREN using their pool are supervised
constantly;
• that anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs or stimulants
that would impair their abilities or judgment does not use the
pool;
• ensure that their pool is protected by appropriate barriers to
unsupervised entry including fencing with self latching gates,
covers, alarms, etc.
