The stricto sensu programs — created at Unifesp since 1970 — have obtained positive evaluations from the Capes (Coordination for the Development of University Level Staff), with twelve of them being mentioned for their level of excellence and significant international insertion. In 2013, 37 Ph.D programs, 47 academic masters programs and 5 professional masters programs function at the six Campi with 3,653 registered students. Due to its social and economic value, the research projects — grouped in approximately 470 areas of research — are supported by public foundations that provide them with resources. Since undergraduation, the institution stimulates the preparation for scientific activities through the concession of more than 400 yearly grants for scientific and technological initiation. The multi and interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers has resulted in a high impact in the production of knowledge, and created conditions for it to be shared with society. In a National scale, Unifesp exhibits the higher rates of productivity per professor, attaining, in 2011 and 2012, the figure of 2,990 indexed articles according to the Web of Science — Thomson Reuters.
