New generation dry ice cleaning
New generation dry ice cleaning Registered member VTSD e.V. New generation dry ice cleaning DCA Deckert Anlagenbau GmbH is a medium scale company with 25 years of tradition in the field of special machine and system engineering. During the advanced development of our new device generation of dry ice blasters, our core focus was on operation friendliness, efficiency and economy. For your most varied requirements, we offer 4 device types that have been designed primarily as dual-hose systems for highest loads in continuous operation. Your advantages at a glance - Effective cleaning in every smallest angle - Environment-friendly since there are no residues - Time-saving and gentle to surfaces Dry ice cleaning process In the case of dry ice blasting, dry ice pellets at a temperature of –78 °C are “fired” at high speed on the surfaces to be cleaned. Pellets hitting the surface cool it down extremely quickly and to a great extent. The material sticking on the surface becomes brittle. Since the carrier material and the layer to be loosened are made of different materials, both have different thermal expansion coefficients. Therefore, they react differently to severe cooling. Mechanical tensions build on boundary layers. These tensions are also known as thermal tensions and lead to the contaminations loosening from the carrier material. (Image 1) At the time of the impact, these are immediately transformed into gaseous state owing to the kinetic energy of dry ice pellets. This leads to a quick and extreme increase in the volume of CO2. Pellets blast off deposits in “mini explosions”. (Image 2) Selective supercooling embrittles the pollutant Micro-cracks in the layer of dirt Figure 1 Increase in volume during sublimation (factor of 500) Figure 2 Dry ice evaporates directly without melting, i.e. without going to the liquid state. Carbon dioxide is one of the few gases that can assume a solid state. The cooling capacity of dry ice is approximately 640 kJ/kg when heating from –78.5 °C (194.65 K) to 0 °C (273.15 K); this is nearly 3 times the cooling capacity of conventional ice. However, the more important advantage is that there are “no” residues after evaporation, which is not the case with the normal ice made from water. When heat is supplied, dry ice is immediately transformed into the gaseous state. Conventional blasting method Blasting agents damage the surface. The resultant waste mixes with the residues of contamination and must be disposed of. (Image 3) 1 Component Object Contamination Figure Bild 33 LT 380 Champion Blaster LT 380 Champion Blaster LT 380 is a dry ice blaster made of high-quality components and is the perfect solution for a variety of difficult industrial cleaning and maintenance activities. LT 380 is filled with nuggets (10 – 16 mm) and is suitable for extremely hard high-pressure applications. This device is portable, is fully pneumatically controlled and easy to operate. Unlike LT 380, dry ice blasters can process only pellets. Since the 16 mm nuggets have double the length of 3 mm pellets, the ordering, storage and delivery of dry ice is more profitable in the case of LT 380. Control the ice rate setting as per your requirements: Jet pressure 6.5 bar / ice rate 1 / consumption = 30 kg/h Jet pressure 10 bar / ice rate 1.5 / consumption = 40 kg/h Jet pressure 10 bar / ice rate 2.5/ consumption = 60 kg/h LT 380 Champion Blaster can withstand continuous operation up to a maximum jet pressure of 15 bar and an ice rate of 4. Our standard equipment: Blaster 5 m hose packet (optional extension up to 12 m) 5 m earthing cable Blasting gun including 4 venturi nozzles and 3 jet pipes Tool and pneumatic oil Side handle and ice shovel Technical data Dimension: Dead weight: Maximum inlet pressure: Minimum inlet pressure: Noise emission (maximum): Required compressed air volume: Connection: Filling material: Filling capacity of ice container: 100 cm (H) x 36 cm (W) x 51 cm (D) 67 kg 15 bar 4 bar 119 dB 4 - 12 m3/min 42 claw coupling DIN 3489 10 mm – 16 mm nuggets 20 kg Applications of LT 380 Champion Blaster Bridges / fountains / die cast moulds / developer baths / paint trays / façades / conveyor belts / flash rust / aeroplane parts / buildings / generators / core boxes / ingot moulds / cable and tubing systems / malt turning systems / machines / motors / furnaces / grid flex rollers / tyre moulds / escalators /rotation systems / sand cast moulds / rails / ship hulls / shoe sole moulds / stones / stone stairs / roads / polystyrene foam inserts / tanks / immersion baths / textile printing systems / low-pressure cylinders/ underground car parks / turbines / underseal / tools / trains Contaminants: Adhesives / binding agents / bitumen / sealant residues / cement / colour residues / grease & oil / flash rust / graffiti / graphite / rubber residues / lime / chewing gum / paint / moss / mortar / pests / welding spatter / mould / dirt / silicon / separating agents / weeds / wax 2 LT 280 Double Impact LT 280 Double Impact – The all-rounder Owing to the controllable pellet/particle feed and the controllable jet pressure and the use of a special grinder, LT 280 can be used exceptionally well in all areas. Thanks to its integrated 2-grinder system, the device can do fine and crude cleaning work. Push the flap to the left or the right, depending on which grinder you have chosen. The knurled grinder is suitable for fine applications, such as applications associated with headliners for automobiles, automobile seats and lime sandstone. It can also be used in conjunction with abrasive shots. It is very economical in terms of consumption. The grinder that has been furnished with troughs is suitable for rough applications, such as applications associated with underseals, the cleansing of moulds etc. Control the ice rate setting as per your requirements: Jet pressure 6.5 bar / ice rate 1 / consumption = 45 kg/h Jet pressure 10 bar / ice rate 1.5 / consumption = 65 kg/h Jet pressure 10 bar / ice rate 2.5/ consumption = 95 kg/h LT 280 Double Impact can easily withstand operation up to a maximum jet pressure of 15 bar and an ice rate of 4. For tough applications such as moulds, ingot moulds, underseal, etc., we recommend the setting (of ice rate 2.5) and for light applications such as interior cleaning, motor washing, switch cabinets, fire protection, etc. we recommend a setting (of ice rate 1). It is handy, easily transportable and suitable for continuous operation. It is an optimum addition to the existing product range. LT 50 Shop Blaster has been designed for light applications and LT 50 High Power has been designed as a powerful package for heavy duty applications. Both device types are equipped with a patented electrically-operated grinder and a compact housing. Thanks to a suitable electronic controller, the grinder can be optimally adjusted as per the operating pressure and the cleaning task. Owing a lower compressed air volumetric flow consumption, only small compressor systems are required for supplying compressed air. Thus, there is no need of cost-intensive investments. The LT 50 series offers all advantages of cleaning using dry ice.
