DECRA Villa Tile Installation Details © DECRA Roofing Systems, Inc. 2008 Villa Panel – Detail Deck Preparation – New Construction Prepare roof deck to meet local building codes – in areas susceptible to freeze/thaw, ice & water shield is recommended Underlayment is required – one layer Type 15 or Type 30 greater if required q by y felt – or g local code Deck Preparation – Tear-off / Re-roof Tear off old roof Clean and prepare deck to meet local codes Underlayment is required – one layer Type 15 or Type 30 felt – or greater if required by local code Deck Preparation p – Roof Over Asphalt p Cut asphalt shingles back flush with the fascia or rakes as needed and remove hip & ridge pieces Underlayment is required – one layer Type 15 or Type 30 felt – or greater t if required i d by local code Install Stacked 2 X 2’s Over prepared deck, position two stacked 2 x 2s flush along rake/gables, g , up p the center of the hips p and along g ridges g Villa Channel Install Villa Channel at rake/gable, roof-towall, and along both sides of the 2 x 2s at the hip Villa Channel - Fastening g Overlap a minimum of 6” – fasteners are positioned outside the l t rib last ib Villa Valley Valley pieces should overlap minimum 6” – fasteners should be positioned outside the last rib on either side – paint the valley before installing panels Use Villa Valley or standard concrete valley metal – minimum 26 gauge pre-finished aluminumzinc alloy coated steel, minimum 16” wide with a minimum 3-1/4” 16 3 1/4 center upstand Ice & water shield recommended for f freeze/thaw /th conditions diti 1 x 4 at First Course Install a 1 x 4 behind the first course of panels – 15-1/2” from the edge of the fascia 15-1/2” Fasten to the deck with a screw that will fit flush and is long enough to penetrate the deck 1 x 4 provides for easier installation and accurate panel alignment eave Panel Installation Lay out panels and fasten as you go along - start at the fascia and work towards the ridge Fasten only the back of the first course of panels at the eave – the nose of the panel will be fastened after the Bird Stop – Eave is installed Panel Installation Panels can be laid right to left or left to right – overlap area must be covered by overlapping panel Periodically check alignment by snapping a chalk line at 141/2” intervals Fastener Placement Bird Stop - Eave Install and fasten Bird Stop – Eave after installing ga minimum of two courses above the eave Required along the fascia Bird Stop – Eave must be notched where it terminates into the Villa Channel – fasteners placed every 10” Right and left edges notched in the same manner Eave Fastening Fasteners will go through the nose of the panel and the Bird Stop – Eave into the deck Make sure the Bird Stop – Eave fits tight to the first course of panels without gaps Panel Installation – Valley y & Hip p When installing along valleys and hips, Villa Panels will terminate into the Villa Channel or Villa Valley Valley, cut panels at an angle to fit tight where they terminate Roof to Wall Install panels up to the wall – cut the back of the last course so it fits tight g – install Bird Stop - Ridge If wall flashing is present, tuck Villa Channel behind existing g flashing g – cut p panel into the Channel Panel Installation at Ridge Install panels up to the 2 x 2 at the ridge – cut back the last course so it fits tight against the stacked 2 x 2s – use a hand bender to turn up the pan portion Bird Stop Ridge Install by lining up with the back of the cut panel and attaching it to the stacked 2 x 2s – overlapping the last course Ridge Ventilation - Examples If a vented ridge is desired, stack three 2 x 2 battens and install along the length of the ridge - fasten a 1 x 2 on top of the 2 x 2s.
