Obituaries CHANEYREAGER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY 522-2111 Randolph L. “Randy” Lauer, 56 of Commerce City and formerly of Crook, was born March 26, 1957 in Sterling and died Fri., Oct. 4, 2013 in Thornton. Recitation of the Rosary will be held Sat., Oct. 12, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sterling. Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 12, 2013 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Lauer's honor may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Lauer is survived by his sisters Janice Heckel and husband Delbert, and Fran and husband Duane Janicek; brothers Ronald “Gene” Lauer and wife Gale, Jerry Lauer and Robert “Bob” Lauer; sister-in-law Connie Lauer; as well as 12 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Fri., Oct. 11, 2013 at the Hays Student Center Ballroom at Northeastern Junior College with Pastor Jared Sonnenberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Chief Breivik's honor may be made to Hospice of the Plains, 100 Broadway, Suite 1A, Sterling, CO 80751. Roy was born to Helmer and Helen Louise (Thoresen) Breivik. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1978. Roy married Yayoi Nishibata in 1975 in Tokyo, Japan. They were married for 38 years. Roy joined the Sterling Police Department on Oct. 2, 1978 and moved up the ranks of the department to become the Chief of Police on May 25, 2005. The Sterling Jaycees honored Roy in 1986 as the Outstanding Young Civil Servant. In 1994, Breivik was named to the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.” This award, to be received, has to be recommended by a member of the faculty or staff of Northeastern Junior College (NJC) in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student of NJC. On May 1, 1995 Roy was awarded his Associate in Arts degree from Northeastern Junior Daniel J. “DJ” Knight, Chief Roy Breivik College and was working on his bachelor of arts degree. Chief Breivik was elected and served on the RE-1 Valley School District Board of Education from 1997 to 1999. He was also an adjunct professor at Northeastern Junior College. Holding a special place in Chief Breivik's heart was his work with the Sterling Police Department's Animal Control Division, having been in the canine corps in the military prior to his City employment. Roy is survived by his wife Yayoi, daughter Kristine Breivik, sister Mary Simmons, and brothers Curtis Breivik and Jim Breivik. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helmer and Helen Breivik. Stang, 82 of Sterling, was born May 12, 1931 in Sterling and died Fri., Oct. 4, 2013 in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Thurs., Oct. 10, 2013 at the Tennant Funeral Home with Deacon Ron Michieli officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Harold Stang Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751. Harold was born to John and Mary (Meier) Stang. He earned his education while serving in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. Mr. Stang worked as a Foreman for Gold Medal Milk Co. for over 30 years. Daniel J. “DJ” Knight Montes of Fallon, Nev., Tina Kohl of Sterling and Dawnette Knight of Sterling; and numerous other family members and friends. Harold J. Stang Mr. Stang is survived by his brothers Elmer and Daniel Stang; niece Denise McCorry; nephews Terry, Ron and Brad Ring. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary.
