1,000 Point Club
Megan Griffith ‘07CC became the eighth player in Columbia
women’s basketball history to score more than 1,000 points in
her career.
Griffith’s layup at the end of the first half against Princeton on
February 17, 2007 lifted her over the 1,000-point plateau, bringing
Columbia to within six points of Princeton at halftime. The Lions
would go on to outscore the Tigers 38-27 in the second half to
capture a 58-53 victory, completing a weekend sweep of Penn and
Princeton at home for the first time in three seasons.
Shawnee Pickney ‘01CC was the last Columbian to achieve
the 1,000-point mark, doing so in a 57-54 victory over Dartmouth
during the 2000-01 season.
Ula Lysniak ‘87BC became the first 1,000-point scorer. She
scored a Columbia-high 1,447 points during her four-year career.
She reached the 1,000-point mark in her junior season. The day
after Lysniak reached the mark, Ellen Bossert ‘86CC also entered
the 1,000-point club after just two seasons at Columbia.
Griffith finished her career as the sixth-leading scorer in
Columbia history with 1,061 points all-time. The stellar point
guard also finished fourth all-time in school history in assists and
steals and fifth all-time in three-pointers made.
