It’s as simple as gluing the trim (or ribbon!) of your choice to a fabric-wrapped adhesive lampshade. Visit hobbylobby.com for the full step-by-step video tutorial. RIGHT ON HUE Want a darling desktop? Plant some color! This garden-inspired print creates a bright-andbalanced color palette that’s sure to become your workaday mood-lifter. We drew this design with pastel dye sticks onto a plain fabric and blended the colors as we worked. For a quicker fix, choose a pre-patterned fabric instead. BRIGHT IDEA Forget your preschool rules, and color between the lines. Craft the cuties you see here (or design one of your own) with a self-adhesive lampshade and just a couple other supplies. Left: Fabric, water-soluble marker, embroidery needle and thread, tassels, hot glue Right: Studded trim and tacky tape 2 Hobby Lobby Product Inspirations HOW TO COVER WITH FABRIC 1 First, press fabric, and lay face down. Remove pattern from shade, and center it on fabric, aligning with pattern as desired. Trace around template with water-soluble marker, leaving space around edges as shown. Cut out fabric. Position shade with equal amounts of fabric on top and bottom. Align fabric edge along the shade’s seam. Press as you roll shade—keeping the fabric smooth and tight—to adhere remaining fabric around. Secure fabric edge with hot glue. 2 Fold fabric inside shade, and hot glue. Continue around, and repeat on opposite end. To work around frame wire, cut slit in fabric. Glue in place on both sides of wire, and keep working. 3 PATTERN PAIR What if we said you could DIY a lampshade in less time than it takes to listen to your favorite podcast? It’s true! It’s as quick and easy as cut, wrap, glue. And this finishing-touch tassel makes turning on the light that much fancier. CRAFT TIP: For an added point of interest, paint the inside a coordinating color, and finish with trim for a polished, side-table look. We’re totally hooked on faux leather circles, overlapped with hot glue. Feel free to improvise! Adding some color would make for a great addition to an anchor’saweigh nursery for your little sailor.
