THE 2012 5 1 Donna McCatty Ceramics, Painting, Wall Art Donna’s background is as an art teacher and professional artist, making and selling custom leather clothing as owner of Muskie Bay Trapping Co. After 22 years, Donna has retired to Port Austin, renovating a 130 year old farmhouse and working in clay to create decorative ceramic tiles. When feeling whimsical, she paints contour wall hangings of wooden fish, cats and a host of other charming characters. Donna’s guest artist is watercolorist and poet, Jane Mayes. 2987 Stoddard Road • Port Austin, MI • 248-421-1174 email: [email protected] Claire Logan Painting, Felting, Ceramics Claire is a full-time studio artist, concentrating on glass fusion, ceramics, felted jewelry, and oil painting on wood blocks. Claire will also have her popular ceramic buttons. Her home studio in Bad Axe has torches, gas tanks and kilns for making her unique glass beads. Sandy will be showing her beautiful jewelry at Claire Logan’s during the 2011 Studio Tour. 989-550-1051 • email: [email protected] 2 Dave Thuemmel Decorative Woodworking Dave Thuemmel has earned a reputation as a premier woodturner in the Port Austin area. Every year he tries new techniques and exotic woods to create truly distinctive pieces. Dave will be turning wood on the lathe, and explaining of the entire process. Collages, painted furniture, clothing with hand embroidered and vintage decorations, fabric art, garden pieces and more can be found in their charming shop. Her work is currently in the State Capital. Deborah was also part of a MI Artist exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Her work was selected for installation in the residence of then Governor Jennifer Granholm and Deborah recently studied ceramics at La Meridiana, Italy. Constantly evolving, Lynne is adding copper, silver and glass to her dramatic jewelry designs. In 2011 Lynne became a part of an elite group of artists know as The Artisan Group. Joyce has won many awards for her detailed landscapes. This year she is also showing beautiful still life paintings.
