Contestants
will
supply
their
own
cooking
utensils.
Sponsors
will
provide
display
area
and
electrical
outlets.
Each
contestant
must
cook
a
minimum
of
one
gallon
of
competition
chili
prepared
in
one
pot.
Fillers
(Beans)
are
permitted.
Vegetarian
entries,
ok.
Chili
cooks
will
be
required
to
taste
their
chili
before
turning
in
for
judging.
(If
a
contestant
refuses,
his
or
her
chili
will
be
disqualified)
Contestants
discharging
firearms
and/or
using
explosives
or
other
pyrotechnics
will
be
disqualified.
PEOPLE’S
CHOICE
Each
customer
will
be
given
a
cup
and
a
judging
sheet
which
will
be
turned
in
to
the
Chief
Judge
when
completed.
SOCIETY
OF
THE
RED
CHILI
JUDGING
Each
contestant
will
be
assigned
a
contestant’s
number
and
be
given
an
official
judging
cup.
Each
contestant
should
verify
that
the
number
on
the
bottom
of
their
cup
is
the
same
as
their
assigned
contestant
number.
Each
contestant
is
responsible
to
deliver
their
cup,
filled
to
the
bottom
of
the
rim,
to
the
judging
area
at
the
official
time
for
judging.
At
11:30
AM,
Chili
will
be
turned
in
at
the
designated
judging
area.
Each
judge
will
use
a
new
spoon
to
taste
each
chili
and
dispose
of
it
properly.
Judges
will
vote
for
the
chili
they
like
best
based
on
the
following
major
considerations:
Flavor,
Texture,
Consistency,
Blend
Of
Spices,
Aroma
and
Color
The
results
will
be
tallied
by
the
Chief
Judge
and
the
decision
shall
be
final.
Winners
will
be
announced
at
12:45
PM

Accordingly,
each
cup
of
chili
is
to
be
judged
on
five
(5)
criteria
to
arrive
at
one
whole
number
score
of
1
to
10,
with
10
being
the
highest.
The
five
criteria
are:
Flavor,
Texture
Of
The
Meat,
Consistency,
Blend
Of
Spices,
Aroma,
And
Color
 Judge
each
chili
on
its
own
merit.
Make
your
decision
right
away
because
the
chili
cannot
be
re‐tasted
after
it
has
been
passed.
 Pace
yourself
because
you
will
have
several
chilis
to
judge.
 Cleanse
your
palate
between
tasting
each
different
chili.
 Place
your
score
on
the
score
sheet
blank,
which
corresponds
to
the
judging
number
marked
on
the
exterior
of
the
cup
you
are
judging.
Keep
your
sheet
folded
when
not
entering
scores.
 Do
not
talk
to
your
fellow
judges
about
chili
or
compare
notes
or
scores
during
the
judging.
If
you
do,
you
will
be
asked
to
leave
the
judging
area
and
your
score
sheet
will
be
disregarded.
 When
done,
check
your
score
sheet
for
correctness
and
legibility.
The
scores
from
the
judges
will
determine
the
winners.
