Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams Was born on February 20th 1902.
He was a landscape photographer who mainly focused
on locations within Yosemite National Park in California.
He Preferred to use Large-Format Cameras for his
landscape photography. He was an environmentalist
that used his photography to show the natural landscape that needed to be conserved. He was considered a workaholic due to the large amount of time he
devoted to his photos. He died on April 20th,1984.
Robert Capa
Despite being a war time photographer he
hated war. He was born as Endre Friedman to Jewish parents in Hungary. As a young man he fled from
Hungary to France out of fear of the Nazi regime. His
most famous Work was a group of photos named “The
Magnificent Eleven” which were pictures he took on
D-day as the soldiers were landing on the beach. He
died at the age of 40 in Thai Binh,Vietnam.
Margaret Bourke-White
She was born on June 14th,1904. She attended
four different universities including Columbia university,
University of Michigan, Western Reserve University ,
and Cornell University. Main use of photography was
to create Photo Essays of Germany, The Soviet Union
and of the Dust Bowl. Her Photography Style was that
of social realism. Some of her famous works include
photos of Mohandas Gandi. She died on August 27th,
1971.
Dorthea Lange
Dorthea Lange was born on May 26th, 1895. She
studied photography at Columbia University in New
York City. She was a Documentary Photographer. She
photographed men that were unemployed in the Great
Depression. In 1942 she recorded the mass evacuation
of Japanese Americans After the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was known as an early environmentalist. Her
best known work is the ‘Migrant Mother”. She died on
October 11th,, 1965.
Steve McCurry
Steve McCurry was born on February 24th, 1950.
His photography style makes use of both digital and
film cameras. His preferred method is to use
Transparency film for his photography. His career
started with him sneaking across the Afghanistan
border before the Russian Invasion. His Photography
typically covers armed conflicts and within the area of
those conflicts. His best known work is his photo the
“Afghan Girl”.
Annie Liebovitz
Annie Liebovitz was born on October 2nd,
1949. She is known as a one of America’s best portrait
Photographers. She is known to take many Controversial Photos. Her style makes use of bold primary colors
and surprising poses. Her career started when she
was at Rolling Stones magazine. She then moved on to
work for the magazine Vanity Fair. She was an official
photographer of the 1996 Summer Olympics held in
Atlanta, Georgia.
Galen Rowell
Galen Rowell Was born on August 23rd 1940.
He was known as a landscape photographer. In his
photography style he preferred the 35mm Camera over
the Large-Format Cameras is colleagues were using.
He used his photography to spread the message of
nature conservation. His most famous work is called
“Rainbow Over Potala Palace,Lhasa”. He died on
August 11th, 2002.
