Lightweight NWU Type I * CNO initiative to develop a lightweight NWU TP1 E1- E6 White Hat & Service Dress Blue * DLA managed item providing prototype production * SECNAV/CNO initiative * NEXCOM / NCTRF providing integration and RDT&E Current Uniform Initiatives Navy Cold Weather Parka Running Suit All Weather Coat • Approved for optional wear • Begin Fielding at RTC FY15 Submarine Forces Sweater - Future Initiatives… Misc Women’s Uniforms Navy Sizing Correlation Study Objective: Reduce Navy uniform NSNs & validate any efforts to standardize sizing on Service common items Approach: • Leverage the Army / USMC Anthropometric (ANSURII) Study • Capture a small sample of Navy personnel anthropometric data • Determine if the Navy data correlates with Army and USMC anthropometric data Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Type II & III • Initial outfitting phase completed June 2012 • Sustainment in transition to DLA: • Conducted a Permetherin Dosage study in conjunction with Armed Forces Pest Management Board and US Army – Natick • Brown Boot – performance requirements est. for commercial buys • Program Management transitioning from NAVFAC to NAVSUP NEXCOM FY 15 NWU Type II Type III Personal Protective Ensembles Abrasive Blasting Welding Ensembles Personal Protective Ensemble Steam Suit Footwear Projects • Non-Metallic Safety Toe Caps −Limited User Evaluation underway −2 different Molded Toe Cap substrates • Foreign Object or Debris (FOD) Test Method −Develop a bench top test method to evaluate FOD resistant outsoles − Effort in conjunction with industry and Services via DoD Footwear Committee Thermal Manikin Test Methods Articulated Traversing Thermal Manikin Develop an articulating, thermal sensing full body manikin and associated variable speed traversing system for use in a full scale flame/thermal chamber Articulated Thermal Sensing Arm Develop, manufacture and validate an instrumented, articulating, thermal sensing arm segment for use in a flame environment Summary • NEXCOM organized to help define and validate customer uniform requirements and quickly integrate and deliver solutions. • Continual close and early engagement with stakeholders is key to success.
