Materials - WoodTrac ceiling panels and moldings are laminated medium density
fiberboard (MDF) with a high definition micro paper laminate. All wood panels used in
Sauder production are FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council™) Certified and “Enviromentally
Preferred Product” (EPP) by the Composite Panel Association. Molding clips, alignment
clips and adaptor clips are polypropylene and metal wall clips are galvanized steel.

wood ceiling panel. Fire rating is based on the ASTM E84-11a test for surface burning
characteristics of building materials. This test method is also published under the following
designations: NFPA 255 UL 723 UBC 8-1. Class C performance - Flame Spread 100,
Smoke Developed 100. Class A performance - Flame Spread 20, Smoke Developed 185.
Weight - WoodTrac ceilings with Class “C” Panels weigh 1 lb per sq foot. Class “A”
ceilings weigh 2lbs per sq foot. See Item Level Product Specifications on following page

Warranty - WoodTrac ceilings are backed with a 5 year warranty to protect against
product defects.

Specification
Physical Data Summary
Cross Moldings - Count the number of cross tee pieces in your diagram to get
the total number of Cross Molding pieces needed. If your existing ceiling grid
uses 2’x 4’ panels add one additional cross molding per 2’x 4’ panel.
Ceiling Panels - Count the number of Ceiling Panels or panel openings in your
grid. Count 2’x 4’ panels as 2 panels.
Metal Clips - Multiply the number of Edge Moldings needed by 3 to get the
number of Metal Clips you will need.
Molding Clips - Multiply the number of Main Moldings needed by 3. Multiply
the number of Cross Moldings by 2. Add these totals together to give you the
number of Molding Clips you will need.
Adapter Clips - (If applicable) - If installing on a 2’ x 4’ grid setup, you will need
2 adapter clips for every 2’x 4’ ceiling panel.
Alignment Clips - You will need one Alignment Clip per Main Molding piece.
Light Kits - (If applicable) - Only used if ceiling has troffer fluorescent lights.
Count the number of lights and note how many are 2’x 2’ and 2’x 4’.

Is my WoodTrac wood ceiling water resistant?
No. While laminate products are durable, like any wood product they are not water resistant. We recommend quickly wiping any
spilled liquid to prevent damage. Unlike acoustic panels in a drop ceiling which absorb water and stain, water should shed off of
WoodTrac wood ceiling panels and drip from your ceiling letting you know there is a leak.

How do I clean my WoodTrac ceiling?
We recommend light dusting or wiping the surface with a wax-based polish (Pledge or Endust, for example) and a dry cloth.
Spray should be applied to cloth and not directly to furniture. Never use any type of abrasive cleaner or soap detergent on
laminate surfaces.

How does WoodTrac install on a ceiling?
WoodTrac has two installation options. In our Suspended Ceiling application moldings snap onto a standard metal suspended
ceiling grid using patented clips for 9/16", 15/16" or 1" wide ceiling grid. WoodTrac ceilings’ Direct Mount application installs over
ceiling joists, drywall, plaster, etc. by covering the ceiling surface with OSB or Plywood and then installing Direct Mount clips,
panels and moldings.
Does WoodTrac work with all suspended ceiling grid systems?
WoodTrac’s clips will allow it to be installed over any 9/16", 15/16" or 1" wide suspended ceiling grid except bolt slot grid. Measure
the width of the metal strip, which is visible with the ceiling panels in place (normally the white metal strips between the panels)
before purchasing WoodTrac to ensure compatibility. The majority of suspended ceiling grid is 15/16" but we offer clip sizes to
accommodate less common 9/16" and 1" grids.
If I don’t have a suspended ceiling but want one. What kind of layout (2'x 2' or 2'x 4') should I install?
We suggest installing a 2' x 2' grid system.
Will WoodTrac work with ceilings set up with a 2'x 4' grid pattern?
Yes, there are Adaptor clips that fit on the end of the WoodTrac cross tee moldings. Each 2'x 4' space will be filled with two
WoodTrac 2'x2' panels and the small space between them will be covered by a cross tee molding hung with two Adaptor clips.
How far down from my ceiling joists can I hang the ceiling grid on a new install? How much headroom will I lose?
Suspended Ceilings - A major grid manufacturer recommends at least 3 inches. Since the Woodtrac panels are 3/16" thick, the
grid may be installed with a 2" dimension from the joist to the bottom of the metal suspended ceiling grid. The Woodtrac panels
then will be 2" from the ceiling joists. The Woodtrac moldings, which clip onto the metal grid, will add another 1/2" to 7/8"
depending on the style.
Direct Mount Ceilings - between OSB/Plywood over the drywall, plaster, etc. plus the panels and molding thickness you will lose
approximately 2” of headroom.
What kind of lighting can I use with WoodTrac ceilings?
Suspended Ceilings have the option to use can lights, flush mount, track and hanging light fixtures designed to be used with
suspended ceiling grid systems. Follow manufacturer instructions for mounting on the grid. Use a hole saw or jig saw to cut the
hole in your panel. For Troffer lights (fluorescent) WoodTrac Light kits are available in both 2'x 2' and 2'x 4' sizes.
Direct Mount Ceilings follow typical drywall installation methods for various lighting options.

Since WoodTrac is made of wood will it grow mold in rooms with moisture concerns such as basements?
WoodTrac should not have mold issues in basements below 50% relative humidity. WoodTrac is a wood product and therefore
is as likely as wooden furniture to grow mold.
