Dormant Account Fee - Capstone Federal Credit Union
qtr 2 2011 Capstone federal credit union quarterly membership newsletter & guide to financial services Dormant Account Fee Maintain your share account at Capstone FCU At Capstone FCU, your money is safe and available for use as cash or collateral for a loan, so remember to make regular deposits and maintain your personal information to keep your share account active. Effective May 31, 2011, dormant accounts with no activity will now be charged a monthly $10.00 dormant account fee. And remember, accounts with no activity for three years are classified by the State of California as “abandoned property,” and credit unions are obligated to turn these funds over to the State. Spring Clean Your Financial House Spring is a great time to get your finances in order. A few simple changes can put more dollars in your pocket. Create a budget for your household to give yourself some spending guidelines as you continue the year, planning for summer trips and the return to school in the fall. Start an automatic savings plan, so you don’t end the year having spent everything you made. Consider refinancing your auto loans; CFCU has great rates that will free up more of your take-home pay and give you more money to spend on yourself and save for the future. Read the fine print on your credit cards, and make sure you’re not carrying too much debt at too high an interest rate. Review your insurance policies and needs. Adjust your investment and retirement portfolio; this may be the time to change some investments to a lower risk category or free up some cash. Consider seeking out a financial professional. President’s Message I mentioned in our last newsletter that 2011 would not be a stroll in the park. As I reviewed our recently released 2010 Annual Report, I found myself shaking my head in amazement at how difficult 2010 was and realizing that 2011 is going to be just as much of a beast. However, because we finished 2010 in excellent financial health, we will be able to plunge ahead and meet the challenges waiting for us. Your Board of Directors, Committee Members, and the Capstone staff are working diligently to make and implement the right decisions to make us successful in the long term. Our members are our greatest assets. You have kept us going for 57 years, and I look forward to many more. Your financial well-being is our highest priority. Armando Vega, President We have plenty of money to lend and the best rates around. Look to your credit union if you are buying a new or used car or if you simply want to refinance to a lower rate. We appreciate your faith in us, and in return, we offer you first-rate customer service, great rates, and exciting new financial opportunities. Capstone will always be a secure place for your savings. We are with you all the way. After all, we are truly “built from a strong foundation.” LOCATION New Fee Schedule Capstone FCU has a new fee schedule that will take effect May 31, 2011; see the table below for more details.
