Anne Frank did not survive the war, but in 1947 her wartime diary was published. In 1957, the Anne Frank Foundation was established to protect the property from developers who wanted to demolish the block. The Heineken Experience is a historic brewery and corporate visitor center for the internationally distributed Dutch pilsner, Heineken beer. The museum opened in 1960. It preserves the hiding place, has a permanent exhibition on the life and times of Anne Frank, and includes an exhibition space focusing on all forms of persecution and discrimination. Group tours are not permitted. Avoid the queue, which is usually quite long, by purchasing tickets online in advance. Tickets go on sale exactly two months in advance for tours taking place between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. They sell out very quickly, so anyone unable to secure a ticket in advance must line up between 3:30 and 10 p.m. and purchase a ticket on site. Purchase tickets online here.
