Baystate Children’s Hospital
For the past eleven years, Baystate Children’s Hospital has been the
very fortunate beneficiary of the Max Classic Golf Tournament.
Raising nearly $1,400,000 for the hospital since 2003, proceeds
from this event have funded critical equipment needs like
Omnibeds and cool cap technology for the Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit, as well as a digital echocardiogram and metabolic exercise equipment for pediatric cardiology. The event has also helped
to significantly expand our asthma program, which treats thousands of children in our community every year. In 2012, through
the support of this tournament, the Max Classic Pediatric Intensive
Unit Family Waiting Room was established.
Baystate Children’s Hospital is a fully-accredited children’s hospital, located within Baystate Medical Center. Each year, more than
40,000 children from around our region come to us to receive
advanced, specialized medical care. Our 117-bed facility provides
care across the spectrum of childhood: from our tiniest babies
treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the only one of its
kind in western Massachusetts, to adolescents up to age 21. Our
Children’s Hospital Surgery Center and Sadowsky Family Pediatric
Emergency Department help make the hospital experience as positive and comforting as possible. Over 60 subspecialty departments
account for both inpatient and outpatient services, including the
Sadowsky Center for Children, a state-of-the-art treatment center
for pediatric cancer and blood disorders, and the Baystate
Children’s Hospital Specialty Center, which opened in Fall 2013.
The Max Golf Classic donated a major gift of $150,000 toward
the Baystate Children’s Specialty Center campaign, funding the
facility’s waiting room.
