Media Relations
Under no circumstances should any employee make a statement to the media or any member of the
public regarding the cause or event of any incident, or injury related to business levels or company
performance.
It is Blue Mountain’s policy not to issue a statement until an incident has been thoroughly investigated
and any / all statements are to be made through the resorts marketing, Public Relations staff. To prevent
speculation and rumors, employees must not engage in any conversation with inquiring media, resort
guest or general public. If a person is asking for details persistently, refer them to the Public Relations
Department. Located within the Resorts Administration Building.
While we encourage positive relationships with media, we ask that all staff follow the following
procedures when media is on resort:
 Whenever media is on resort, do not approach them. Instead, contact Patrol Services, ext. 6600 and
they will reach out to our Resort, Public Relations contact.
 If approached by media (reporter, blogger, videographer, etc.) please refer to our company Public
Statement and Media Policy. Staff are NOT permitted to speak with media about matters related to
Blue Mountain Resort. Politely refer any questions to the Public relations department.
Suggested Messaging:
“I cannot comment on any matters related to Blue Mountain Resort. I will reach out to our Public
Relations department and they will be happy to assist you with your interview or story.”
7
Social Media
Content posted on Social Media (twitter, facebook, Instagram, flickr, Pintrest, Google+, etc.) about Blue
Mountain Resort is considered Public Statement. Only authorized staff can use social media programs
from Blue Mountain computers. Regarding personal use of social media from home or during nonworking hours, we ask that all staff carefully review our Social Media Policy. Interaction by staff on Blue
Mountain social media channels (positive or negative), is restricted in many instances.
Social Media Policy
USE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES
This policy pertains to the use of public online social networking, collaboration web-sites and web-based
communities, including but not limited to blogs, wikis, social networks, virtual worlds, and all other forms
of social media. Current examples include Flickr, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Wikipedia, and
Linkedin.
There are always consequences to content published on public online social networking sites. Once
something is published, it is often difficult, if not impossible, to completely remove. Content can be
picked up by others, distorted, possibly misinterpreted and/or used in ways unintended by the person
posting it. This can be very damaging.
Blue Mountain uses these sites to promote the business and does so with great care. If a Blue Mountain
employee writes something about Blue Mountain on his/her own site, his/her words carry a significant
amount of weight and therefore, Blue Mountain holds its employees responsible for the Blue Mountain
content they post on public online social networking sites.
At Work
Except for a very few who are specifically authorized, employees are not allowed to use/view social
networking sites on Blue Mountain’s computers.
At Home
Whether it is their own personal networking site or a public site, employees should never post:
 Negative or critical comments that could give people a poor opinion of Blue Mountain, its facilities,
policies, services, or products;
 Negative or critical comments about other Blue Mountain employees;
 Information that Blue Mountain, its guests, or its employees considers confidential or private;
 Photos of guests or fellow employees attending Blue Mountain events, without their permission; and
 Information relating to the business. This information should only be released through official
channels, such as the Marketing Public Relations department. Consistent with Blue Mountain’s Public
Statement Policy (see below) employees should not use social networking sites to convey statements
to the media or to publicize sensitive business items. Employees are asked to call the Director of
Marketing if something should be communicated publically.
Employees are not to engage in defending Blue Mountain in forums and other social media. An employee
may think he/she is helping by responding but he/she could potentially be inflaming the issue further.
8
While Blue Mountain appreciates support, these matters are best left to Blue Mountain Marketing Public
Relations professionals.

Trail Conditions Update
The unique biological make-up and high clay content of the Niagara Escarpment makes Blue Mountain
Bike trails quite vulnerable to rain and weather conditions.
Safety of our riders is our number one priority, as is protecting the sustainability of our trails and the
ecological balance of the surrounding environment. Standard operating procedures exist for the opening
and closing of our mountain bike trails and ensure these factors are considered.
Directly following a weather event involving rain the trails are inspected by either the Blue Mountain Trail
Crew or Bike Patrol. The decision to delay opening due to unfavourable conditions may be made after this
inspection.
We recognize that this delay in information can be an inconvenience to our guests; therefore we thank
you in advance for your patience.
Updates to trail weather conditions and closures will be posted on our website.
Equipment Requirements:
To ensure the safety of our guests on the trails, we have some minimum requirements and
recommendations for the type of equipment used in the Blue Mountain Bike Park. If your equipment

Ontario’s gorgeous Georgian Bay, it’s the perfect retreat for all of our overnight guests. Spend the
morning paddling the serene shoreline, grab lunch and then take the afternoon to relax in the sand or get

This package of 8 vouchers allows guests to customize their adventure agenda with a wide range of Base
Camp Attractions, beach & bike rentals and Dockside activities.
Plus! They will receive an additional voucher entitling them to 20% off any Mid Station or Summit
attractions during your stay. It’s a value of over $120 that they can add to their lodging package for only
$80 plus tax.

Customized Experience:
The guest can build the adventure that’s just right for them and save money too! We’ve taken our most
popular attractions and bundled them so families can enjoy a Blue Mountain getaway that is chock full of
fun activities—at savings of up to 25%
