Founded in 1973 and located in Caledon, Humberview Secondary
School is home to a regional enhanced learning program for gifted
students, French Immersion, extended French program and SHSMTransportation The curriculum at Humberview offers a challenging
and rewarding experience for students who are enthusiastic about
realizing their full potential.
The collective efforts of teachers are focused on higher levels of
achievement for all students. Staff are committed to helping students
work to their full potential and to be successful. Students work with
teachers to set goals and are encouraged to get extra help when they
are experiencing difficulty.

SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR (SHSM)
TRANSPORTATION
In order to meet the high demand in the coming years for quality skilled workers in the Transportation sector, Humberview is excited to offer this
unique program. The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) at Humberview involves students completing a package of courses that meets the needs
of all students with an interest in developing the skills necessary for a career in the Transportation sector. The Transportation sector acknowledges
and supports the program through certification and appropriate industry placements.
In order to complete a SHSM in Transportation, students:
1. complete a package of 9 specific credits (see chart below).
2. complete 5 required Industry Certifications and 2 elective certifications
3. obtain job experience (e.g. co-op work experience, job shadowing, job twinning).
4. document the industry essential skills using the Ontario Skills Passport.
5. gain “Reach Ahead Experience” (e.g. through experiential learning or events at post secondary institutions)
