FOREWORD
Welcome to Promatic. Thank you for taking the
time to consider our products. One of the most
important things we do as a business is listen
to our customers, both shooters and ground
owners. This feedback goes into the continual
development of all our traps and has helped us
to become market leaders – not only in
Sporting, FITASC and Compact/5-Stand but
now in Skeet, ATA/Trap and Olympic Trap.
Every year we support a number of major
championships, such as the World FITASC
Championship, World English Sporting,
European Universal Trench, British Open and
French FITASC Championship.

Promatic trap. For over 25 years Promatic have
been designing and building the finest automatic
traps you can buy – but do not just take our word

When someone shouts “pull” a trap has to work
first time, every time. The only valid excuse for
a ‘no bird’ can be a substandard clay – and that
is why quality is implicit in every product and
service we market.
The UK manufacturing plant is based in the
heart of the aerospace and automotive region –
their zero defect engineering disciplines and
exacting component quality standards are
incorporated into everything we do. Take our
throwing arms – while most other
manufacturers use a standard grade
aluminium, which tends to flex and warp under
continued use, we utilise a specialist aerospace
grade alloy which can withstand the enormous
pressures unleashed by our springs.

Your machine will be quality tested on
completion of build and the tester’s initials
attached to the machine alongside a serial
number stamped onto the frame for security
purposes. We provide you with warranties from
1 year to 3 years with an option to extend by a
further 3 years. The main shaft and one-way
bearing on all our traps have a lifetime
warranty.
In addition, our parts service still supplies
spares to machines that we built over 20 years
ago. We have a policy, where possible, of
continuing support for all our machines –
giving you the comfort that your machine can
always be maintained.

over 20 years ground owners all over the world

testing conditions on the planet, from the -30°
winters of Moscow through to the heat of an
Arizona summer – and everything in between –

Many of our Sporting traps can
throw standard or midi clays by
simply changing over the Carousel.
The Super Hawk is even simpler,
because our innovative design
means you can quickly adjust the
clay magazine so that in less than
5 minutes you are shooting midis.
The brief for our design team was a difficult one – produce
the most competitively priced trap available, suitable for
individual use but which can match the performance of traps
found on commercial grounds.
The design solution was the Super Hawk that throws almost
one target per second. The Super Hawk allows you to create
a true following pair while its powerful motor means it can
throw targets 100yds/300ft. If that speed and distance are
not challenging enough, it will also allow you to use midi clays
to really test the shooter’s skills.
It is the largest single stack machine in our range with a
capacity of either 65 standard or midi targets. As part of our
‘Personal Use Range’, a number of additional options can be
fitted to the Super Hawk including the DTL/ATA base,
footswitch or even a wireless remote release.
The Super Hawk ABT/Wobble offers a ABT/Wobble
simulation for ABT/Wobble training. Full wobble mode is
selectable for total random targets and angle settings for
height variation and spread of targets. It uses a totally new
ABT/Wobble system designed in-house by Promatic’s
development team based on our commercial ABT/Wobble
traps. Utilising high power motors it allows for very rapid wide
angle wobble movement but with a very smooth motion so
the target presentation is wonderful.

HARRIER

Completing our ‘Personal Use Range’ of traps the Harrier
is the elite machine for a single user or an entry machine
for club use. It is ideal for groups such as friends and
family or a small members’ club because it offers three
or four times more capacity than our single stack
machines. This allows you to hold competitive shoots
using the Harrier without having to break off and refill the
machine. Three, four or even five people can shoot a
30 target competition with no need to refill the machine.
In common with our larger commercial machines the
Harrier has the Promatic developed proven “Knife Edge”

RUST RESISTANCE
As our manufacturing plant and design team are based
in the UK, we know a thing or two about the harshest
weather. Our approach to Rust Proofing is to treat each
individual component separately using stainless steel,
alloys, polyester coating, zinc plating or gold
passivating.

LEFT HANDED
MINIS
Our new Double trap gives you a unique target
presentation – two targets one above the other, barely
inches apart. Target setters can control the angle
between the pair, tilt, turn and speed of the target.
A sensational new target with double the fun.
Why would you want to make a left
handed trap? Well, watch someone
throw a Frisbee right handed and then
left handed – see how it flies and curls
in a totally different way.
Our Ranger or Sporter 400 TT can be
specified in left handed format so that
you can set a unique challenge to
shooters with targets that turn and curl
in a manner beyond what they usually
expect.
Mini targets are becoming increasingly
popular among target setters across
the world. However, making a reliable
Mini machine goes far beyond simply
supplying you with some form of
carousel insert. While at first sight
this looks like a simple solution, it
simply does not work! The reason is
that the weight and size of a Mini
means you need to have a specifically
designed carousel, dropping
mechanism and ‘Knife Edge’ if you
want to achieve consistent zero no
birds. And a Promatic trap is not a
Promatic unless it can achieve zero no
birds year after year regardless of the
weather, target size or any other
external factor. All of our Club and
Commercial models can be upgraded
to throw Minis.
BATTUES
We manufacture Battue machines to suit both club and
commercial grounds. All can throw Battues right side up
or upside down and the advanced models have tilt
bases, giving you the ability to throw a curling target with
performance and reliability that beats any other machine.
MIDIS
From the single stack Super Hawk to
the ultimate Super Sporter you
have the option of using Midi
clays. All of the carousel
machines are simply upgraded
or can be specified when
ordered to come in Midi
format.
WOBBLE
Wobble traps provide both target

Weekend clubs all over the world use the Eagle –

rapid re-cocking time, 275-300 target capacity

KNIFE EDGE
Often imitated but never matched,
our Dual Knife Edge System leads
the market. Some other machines
use single blades or have knives
which chip or scrape the clay
leading to no-birds and dust building
up on the machine. Using hardened
machined blades which can be
precision adjusted to match any
clay, our unique system lifts and
separates the clays. It works every
time regardless of rain, heat or
frost.

In addition to the standard Eagle, the series also
includes Eagle DTL/ATA, Eagle Mini and the
Eagle Battue.
The DTL/ATA has a powerful oscillating motor
giving random target presentation while the
Eagle Mini has a dedicated Mini carousel.
The Battue is ideal for Sporting clays or
Compact/5-Stand because it is sturdy and
durable, with strong performance and a 300
target capacity carousel.
It allows you to load the battues in the carousel
right way up or upside down for two different
target presentations. You have a very simple set
up, with no special adjustments required.
A comprehensive range of optional accessories,
including radio releases and an DTL/ATA base,
are available so that the Eagle can grow as the
club grows.

RANGER CLUB ABT/WOBBLE
WITH DUAL RAPID RESPONSE
WOBBLE MOTORS.
Also in the Ranger series is the Ranger Club
ABT/Wobble trap with rapid response dual motors,
giving wobble movement on the horizontal and
vertical plains. Based on the standard Ranger
Sporter, this ABT/Wobble has six different rotation
angle settings and three different elevation angle
settings. The machine features a built-in timer,
which stops the oscillation motors once shooting
has finished – thus extending battery life between
charges.
TRUE PAIR
Take two high power Ranger Sporters, one right
handed and one left handed, mount them on a
purpose designed frame and use a clever
electrical control to give precise simultaneous
release. The result is true simultaneous targets
including a low level crossing true pair. A shooter’s
dream!

STANDARD, LEFT-HANDED THROWER, MIDI,
MINI, ABT/WOBBLE, BATTUE
The Sporter 400 TT with its 400 target
capacity plus Tilt and Turn (TT) base is
designed and built specially for the world
market. It has even more power, a 33 per cent
increase in capacity, heavier duty components,
uprated electronics and the capability to fire
clays below the horizontal. With two Standard
variations, a Midi, Mini, ABT/Wobble and
Battue, you can specify the Sporter 400 TT
Series across your entire Sporting, FITASC or
Compact/5-Stand course.
An upgraded high torque motor, matched to a
high resilience gearbox and mechanics,
enables the trap to handle the additional usage
seen in a harsh commercial environment. We
can supply the Sporter 400 TT as a left handed
trap to throw a totally different flight profile.
All six models in the series have a commonality
of parts and set up. This makes the job for
ground staff much easier because course
changes, maintenance and trap servicing are
easily learned and apply to all models. The
Sporter 400 TT also integrates perfectly with
our specialist traps — Chondel, Rabbit and
Squirrel. The ability to throw a clay below the
horizontal makes this trap ideal for use on a
high tower, giving the course designer or
training instructor the opportunity to present a
testing rapidly descending bird. This feature
has only previously been available in our high
end Super Sporter Tower machines but our
design team have managed to incorporate the
technology into the Sporter 400 models.

This is the International Competition standard trap
used by the World’s top shooting facilities. The Super
Sporter has had years of hard use from the -30°
winters of Moscow through the heat of a Texas
summer and the harshness of sitting on top of a
tower in the wilds of Scotland – and always works
day after day, year after year. That is why it is the trap
of choice for those demanding the very best.
Our simple and efficient design uses the finest
components and alloys available to deliver unbeatable
performance and versatility in a rugged heavy duty
package, building on the strength of the original
Sporter machine.
How much power do you need? This is the ultimate
machine which can throw a target 130yds/390ft, out
performing all others. The series is fully featured
including elevation back to 70 degrees for near
vertical teal targets with the ability to lean the machine
over to throw curling clays.
Available as the standard Super Sporter 8 (400
targets) or uprated Super Sporter 10 (550 targets)
which offers hours of shooting between refills.
Developed using the proven Super Sporter
technology, the Promatic Downhill Thrower provides

Two versions are available (Super Sporter 8
ABT/Wobble and Super Sporter Tower) with all the
features of our smaller ABT/Wobble traps in a high
performance heavy duty package. Both models
have seven elevation angle settings and
9 rotation angle settings. They are available with

inches apart, at any angle from zero to ± thirty

A Hunter and Wingshooter’s dream, the

Our range of Skeet traps is one of the largest available
and covers small club traps through to large capacity
high usage commercial machines. All use proven

Throughout the UK, USA, Russia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada,

complete Olympic Trap solutions.
Promatic traps are competition recognised, approved and comply
with all ISSF regulations. In 2005 the newly installed Puerto Rico
facility hosted the prestigious IX Championship of the Americas
with elite competitors from the North, Central and South Americas
competing for Olympic places for the 2012 Olympic Games in

At a time when Range owners are concentrating on maximising their income, Promatic Claymate have released the Wi- Card Clay Counting system.
Claymate users report sales increasing by 30% to 40% and clay usage falling by 30%. For many clubs it has meant the difference between a successful

Wi-Card uses what look like standard plastic credit cards, but embedded in the card are clever electronics which, when held close to the control unit, use
secure wireless communication to count the number of clays a shooter throws. As there are no contacts on the cards or the control units, the system

The cards are low cost and you can decide if shooters
have to pre-pay (buy their targets before shooting) or
run a membership system (the shooter settles up his
bill based on the number of targets shot). For the first
time you have total flexibility in charge rates; you can
charge different rates for sporting or skeet, members
or guests. You can even charge different rates per
station for things like expensive rabbit targets.
High security encryption means that cards are unique to your ground and can be locally printed,
thus acting as a club membership card. At the day’s end you simply walk around the ground with
your master card to automatically close down each station, thus ensuring no unauthorised use
of the ground during closed hours. This is vital if your ground has restricted opening hours or
you are concerned about people coming onto the course outside of opening hours.
In line with the philosophy of keeping it simple to use, no PC is needed to operate the system.
Later we will be releasing Pro-Club, a full PC based Club Membership system which will integrate
with the cards and utilise data recorded and downloaded from each card.
Shooters will love the cards. They are the same size and thickness as a credit card with no
batteries or connections. Place the card within 1 inch of the sensitive pad to operate. The ultra
large LCD display shows the shooter what is happening at all times, including a target count
while the inbuilt speaker gives audio confirmation to the user such as the Solo Shooter audible
countdown.

The courses are specific to your machines and your requirements and
no prior knowledge of traps is needed or assumed. All staff trained
will receive an accreditation certificate at the end of the training. The
course can either be held on your site or at our premises.
Do you need help with the set up and installation of your traps?
MAINTENANCE
As part of our services to ground owners and clubs we can
deliver, install, commission and test each machine. We have a
team of trained personnel who use our own fleet to deliver the
traps, unload them, place them in position, commission each
machine and go through a pre-set test routine to ensure that
everything is working perfectly. You can combine this with our
on-site training so that your operatives learn all about safely
using the traps and routine maintenance procedures.
For large clubs and commercial facilities we
provide a bespoke maintenance service. We
will visit your ground on a regular basis,
typically twice yearly, to maintain each of your
traps. Each machine will be cleaned,
lubricated, tested, adjusted and, if necessary,
have parts replaced under warranty free of
charge. Our professional maintenance staff
are qualified to work on any of our machines.
Costs are quoted on a fixed price basis to include all labour, parts,
material and travel.
Regularly maintaining your machines will mean less down time, longer
asset lives and happier customers!
