We are well in to Term 1 and there are lots of exciting things happening
at HIK! Here’s a look at what’s been happening in each of our classrooms!
The Caterpillars
The Caterpillars have been getting to know one another
very well this past month! We have been enjoying our
circle time songs, and using our “Who is Here Today?”
pictures and board. All of the Caterpillar have enjoyed
finding and recognising their pictures around the
classroom, as well as learning how to greet their
friends,
and
how
to ask
for what
they
need.
Caterpillars have all settled very nicely and we have had
so much fun making crafts, and enjoying the wonders of
paint, glitter, foam, water, and anything else we could
get our hands on! and We are looking forward to
another wonderful month ahead!
The Cocoons
Has a month gone by already? It sure has been a
truly wonderful one in the Cocoon class! We have
been learning all about each other and ourselves. We
have been trying our best to share the toys and work
together as a class. The Cocoon students have
painted a beautiful class tree and have created lots
of great artwork! This week we took our first field
trip to Nghia do park!
everyone
thoroughly
It was very exciting and
enjoyed
themselves.
The
weather is slowly changing, and the Autumn season
will be our theme for the next several weeks. We
look forward to celebrating this special time of year
with you at our annual Mid-Autumn Festival!
The Dragonflies
We have buzzed through the first four weeks of school! It‟s
been a busy month indeed. We have been meeting old
friends, making new friends, and learning all about
ourselves. Students have adjusted to their new space with
ease, and have had fun creating and decorating their
classroom. Everyday, we‟ve been using our Who‟s Here
Today? board. We have created a little garden of growing
flowers, hand printed paintings, and we‟ve loads of fun with
sensory play! We have also been busy learning our phonics
sounds, „s‟ and „a.‟ Dragonflies have been learning nursery
rhymes, our phonic songs, and doing lots of dancing! Overall,
it has been a wonderful first 4 weeks, and we are very
excited for the next four! Go Dragonflies!
The Butterflies
Our first month of school was all about being back at school
and getting to know ourselves and everyone around us. The
Butterflies had fun painting and exploring their physical
appearance, as well as describing their families and friends.
The best part of this theme was definitely drawing our
faces on the mirror. The children absolutely loved it! We
also started the Jolly Phonics program, and not a day has
gone by without the Butterflies singing "The Snake is in the
Grass.” All in all, we have definitely been working hard in the
Butterfly class and the classroom decor is coming along very
nicely, you are all very welcome to pop in and have a look!
Hamster - K1
K1 and Hamster class have been having so much fun! We
have been talking about friendships, making friends,
singing friendship songs, working together on shared
activities and enjoying a class tea party together!
We have read stories on the theme of friendship and will
be working on role playing scenarios over the coming
weeks to help us understand how to treat our friends. We
are looking forward to learning more about the
Vietnamese culture in the coming weeks, making fun
decorations for the Mid-Autumn celebration, learning
songs, and having our mummies and daddies come to school
for our party on September 25th!
