Life in our house…the neighbor dropped by with comforting words, something like, “Treasure these times because they go by so fast.” Not sure she loved the look I shot her. I can remember trying to bring a sense of calmness to my home with the family rosary. Not sure we said holy, devout rosaries…my recollection is the dog barking, kids squirming on the coach, and my husband saying the fastest Hail Mary’s ever recited. The nest is empty now…more time to reflect-quiet rosaries being prayed with my husband. But, it’s not better, just different. What I am sure of is that the time of raising kids, despite the chaos, is a holy time. Amid all the noise, amid all the end of the day fatigue, my neighbor (who happened to be a grandma) was right…those were treasured times. So, go ahead and shoot me a look. These are treasured times for you, too. Raising children has its trials, but no doubt God will richly bless you and carry you, especially when you need His grace most. May this time of Advent bring moments (even short ones) of quiet stillness to your home and your heart. In the Triumph of God’s Great Love, Maureen Engen Principal Sacred Heart School Newsletter December 4, 2015 Giving Thanks for Grandparents Sacred Heart School Newsletter Middle School Band & Choir Concert There is nothing better to get us in the Christmas spirit than an evening of children performing Christmas music. Sacred Heart School Newsletter December 4, 2015 Academic Excellence & Achievement Highlights of December Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will be working on symbols of the season and their legends, Advent, and preparing for the birth of Jesus. The students will also be working on learning the author, illustrator, and the main event of a story. Kindergarteners will be building nativity scenes with their buddies as well as making stockings, advent wreaths, and a count down chain to Christmas. 1st Grade: In 1st grade, they are studying about Advent. The students are learning that Advent is a time about waiting and anticipating, the meaning of the Advent Wreath, and preparing to celebrate the birth of Christ. 2nd Grade: The 2nd graders are celebrating the season of Advent by preparing themselves and waiting patiently for the birth of Jesus. The students are following an Advent calendar with a different activity each day to keep them focused on the real meaning of Advent. Yearbook Club SHOJ Staff Quick Shot Dear 8th grade families, The yearbook club is putting baby/toddler pictures of all of the eighth graders in the yearbook like we have before. We would like you to send in a baby/toddler picture of your eighth grader to put in the yearbook. We would prefer if you would send in a digital copy to Mrs.Barragree by emailing it to her school email, [email protected] or putting it on a jump drive and bringing the jump drive to the office or to Mrs. Barragree.
