Mitutoyo’s leading-edge ABSOLUTE encoder never forgets its
absolute origin throughout the entire battery life, unless it is
otherwise preset for a different setup. It immediately indicates
the absolute position of the spindle at power-on, ready to start
measurement. This technology also eliminates spindle over-speed
error, a phenomenon that is usually unavoidable in incremental type
indicators.

❚ Maximum/minimum value based measurement
A comparison measurement can be made on the basis of the
detected maximum or minimum values that has been zero-set. For
example, this method is convenient for measurement in which the
maximum value at a workpiece peak is zero-set and other values
are measured in comparison with this vaue.

The indicator can be operated remotely by using the remote
controller, or a personal computer via the built-in RS232C
interface.
❚ Two ways of measuring
A measurement can be made relative to zero (Incremental) or
relative to an arbitrary value entered into the display (Absolute),
whichever is most convenient.

The setting conditions can be locked to prevent them being

Remote operation without contact with the indicator body ensures

Main functionality

❚ Improvement in workability with the LCD readoutrotation function
The LCD readout can be switched 180˚ to allow easy reading in
multipoint measurement situations where space is restricted.
❚ Back plunger design: ID-B
We have succeeded in digitalization of the back plunger type
widely used for dial indicators. A 5mm-stroke plunger with a
higher degree of accuracy has been implemented by adopting a
direct reading scale for plunger displacement instead of the usual
magnifying mechanism using gears.
❚ Built-in tolerance judgment function
This function provides OK, +NG, or -NG judgment of measurement
with respect to the preset upper and lower limit values, indicating
the status of a measurement with the appropriate symbol.
If required, only the OK/NG judgment can be displayed and in this
case the symbols are much larger.
❚ Switchable resolution
The 0.001mm (.00005”)
model can be switched to
0.01mm (.0005”) resolution
if required. Accuracy remains
constant irrespective of the
resolution setting

❚ Proven ABS (absolute) sensor

Our unique ABS sensor restores the last origin position
automatically when the indicator is turned on. This allows
quick-start operation, which is especially useful in multipoint
measurement. Also, INC measurements can be made from any
arbitrary position at the touch of a button, with restoration to ABS
measurement mode being just as easy.

Carbide contact points are standard on these indicators to provide
outstanding durability. The full range of interchangeable Mitutoyo
indicator contact points, spindle extension rods, etc., are also
available to extend the range of application.
❚ Rated to IP66 water- and dust-proofing standard and oil
resistance improved
❚ Waterproof data output connector
All models incorporate a data output connector that maintains the
water resistance of the indicator. This output function enables you
to develop an SPC measuring system based on the measurement
data collected. The connector is provided with external zero-set
and external preset recall terminals so you can not only perform
zero-setting or preset recall remotely, but also batch zero-setting or
preset recall for all indicators during multi-point measurement. This
can improve measurement efficiency enormously.
This indicator can be used satisfactorily even in adverse
environments where it is subject to splashing by cutting fluid and
coolant. Oil-resistant materials are used for external parts such as
switches.

Tolerance judgment
The Absolute Digimatic indicator performs internal calculations using
the formula Ax+B+Cx-1 (assuming spindle displacement as x) while
the specified coefficients A, B and, C can be set with a respect to the
purpose of measurement or dimensions of the fixtures. This unique
feature allows you to read your measurements directly, without
fumbling for conversions.
Setting the upper/lower limits produces a display of tolerance
judgments, thus making it easy to fractionate for the utmost in
accuracy.
Large display LCD
A large LCD makes it easy to read the settings of arithmetic
coefficients, as well as tolerance judgments and other aspects of the
measuring process.
Data output
The Absolute Digimatic indicator can even output data to a data
processor. This allows the recording of measuring results and the
configuration of a system that includes process control via the data
processor. Additionally, arithmetic coefficients can be set from the
connected personal computer rather than the indicator itself.
Display hold
The Display Hold function is useful when LCD viewing is difficult
during measurement.
Maximum value and minimum value can be held, as well.
