The T.V. show American Pickers has become very popular.
I get two or three people per week asking me if I watch it. I also
get asked about the show Hoarders. The answer is yes, I have
seen both of the shows but don’t necessarily follow them. That
is because in my world, we see these things first hand.
This brings me to Mr. Ross Slagle’s estate and the sale we
are presenting to you. Mr. Slagle, at the age of fifteen, went
to work for silver dollars in Colorado. When he got thirty
silver dollars he bought his first car, a Model T. That was the
beginning of his life long desire, to own things with wheels. He
began collecting, the collection turned into full barns, a full
house, and eventually a full farm. Mr. Slagle was known for
buying all kinds of collectibles, but never selling a single thing.
There are machines in the woods that have trees growing
through them. I am personally spending two weeks with crew
just pulling cars, trucks, tractors, bulldozers, parts, etc. out of
the barns and woods.
Before you ask, here is the answer. Yes, 90% of the vehicles
were in five barns, and they were all running when they went
in. Except for a collection of dirt and dust, they are in good
condition. We have started some of them, but will not have
time to start all of them between now and sale day. Here’s my
suggestion: bring your truck and trailer, and come early! My
crew will help park.
We will be staying in Topeka at the Holiday Inn Express.
They have a great facility located only 35 minutes to the sale.
There will be plenty of food and water at the sale. This is a full
two day sale. There is something here for everybody. This will
be a sale you will talk about for years to come.
