1. Cafe 118 www.cafe118.com Located off Park Ave in Winter Park, Cafe 118 promotes balance and health through the food they serve. They use fresh, flavorful, locally sourced organic ingredients in their cuisine. Their goal is to “provide modern raw cuisine that will benefit your everyday life and those you share it with.” Their commitment to you is to provide pure organic food in its most natural state. You will not find dairy, soy, or artificial sweeteners in any of their food. You definitely need to try this place if you have not already! 2. Dandelion Communitea Cafe http://DandelionCommunitea.com/ Conveniently located near the intersection of Mills and Colonial, this tucked away cafe is a GREAT find!! They serve REAL food- local and organic whenever possible. They pride themselves on serving a menu that is free of saturated & trans fats, refined sugars, additives, artificial sweeteners, & GMO’s. They also have plenty of Gluten Free options! 3. Infusion Tea www.InfusionOrlando.com/ An amazing little cafe in College Park, you can find an endless variety of vegetarian only organic salads, panini’s wraps, and even healthy “pizza” here! Everything is homemade and absolutely delicious. It’s work the trip alone just for their tea selection. www.ForteFitness.com 4. Seasons 52: www.Seasons52.com With 2 convenient locations (one on Sand Lake Rd. & one near the Altamonte Mall), you can always find a good meal at Seasons 52! If you have never been to Seasons 52, they are a “fresh grill and wine bar that invites guests to discover the sensational flavors of a seasonally-inspired menu.” The really great thing about their menu- is that it really DOES change with the seasons! You are guaranteed a delicious dish created with the most fresh and seasonal ingredients. 5. Ethos Vegan Kitchen: www.EthosVeganKitchen.com Near downtown Orlando across from beautiful Lake Ivanhoe, Ethos’s menu is “100% vegan and features hearty, homestyle fare.” From homemade soups, to salads, to wraps, the flavors are AMAZING! Even if you are not vegan (which I am not) you will find something one-of-a-kind at Ethos! 6. Winter Park Honey www.WinterParkHoney.com This is one of my FAVORITE finds! I have been getting Winter Park Honey for years now and absolutely love it. It’s a family owned company and their honey is raw, unheated, unfiltered and unstrained to preserve the honey's natural healthful benefits. Since it’s all made from the nectar from local flowers, it’s AMAZING at reducing allergy symptoms (not to mention all the other tremendous health benefits!) 7. Slow Food Orlando www.SlowFoodOrlando.org A non-profit organization dedicated to the Slow Food Movement (think opposite of fast food!) – sustainable local agriculture that’s good for you, the earth, and our community. Check their website for fun events for the whole family, gala parties, field trips to farms, learning opportunities, cooking demos and opportunities to taste test some amazing food grown or raised right here in Central Florida! www.ForteFitness.com 8. Cocina 214 www.Cocina214.com Brand new contemporary gourmet Mexican food made with local ingredients and sustainable meats wherever possible. Grass fed beef and organic chicken are available on most entrees and gluten free options are clearly marked right on the menu. Be sure to order the guacamole – chock full of healthy fats and flavor. 9. Sustain Natural Foods www.SustainNaturalMarket.com Owned by Master Herbalist Paul Dragon, Sustain Natural Market has a great array of natural and local organic produce options. They also have bulk bins of nuts, seeds, grains, plus a mini farmer’s market in the parking lot on Sunday afternoons. Be sure to check out the selections of organic wine, bath and body care, vitamins and supplements 10. Lombardi’s Seafood www.LombardisMarketplace.net A long time Winter Park/Orlando tradition – Lombardi’s has been offering fresh and frozen seafood for as long as I can remember. Conveniently located near 17-92, Lombardi’s regularly carries diet friendly fresh tuna, crab meat, cod, haddock, salmon, grouper and more. Spices and other seafood cooking tools are also available. VERY knowledgeable staff. They even carry frozen alligator meat! 11. Winter Park Spice and Tea Exchange www.SpiceAndTea.com Bryan and Jeffery’s Spice and Tea Exchange is a great place to go for delicious ways to add flavor to your home cooked meals without adding oodles of calories. They have many salt-free and no calorie spice blends for you to choose from, as well as a wall of flavorful healthy teas. Adrienne’s favorite product there is the ghost pepper infused sea salt… SPICY! www.ForteFitness.com 12. Chamberlain’s www.Chamberlins.com Multiple locations of various sizes are all over Greater Orlando - the largest stores feature a deli with pre made items, bulk bin areas and an extensive selection of organic produce, vitamins, supplements, etc. Lots of great items in the freezers as well. 13. Gurtzberry www.Gurtzberry.com Take a stroll down Park Ave and end up at Gurtzberry (124 E Morse Blvd Winter Park) for some probiotic rich delicious frozen yogurt! Arguably the best-flavored green tea yogurt in town (Adrienne has done extensive research on this) as well as other flavors of low-fat, lower calorie desert treats. Be careful though, they also have gelato and ice cream – if self-control is not your strong point you may wish to avoid it. 14. Greens & Grille www.GreensAndGrille.com Two locations – Millenia and out by UCF – Greens & Grill offers a fully customizable menu of delicious salads and smart proteins. Build Your Own menu options allow you to ramp up the nutrition while avoiding unhealthy options. Helpful staff can steer you toward lower calorie dressings and other options. 15. Williams Sonoma Winter Park www.williams-sonoma.com Adrienne recently made the acquaintance of Logan, who works at the Park Ave Williams Sonoma location – he is now well aware of the Primal and Paleo eating plans and can help you select the appropriate tools of the trade to make healthy home cooking even more fun. Also available – handy items like reusable washable produce bags to take with you to the farmer’s markets around town. Healthy eating at home can be tons of fun when you have the right tool for the job. Everyone is helpful, but try and find Logan if you can – he’s done research for you! www.ForteFitness.com 16. Eden’s Fresh Co www.EdensFresh.com/ Delightful small café serving only salads and wraps – fresh ingredients and plenty of choices – you can also add lean meats to any salad or wrap or choose to go vegetarian with tofu or just a bunch of delicious freshly chopped vegetables. Over 30 salad toppings to choose from and infinite possibilities. Light dressings or dressing on the side always available too. Winter Park and Downtown, lunch hours only. 17. Winter Park Farmer’s Market www.cityofwinterpark.org Every Saturday this ultra-popular farmers market is held at the old train depot at 200 W. New England Ave in downtown Winter Park from 7AM to 1PM. Produce, plants, snacks and even local organic meats available from a variety of booths. Be on the look out for strange and exotic items like locally made kombucha, Winter Park Honey, Winter Park Blue Cheese, goat meat, and more! 18. Drunken Monkey http://www.drunkenmonkeycoffee.com Quirky little independent coffeehouse that also has wraps, sandwiches, and oodles of organic, vegan and vegetarian treats. Be sure to check out the gluten free options, high end healthy beverages like kombucha , and even a few fantastic energy bars. They even (only slightly reluctantly) served Adrienne a plate of sliced roast beef and lettuce one day. Free wi-fi, board games and other activities in this indie clubhouse. 19. Whole Foods www.wholefoodsmarket.com/ Two locations in Greater Orlando (one in Winter Park and one on Sand Lake Rd.) Both feature organic fruits, vegetables, and a nice meat counter. Be sure to look for grass fed beef, organic eggs, bacon etc. Full deli and premade meals are also available in addition to gourmet specialty food selections. www.ForteFitness.com 20. Stardust Video and Coffee http://stardustvideoandcoffee.wordpress.com/ Undeniably indie, Stardust Video and Coffee is much less a video rental store these days than in the past - but that’s ok! The menu features fresh, mostly healthy items – vegetarian and vegan options as well as omnivorous delights. Be sure to look for green and herbal teas, GT’s Raw Kombucha and organic treats. Stardust’s parking lot is also the location of the Audubon Park Community Market (see next entry). 21. Audubon Park Community Market http://apmarket.wordpress.com/ Monday evenings from 6pm to 10pm in the parking lot of Stardust, just SECONDS away from the Forte Fitness Bootcamp site in Baldwin Park. The market features local, often sustainably grown fruits, veggies and meats as well as prepared meals and sometimes a visit from the delicious local food trucks. Be sure to visit the Deep Creek booth for amazing local humanely raised grass fed beef. 22. The Fresh Market www.TheFreshMarket.com Two locations in Greater Orlando (one on the corner of Conroy and Dr. Phillips, the other in Altamonte Springs, Lake Brantley Area). Catering primarily to a foodie/gourmet crowd, but featuring top of the line organic fruits and veggies, a fantastic seafood and meat counter, full deli, and a great selection of organic dairy products. Delicious high- end international selections as well with a helpful staff. www.ForteFitness.com 23. Teavana www.Teavana.com With two mall locations in Greater Orlando (Altamonte Springs and Florida Mall), this national chain of high-end tea stores has a great variety of green, white, rooibos, black, and oolong teas. Many of these can be prepared as delicious, healthy treats with little or no calories. The health benefits of green tea never tasted so good. Also be sure to check out the Strawberry Slender Pu-erh tea with an open mind – this cave-aged Chinese tea’s distinctive traditional flavor is enhanced with dried strawberries. Some research suggests this tea can help with cholesterol regulation, digestion, and can promote weight loss when accompanying a sensible diet and exercise program. 24. Big Wheel Provisions Food Truck www.bigwheeltruck.com/ The urban food truck mania has finally hit Orlando – though you have to be sure to pay attention closely – there’s a small but very fervent community of local food fans who follow their favorite mobile eats via facebook and twitter. Also check out the Crooked Spoon Food Truck: http://www.facebook.com/thecrookedspoon Some offerings are healthier than others, so make sure you do your research when chasing food trucks around town. Also, several food trucks circle up every Tuesday night in Maitland at the Food Truck Café in Lake Lily Park from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. 25. Pom Pom’s Tea House & Sandwicheria www.PomPomsTeahouse.com Quirky little café with local art, a vast array of teas and delicious sandwich/salad offerings. Keep to your vegetarian or Primal/Paleo diet with relative ease here – Adrienne’s favorite is the “Mama’s Triple Meat Salad” with Basil dressing on the side. Alicia will sometimes splurge on a nutritious sandwich. In addition to all the creative food offerings you can also design your own salad. Beware the cupcakes, you WILL be tempted. www.ForteFitness.com 26. Boathouse Restaurant www.BoatHouseofWinterPark.com/ This restaurant is focused on ethically sourced, delicious local ingredients. The kitchen is also happy to make you delicious grass fed beef bun-less burgers and other menu variations for primal/paleo eaters. It’s very easy to be low carb at this great eatery, but there are also many temptations, so be careful! Sous Chef Lindsay also makes some of the best pickles and pickled veggies you’ve had in a very long time! 27. Chinese Tea Culture www.chineseteaculture.com Authentic and fantastically priced Chinese and Japanese teas – this one of a kind store is located in the Sanford Mall of all places, but worth the drive for a visit. A great selection of flavorful and health promoting teas to include green, black, oolong, white, pu-erh, rooibos, chai, and gorgeous blooming teas. Authentic cast iron and yixing clay teapots as well as an array of exotic gift items. 28. Maitland Farmer’s Market www.itsmymaitland.com In case you missed the Winter Park Farmer’s Market, you can check out the Maitland Farmer’s market in Lake Lily Park every Sunday. Fresh fruit, vegetables, local eggs, and assorted treats await. Great deals on fresh food, there’s no excuse to not eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit at these prices. 29. Amura http://amura.com/ Amura is one of my FAVORITE places for sushi. Everything is extremely fresh and the flavors are delicious. It’s hidden off Church Street in downtown Orlando, although there are 2 other locations (Lake Mary and Sand Lake Rd.) If sushi is on your agenda for the night, definitely give Amura a go! www.ForteFitness.com 30. Homegrown Central Florida Organic Co-op www.homegrowncoop.org Convenient way to buy local produce, organic meats, treats, herbs, teas and health food products. Prepared vegan meals also available for pre-order! On Thursdays the general public can shop without having a membership. Members can place orders online and either pick them up or if you are close enough, have them delivered to your home! 31. Powerhouse Café www.powerhousecafe.com A downtown Winter Park favorite for over 35 years, the Powerhouse Café serves up fresh smoothies (with no added sugar!), wraps, sandwiches, salads, and various Mediterranean specialties like hummus, baba gannouj, tabbouleh, stuffed grape leaves etc. Vegetarian, vegan and omnivores will all find something delightful to enjoy. Be sure to check out the ever-changing lunch specials. 32. Avalon Park Farmer’s Market www.avalonpark.com Every Sunday from 11am-3pm In Avalon Park’s Founders Square. Enjoy fresh local produce, pasta, bakery items (careful!), local honey, as well as gifts, arts and crafts. 33. Mellow Mushroom www.mellowmushroom.com/winterpark Order carefully and you can do quite well at this family friendly quirky pizza place. The salads are easily Primal/Paleo-able, and the staff seems open to suggestions like “hey can I get some steak on that salad?” Gluten free pizza crust available if you can’t resist, along with healthy appetizers like hummus and soups. Vegan/Vegetarian/Gluten-free friendly. www.ForteFitness.com 34. Bosphorus Restaurant www.bosphorousrestaurant.com Elegant and exotic, Bosphorus offers Turkish food specialties like exquisitely spiced lamb, chicken and now beef. The vegetables served alongside are colorful, at least mostly raw, and extremely delicious. I forgo the rice completely in exchange for more veggies – making their incredible Donar Kebab platter strictly “Paleo”. Beware the large puffy bread – you will want to dunk it into the hummus. 35. Wild Ocean Market www.wildoceanmarket.com Located on the coast, but distributed through several of the local farmer’s markets, Wild Ocean offers delicious, ethically sourced wild seafood at fantastic prices – check out their website and twitter feed to keep up on the specials and locations. Fish, shrimp from wild sources as much as is possible for maximum nutrition and flavor. 36. Olde Cup and Saucer www.oldecupandsaucer.com Specialty loose tea shop which now has a full size tea room – open for lunch and traditional afternoon tea. Small but interesting menu with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options available. Many of their teas are so flavorful that you can get the flavor and satisfaction of candy/chocolate without the calories. Etiquette classes, tea tastings, chocolate tastings and more are regular events. 37. Freshfields Farms www.freshfieldsfarm.com Local food market that specializes only in natural beef, chicken, pork, seafood, dairy and fresh produce. Organic options and a few choice deli items are available as well – be sure to visit the specials page for some great deals on organic items and USDA choice beef. Wrap Planet www.WrapPlanet.com Right near Rollins College, Wrap Planet has healthy, picnic ready wraps, breakfast wraps, daily vegan soups, smoothies, tacos, power wraps, salads and snacks like guacamole and hummus. Free delivery within a limited area and unbelievably good lunch specials. 39. Deep Creek Ranch www.DeepCreekRanch.us/ Local, humane and ethical livestock farmer in DeLeon Springs, FL – they distribute through many of the local farmer’s markets so be sure to check in for this delicious meat. Grass fed beef and lamb naturally pasture fed on this 100 year old+ Florida family farm. Check in with them to find out when you and your family can visit to taste burgers, go on a hay ride, meet the farmers, the herd, and get a great discount on some of the highest quality meat in the area. 40. Yellow Dog Eats www.YellowDogEats.com Way out in the boonies of Gotha, this unique eatery in an old farmhouse has some of the best low carb dishes in town – the Thin Elvis is a large scoop of delicious house made succulent pulled pork topped with crispy bacon wrapped in a lettuce leaf! Also available an amazing pulled pork salad (my fav), albacore tuna steak salad, smoked salmon salads and a kitchen staff ready to get creative just for you. Naked Pizza www.nakedpizza.biz/ Unique pizza place in Altamonte springs with prebiotic dough containing over 10 different types of seeds, nuts, extra fiber and probiotics. This special dough is apparently low glycemic and gluten free as well. Easy to find nutritional info on the website will help you make a great choice. Loads of veggies, healthy meats and “no freaky chemicals”. So have fun with pizza again! 42. Eat More Produce www.eatmoreproduce.com Local Winter Park produce stand that just keeps getting better! Choose from affordable produce, Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, wines, and now a full selection of Bob’s Red Mill dry goods… including nearly the whole line of gluten free baking mixes and flours. Bulk bags of snacks like dried fruits, nuts, and trail mixes are great for families too. Local grass fed ground beef, farm fresh eggs, and more. Super-helpful staff. 43. College Park Farmer’s Market College Park Market’s Facebook Fan Page Conveniently located in the parking lot of Infusion Tea (see previous entry) on Thursday evenings from 5PM to 9PM, this colorful community farmer’s market features produce from local organic producers, seafood, crafts, treats, and sustainable meats. 44. Moes Southwest Grill www.Moes.com Recently making a shift in their quality of their food, Moes has made our Top 50 list! Not only will you get a warm “Welcome to Moe’s!” when walking in, but you can expect: no trans-fats, no microwaves, no MSG, and over 20 fresh ingredients prepared each day! In fact, they now serve grass fed beef, grain-fed pork, and use local produce when possible! www.ForteFitness.com 45. Chipotle www.Chipotle.com Focused on sustainability, great nutrition and great value, Chipotle is one of my FAV places to grab a quick salad and know I am getting quality and delicious food! All of their dairy and meat comes from cows raised without any synthetic hormones. Chipotle has a very unique flavor profile….and we LOVE it! 46. Dragonfly www.DragonflyOrlando.com One of the ONLY Sushi restaurants and Robata grills in Orlando, you can order some incredibly delicious and very healthy items! Their robata grill is heated to 1000° where the proteins and produce are grilled so quickly, they maintain the essence of the food. Their sushi is also AMAZING and incredibly fresh. 47. 310 www.310parksouth.net 310 is committed to serving only the highest quality foods with the freshest ingredients. They serve their signatire salads, and have a beautiful selection of seafoods, steaks, and even Sunday Brunch!! If you find yourself wandering on Park Ave in Winter Park or Downtown Orlando, stop in for wonderful meal! 48. Luma On Park www.lumaonpark.com The menu at Luma is updated DAILY by Chef McGlamery to provide you with the most flavorful and freshest ingredients of the season. From start to finish, your meal at Luma will be quite the experience. Makes a great date night really special. www.ForteFitness.com 49. “K” http://KWinebar.com An unusual name for a restaurant, K is one of my favorite places to eat at! It’s so unique- you are bound to find something on the menu you have never tried before! The flavors are amazing. Not only does the menu change daily at K, but many of the ingredients for their meals are picked straight from the own garden behind their restaurant! 50. Mitchell’s Fish Market http://mitchellsfishmarket.com You can’t go wrong at Mitchell’s Fish Market in Winter Park Village. They have amazing selections of fresh fish, a menu that changes twice a day, and they stay focused on sustainability. They even have a gluten-free menu to order off of! Their tag line is “Fish any fresher would still be in the ocean.” Definitely a great place to check out if you haven’t yet been there!
