Substrate cover categories documented using the
modified Reef Check method (Hodgson et al., 2006)

(Chou et al., 1994), LC >75% is ‘Excellent’, 50-75% is ‘Good’,
25-50% is ‘Fair’ and <25% is ‘Poor’.
RESULT..
A total of 161 species, 54 genera and 15 families of
hard corals have been recorded in Labuan. All of
these species are illustrated in Veron (2000)

families.

- UNIMAS (1999) : Porites (18.7 %), Acropora (11.0 %),
Fungia (10.3 %), Pocillopora (9.0 %) and Montipora
(7.0 %).

CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS
• Monitoring & annual surveys.
• Permanent transect.
• Mooring buoys are needed if tourism
continues to expand.
