The 2010 Homes of Distinction Holiday Home Tour features seven
uniquely different tour locations - each fabulously decorated by talented
design professionals to showcase stunning holiday decor and hospitality
ideas.
We hope you enjoy your tour experience and that the Niagara Life Centre

An event such as this requires many enthusiastic, community minded
participants! None of this would be possible without them. First and
foremost, thanks to our home owners for opening their doors to us, our
many volunteers, for guiding us through the tour homes and serving lunch
and our featured decorators, artists and vendors who bring the tour homes
to life with their ingenious design ideas.

established in 1985, Niagara Life Centre offers hope
and support to women, men, teens, children and
families who find themselves in need of counseling.
Niagara Life Centre is a Christian-based counseling ministry,
providing aid for individuals experiencing life crises, including
marriage and family breakdown, depression, grief, anger, co-dependency,
unplanned pregnancy, parenting and post-abortion trauma.
Group and individual programs are offered.
Niagara Life Centre provides education and assistance in an effort
to establish coping skills for those in need. Our aim is to provide
hands-on assistance for the social, mental, spiritual, and physical needs
of those in crisis within the Niagara Region. We are committed to
professional standards and a caring non-judgemental approach to
people in need. The centre does not discriminate in any way,
and all services are free and confidential.
NLC is financially sustained entirely through donations from churches,
private donors and businesses and ongoing fundraising efforts.
A home tour is a wonderful way to raise funds and awareness for the NLC,
as its mission is central to restoring lives and building families.

History Revisited
St. John’s Anglican Church
3694 McKenzie Dr., Jordan

St. John’s Anglican Church was erected
in 1841 by Loyalists who had settled in
the village of Jordan, on the banks of
the Twenty Mile Valley Creek. The church, a blend of Gothic Revival with classic proportions and
designed by John Howard, was built on lands originally granted to
Thomas Butler of the Butlers Rangers, and later donated by the Ball
family. St. John’s was consecrated in 1854 by Bishop John Strachan,
the first bishop of Toronto. Be sure to stop in and see this beautiful
country Church on the tour, illustrating the story of a “Huron Carol”
style Christmas.

With over 20 years of design experience, and 13 years as a floral
design teacher at Niagara College, Melissa now works in the
wholesale floral industry and as a freelance designer. The decor focus
in this church has been with an eye to the past keeping with what
may have been available 300 years ago when Jesuit missionaries first
came to Canada to bring Christianity to the native peoples. We hope
you enjoy the Huron Carol experience that Melissa has re-created.
