The Mount Pearl Sport Alliance
incorporated in the fall of 1995 to provide an
advocacy role on behalf of the minor sport
clubs and associations in the City of Mount
Pearl. The Alliance provides and large number
of programs and services for the citizens of
our City and in particular the Amateur
Sports Faternity. Most of these programs
are funded by the Alliance, sponsors and the
assistance and financial support from the City
of Mount Pearl

Than To Fix An Adult
The Program
The sobeys gift certificate program is offered
to provide means of accumulating money to be paid on a
childs* behalf for participation in a sport, recreation or
extracurricular school related activity (i.e. choir trip)
How does it work?
You can purchase Sobeys gift certificates from
the Sport Alliance Office and 4% of your
purchase will be put into an account for
your child or any child to use towards a sport(s)
or recreation activity.
For example, If you spend $100 a week
on groceries, you will earn $208 a year
for your child’s account to pay for his/her sport(s)
Where are they Accepted?
The gift certificates can be used at any Sobeys, ,Foodland, Price
Chopper, Needs and Lawtons locations across Newfoundland.
They are available in $20, $25, and $50 amounts.
They are available in cards of $10, $25 & $50 amounts only to be
redeemed at Sobey’s.
How can you apply?
Stop into the Mount Pearl Sport Alliance Office
during regular business hours and pick up/fill out or
drop off an application form.
How can I use the money?
The money can be used to pay for things such as
registration fees, purchase of sporting equipment and it is
also available for use of extracurricular school related
activities.
how long can it stay in my account?
The money can remain in the account for as long as you are
using it. After 12 months of an inactive account a notification
will be sent out to ask if you wish to retain the account or
transfer the money to the general account
What happens to unused money?
A general account is created for the money that is not being
used to be placed it. The account balance is then used to
help a child of financial need.
