I-Valo was founded in 1971, and
it has been expanding ever since.
I-Valo is an innovative company
in the electrical branch, and in
2000 it became a limited company
in the Lexel Group. Our first
luminaires were engineered in
cooperation with major industrial
companies. The aim was to
develop luminaires that endure
the most severe industrial
conditions.
The result was the i-VALO
Horizontal, a luminaire that has
been successfully used in various
branches of industry.

MAINTENANCE
1. DUST PROTECTION
1.2 Dust rim
1.1 Filtering technique
All i-VALO High-bay luminaires
are equipped with a dust rim that
creates an "air cushion" and
prevents dust from gathering on
the outer surface of the glass.
The i-VALO industrial luminaires
have an enclosed construction
equipped with a unique, patented
filtering system. When switched
on or off, and during power
failures, pressure balancing of
i-VALO luminaires is arranged
through a filter, not through the
packing as in conventional
enclosed luminaires.
All components inside the
luminaire, e.g. the reflector, the
light source, and the front glass,
are completely protected against
dust and corrosive gases.
2. CORROSION RESISTANCE
All luminaires are supplied
complete with a fixing bracket to
facilitate mounting. The need for
maintenance is reduced to a
minimum. We also offer a wide
range of installation kits that make
maintenance and lamp changes
easy.
The external metal parts of the
luminaire are of aluminium, on
most types coated with Epoxy
powder to prevent corrosion in
conditions harmful to bare
aluminium.
4. FUNCTION OF THE LUMINAIRE

When switched on, the lamp warms up the air inside the
luminaire, and the warm air flows out through the filter drying
and cleaning it at the same time.
In both cases the air cushion directs air past the front glass
and prevents dust from gathering on the glass.

When switched off, air flows back into the luminaire through
the filter that removes impurities and gases from the air.
Filtering system

FILTER
i-VALO Standard luminaires are
equipped with a pressure
balancing filter that removes dust
and impurities larger than 10µm.
The pressure balancing filter
reduces contamination and
blackening.

i-VALO Low Bay and Regular
luminaires are equipped with dust
filters that remove dust and
impurities larger than 0,01µm.
The table below shows the
capacity of the dust filter.
i-VALO Horizontal luminaires are
equipped with a double-effect
filter incorporating dust and
charcoal elements. The doubleeffect filter also removes corrosive
gases.

Note
• Crane luminaires are supplied
with double-ended lamps. This
reduces the risk that possible
vibration loosens the lamp from
the socket.
• If Metal Halide lamps are used,
instant ignition is not
recommended, because the
starter is sensitive to vibration.
• Install the luminaire
transversally to the drive
direction of the crane.

Track mounting system
The track mounting system is designed to facilitate
servicing of high-bay luminaires in factories where
the use of scaffolding, lifting equipment, etc. is
difficult. Luminaires are mounted on tracks that
are installed on a running rail.

For servicing and lamp change, the luminaires
are easy to move to a servicing position and then
back to the original place.

When economy and quality come first
In many branches of industry,
dust and dirt will slowly but
permanently deteriorate the
illuminating capacity of lighting.
Consequences:
• increased number of errors
• decreased working efficiency
• increased risk of accidents
Reasons:
• high ambient temperature
• steam and moisture
• dust and other impurities
• corrosive gases
To constantly service and clean,
or to add more luminaires in order
to maintain the required lighting
standard is not an economical
solution! Over the average
economical life of a luminaire,
service expenses are much less
than the energy cost that is almost
three quarters of the total
expenses.
