TOUCHDOWN TOURS
ATHENS
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
The capital of Greece, Athens is a virtual open-air museum.
My family were one of thousands who migrated to Melbourne from Greece in the 1950’s
and 60’s. Although I was born an ‘Aussie’, the culture and traditions of my ancestors run
through my blood, and my passion for the country and its people have long been an integral
part of my life and thus, my business too.
The Greek heritage is reflected in every quaint little town in Naxos, every brightly coloured
church dome in Mykonos, and in every cobble-stoned street Plaka (Old Town Athens).
Greece’s rich history stands as proud as its iconic Acropolis of Athens, as it does with
magnificently well-preserved Castle of the Knights of St. John on the island of Rhodes in
the Dodekanese.
Where else can you find the sweet smell of jasmine blending with the salty taste of the sea
as you walk through traditional, narrow alleyways? Where can you still find islands which
have stood still in time, with no cars or motorbikes permitted, and where the local mode of
transportation is still the local donkey? And where do you find the most stunning volcanic
caldera views that exude romance beyond your deepest desires?
Only Greece.
Jaqui Preketes
It is in this spirit of love which I invite you to explore the beautiful Greek Islands with
Touchdown Tours.

Are you a good hiker and like to walk? This
unique day-tour will have you discovering one
of the most impressive ravines in the whole
of Europe! The enormous, rugged landscape
of Samaria Gorge is 18 km long, but we walk
only 16 km. Mother Nature has cut her way
through the bulky limestone masses. At a
leisurely pace, it will take around 5 hours to
reach the south coast. From here, we take

return by coach.
A visit to Crete is incomplete without visiting
the renowned Minoan Palace of Knossos,
two brilliant palaces built in Neolithic
times. Take in the Monastery of St. George
Epanosifi, and experience a unique trip to the
Cretan mountainside. En route, visit the small
village of Stironas, and stop at a genuine
raki distillery on privately owned farm. Enjoy
a glass of homemade wine, a treat of raki
and some local delicacies. In town, stop at
a trader’s workshop, where the potter will
unfold his skills for you and, if you are bold
enough, try to make your own creation!
The Greek Island of Santorini, the volcanic
half-moon island, is steeped in history, yet
is blended with a very cosmopolitan feel.
Its eternal black and red rocks continue to
stand, strong and majestic, rising proudly
from the sea and guarding well the secrets
of Atlantis. Join a unique experience cruising
from Heraklion to Santorini. From the port of
Heraklion, take a speed boat and learn about
the culture as you sail with your professional
guide. Time is at your leisure in Santorini, so
