SECURE BROADBAND HERE’S HOW How can you leverage Broadband technology to create a safer, stronger, better world when your existing equipment isn‟t really broadband? Raytheon Broadband applications work with your existing radio system, using gateways to connect radio systems to broadband without expensive upgrades. What if you could keep your existing equipment, but add trusted Broadband applications now with the funding you have now? Raytheon applications are modular, scalable, and upgradeable using commercial devices that can be used in multiple applications, so you are never “stuck” with old equipment. What if the applications you deployed now would seamlessly connect with the National Public Safety Broadband Network when it is completed? Broadband applications can use many of networks and assets you have today instead of dedicated, proprietary networks. Raytheon Broadband applications are based on open architecture and have many of the same network open interfaces as the NPSBN will have. Page: 12 12 Page Interop-7000 Media Control Server Easy to install and configure infrastructure product that provides interoperability between many types of devices over any size area “Data Collectors” access non-IP devices (such as radios) & provide local interoperability Scales to almost any size – suitable for small, medium, or large scale communication systems Accesses P25 systems (ISSI), 3G/4G/LTE networks, analog radio systems, telephone systems (PSTN), and network audio (SIP, RoIP) Hybrid Architecture combines the feature-rich Interop-7000 Media Control Server with the well-established and reliable “Distributed Architecture” of the ACU product line Interop-7000 Data Collector composition: • ACU-5000 • NCU-4 8/16/2013 Page 13 Interop-7000 Twisted Pair / WAVE ISSI Interface - Overview New or existing WAVE systems can now have direct ISSI interaction with remote P25 RFSS systems using the Raytheon Interop-7000 Media Control Server The Interop-7000 Media Control Server will contain a WAVE Engine component that will provide the transparent translation between the WAVE and P25 environments P25 User ID (UID) will be displayed in all Twisted Pair Solution WAVE Communicators Mobile Communicator Desktop Communicator Dispatch Communicator P25 SU (UID) 8/16/2013 Page 14 San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Office • Account Overview • • • • • In addition to being the primary law enforcement agency covering 3,200 square miles, the Sheriff is responsible for coroner services, the county jail which houses over 500 inmates, the civil division, and many special investigations units. Customer Challenge • SLO was operating on an aging Orbacom dispatch console system that had been EOL (end of life) for several years. There were no subject matter experts available and spare parts were only available on eBay. • SLO Sheriff desired interoperability and system patching capabilities with neighboring radio systems such as Atascadero PD, Morro Bay PD, CHP, CalFire and several others to improve mission response and officer safety. • SLO Sheriff desired PTT communications on smart devices for himself and his direct staff, Detectives, Gang Unit and other special units to decrease costs and improve communications effectiveness for those who don‟t traditionally carry LMR subscriber units. Solution • WAVE was chosen because of the standards-based open system architecture, speed to implementation, and lower total cost of ownership. • The SLO Dispatch system is operating 100% on WAVE dispatch with Raytheon ACU gateway for interoperability with their existing LMR. • The SLO Sheriff and 24 of his key direct reports and specialty units are using WAVE mobile for PTT communications Benefits • Enhanced flexibility and mobility – with WAVE dispatch they can dispatch from anywhere • Extension of their LMR system to smart devices • Interoperability to improve response and increase officer safety Growth • Extend LMR to include front line responders as well as specialty units • Success at SLO Sheriff has resulted in referrals and interest from numerous neighboring agencies Page 15 SAINTE-ANNE POLICE DEPARTMENT • The Sainte-Anne Police Department is one of five independent police forces in Manitoba, Canada with one of the lowest crime rates in the province • The direction of regional public safety planning would likely force departments like Ste. Anne's to adopt new and expensive digital radio systems that offered them little real benefit over existing analog systems • With a strong background in IT, the Sainte-Anne Police Chief felt that smartphones running voice applications could advance his communication capabilities further than the proposed radio upgrade • • BlackBerry smartphones running the WAVE Mobile Communicator application over the WAVE Connections cloud communications service now connect all Ste. Anne officers with a WAVE Desktop Communicator dispatch operation at the station „Law enforcement should be Officers use their BlackBerrys to instantly push-to-talk leading technology with other officers over their 3G and WiFi networks advancement, not following for instant, reliable and secure voice communications it.‟ Marc Robichaud http://twistpair.com/inc/data/casestudies/Sainte%20Anne%20Case%20Study.pdf Chief of Police Page 16 AIR EVAC LIFETEAM • AEL maintains a fleet of more than 100 helicopters stationed at more than 75 mutually-supporting air medical bases across 13 States • Operations are coordinated by 25 dispatchers from a single emergency dispatch center, with calls coming in from over 600 hospitals, 700 EMS agencies and more than half a million members • Old dispatch technology with limited capacity was clogging operations and was expensive to maintain • Lack of interoperability between radios and landlines hampered incident management • WAVE IP Dispatch solution gives every dispatcher instant access to any helicopter from a single console with one dispatcher per console • Full interoperability between radio channels and telephone lines, and full system redundancy “Our upgraded dispatch capabilities will ensure the fastest responses possible when patients‟ lives hang in the balance.” http://twistpair.com/inc/data/case-studies/Air%20Evac%20Case%20Study.pdf Don Looper, Systems Manager Page 17 One Force!
