Windbreak Renovation
Think twice before you want to remove your next row of tree from your field. Wouldn’t be great if you
could get it cost-shared. Well you can and we can work with you to replant the trees in a feasible
spot. Through the North Dakota Statewide Windbreak Renovation Initiative, the North Dakota Forest Service (NDFS) will offer technical and financial assistance to private landowners to restore, protect and enhance this deteriorating resource. NDFS and partners will assess windbreak condition
and provide a written plan for renovating the windbreak to restore functionality. Through a grant
from the North Dakota Outdoor Heritage Fund, this initiative will provide cost-share to landowners
to implement their written windbreak renovation plan. When the renovation is complete and inspected, the landowner will be reimbursed for 50% of the actual cost of implementing the plan, subject to project-specific practice and payment limits as described in the cost-share agreement. In order
to be eligible a quick survey must be taken by March 15,2016. For more information Please visit the
NDFS website (www.ndsu.edu/ndfs) or contact the Dunn County SCD for more information.
Pipeline Problems
The North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s pipeline and reclamation oversight pilot program connects landowners and surface tenants experiencing pipeline reclamation issues with
an independent ombudsman. The role of the ombudsman is to help surface owners/tenants and
pipeline companies identify and bring resolution to pipeline reclamation issues.
Pipeline reclamation problems addressed in the early stages have a higher degree of resolution
and can often be resolved before further erosion and loss of productivity by all parties.
If you are not getting an adequate response for pipeline reclamation problems directly from
the pipeline company, contact the North Dakota Department of Agriculture at 1-800-242-7535
or go to our website at www.nd.gov/ndda to request assistance in resolving them.
The Manitoba North Dakota Zero Till Farmers Association is holding its annual conference
January 6-7 in Minot at the Grand Hotel in Minot, ND. The theme this year is “Better Yields
through Better Soil”. For more information visit their website at
http://www.mandakzerotill.org. If any producers are interested in going to the conference
please let the office know @ 764-5646 ext.3. There is some reimbursements available.
The No-Till Drill is currently available for any of your dormant seeding needs. Just
remember you need to fill out a agreement before you pick it up. We can send you one
or you can get one off of our website at www.dunnscd.org.
Tree order forms are Due March 11th.
