The award was accepted by Vice President of New
Business Development, Megan Smith. “One of the
most exciting things we see at Google is that all of
this technology is bringing the talent of the world
together,” said Smith, who encouraged participants
to share their incredible experience with other kids in
their schools so they, too, will join a FIRST team.

mission
vision
“To transform our culture by creating a
world where science and technology
are celebrated and where young
people dream of becoming science and
technology leaders.”
To inspire young people to be science and
technology leaders, by engaging them in
exciting Mentor-based programs that build
science, engineering, and technology skills, that
inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded
life capabilities including self-confidence,
communication, and leadership.
FIRST participants are
significantly more likely to
attend college, twice as
likely to go on to major in
science or engineering, and
three times as likely to major
specifically in engineering.
