Finding the window...
‘When a door closes, somewhere a window opens, you just
have to find it’. On April 25th 2015, many doors in
Nepal came crashing down and, in the rubble, there were no
windows left to search for.
While the earthquake was a hot topic in the media,
help came from all over the world. Yet, just a few months
later, most of the foreign workers were gone. The Nepali
people, however, are still there, and in need of sustainable
solutions more than ever before. At Laundromat, we
provide stable jobs for local artisans. For the last 20 years
we have been working with local people to find and open new
windows together.
We take pride in the way Fair Trade priciples govern
our working relationship with our artisans.
In bringing this collection to your store, you are doing

and raising Fair Trade awareness amongst your customers.

For decades, we have been cultivating close relationships with Nepali
artisans by following Fair Trade practices and principles.
Our Fair Trade Federation membership means we go beyond the
Fair Trade basics. It is a 360° approach that is about true partnership
with artisans and working to create positive change through all of our work.
These relationships go beyond ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions
– they empower producers to strengthen their communities and grow their
