Come “Strike A Cord” with the NWFA in Music City during the 2014 Wood Flooring Expo. This year’s
show is gearing up to be the largest and most successful Expo in decades, with more education hours,
more trade show hours, and unique events that NWFA has never offered before, including a Wood
Flooring University, an off-site mill tour, and a Closing Concert.
Education will be a big focus. Breakout sessions have been expanded to one hour and a new Wood
Flooring University has been added, which will provide three consecutive hours of targeted learning.
CEUs will be offered for designers and architects, and the NWFACP Symposium will offer additional
learning opportunities before the Expo.
A new learning opportunity will include an off-site mill tour for architects, builders, designers, and
contractors at an engineered flooring manufacturing facility. This tour includes two CEU presentations, a
guided tour of the facility, and lunch. The tour is free, but reservations are required, and space is limited.
Entertainment is also a big focus of this year’s Expo. Because Nashville is Music City, live music will be
featured throughout the show and will culminate in a Closing Concert with Country Music Association
Award winner, Pam Tillis, on Friday night, April 18, immediately following the Awards Dinner.
Our keynote speaker will reinforce the music theme as well. As a former RCA recording artist, and the
founder of Dark Horse Recording, Robin Crow will show how differentiating his company from other
recording studios landed him such big names in the industry as Dierks Bentley, Vince Gill, Toby Keith,
Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, and Keith Urban, and how you can apply the same principles
to your own business.
Because we’re back to a convention center and city-wide destination, you have a choice of hotels
for your Expo stay. The new Omni just opened in October, the new Hyatt Place opened in November,
and the Hampton Inn was recently renovated. All are within walking distance to the brand-new,
state-of-the-art, Music City Center, which celebrated its grand opening in May.
Now is the time for you to “Strike A Cord.” Join us for the NWFA’s 2014 Wood Flooring Expo and see
all the products, services and education that can help your business succeed.

Things To Do H H H
in Nashville H H H
1
Hit the Hall — Visit the Country Music Hall of Fame
and Museum. This isn’t just a museum; it’s an experience
with something for everyone. Rhinestone costumes, seasoned instruments, and tear-stained lyric sheets are only
the beginning. Don’t miss the Music City Walk of Fame
across the street in Walk of Fame Park, where music
celebrities who lived, worked and played in Nashville are
commemorated with sidewalk stars. Be sure to stop and
smell the roses in the Nashville Music Garden, home to
over six dozen types of roses.

4
Kick Up Your Boots — The Wildhorse Saloon
serves up country that kicks! Daily linedance lessons are
free for those adventurous enough to scoot onto the
dance floor. Take a break from the dance floor to enjoy
the famous barbecue. Music’s brightest stars often perform here, too.
10
Take a Timeless Journey — The stars of the
Grand Ole Opry perform every Tuesday, Friday and
Saturday night with guest appearances by the biggest
names in music. With 85 years under its belt, it’s the
world’s longest-running radio broadcast and shows no signs of slowing down.
8
Salute — Three U.S. Presidents called Tennessee
home – Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk and Andrew
Johnson. You can revisit the past at The Hermitage,
Home of President Andrew Jackson. Polk is buried on
the grounds of the historic State Capitol building.

Visit Honky Tonk Highway — Tootsie’s

Special Events — If it’s spring, then it’s an
Take In a Songwriters-In-the-Round
Show — In a city of working musicians and songwriters
there’s no better way to hear the music. Typically called
a “writers night,” several singer/songwriters sit on stage
accompanied only by a microphone, a guitar and their
immense talent. These shows can be found in small,
intimate clubs like the famed Bluebird Café all over town.

Visit the Home Of the Greek Gods — In
Nashville’s Centennial Park, you’ll find the world’s only
full-scale reproduction of the ancient Parthenon in
Athens, Greece. The Parthenon houses an art gallery
and museum as well as Athena Parthenos, created by
Nashville artist Alan LeQuire. At almost 42 feet in height,
it’s the tallest indoor sculpture in the Western world.
Visit the Ryman Auditorium — Sure, it’s
called the “Mother Church of Country Music,” but
artists as diverse as Jon Bon Jovi and Tony Bennett
perform on its legendary stage. Since 1892, the world’s greatest stars have headlined the Ryman
Auditorium, from Caruso to Cash. You can take a
backstage tour and record your own song in the
Ryman recording studio.
Ride the Row — Visit historic RCA Studio B by taking a tour of Music Row to the famous recording studio
where Elvis recorded over 200 songs. Roy Orbison, Dolly
Parton, Chet Atkins, Eddy Arnold and many more recorded classic hits here. Not surprisingly, the heartbeat of
Music City is driven by music—from country to classical.

Orchid Lounge, Legends Corner, Second Fiddle, The
Stage, Bluegrass Inn and Robert’s Western World

awesome season for fun in Music City. April kicks off
the festivities with the Tin Pan South songwriters’

the nation’s oldest, continuously run, weight-for-age
steeplechase.
