HORSE AGILITY HOW TO #6 NEW STARTER COURSE AT TROT with 10 obstacles. FROM START TROT TO 1. Narrow gap, About 1m wide by 3m long handler passes through gap with horse at trot stops with front feet just beyond gap. The gap can be made of anything safe tyres, barrels, jump wings etc freestanding as in the picture or against a wall or fence. 2. Back up. Back horse through the same narrow gap as in 1. using any method. FROM BACK UP TROT TO AND THROUGH 3. The May flower arch. Trot through the arch with the horse. Arch is made from pipe, poles or otherwise and decorated with real or pretend flowers and greenery. Let your imagination go wild! TROT TO AND THROUGH 4. Weave through cones or poles at TROT with smooth style and loose rope! The shape of the rope should never change. 1 TROT FROM THE WEAVE OVER THE POLE AND STOP 5. Back over pole Handler trots horse over a single pole on the ground until his front feet are just across the pole then back him over the pole. Using any method to back the horse. TROT TO AND THROUGH 6. Scary Corner The aim is for the horse to pass through a scary corner in a safe manner at trot, he may be alert but not behaving dangerously. TROT TO THEN WALK THROUGH 7. The Bottle Bank. Covered area can be any shape as long as the horse walks through it. See below for how to build. 8. Jump, any design At a low height.! Horse to jump handler may or may not. Higher marks if you pass over or beside the jump at the same time as the horse! 2 TROT TO AND THROUGH 9 Pass through curtain, Curtain is down or up, your choice. The curtain frame is made from plastic push together plumbing pipe, the curtain is butcher’s shop fly curtain but you could use a cut up old shower curtain!! TROT TO THE WATER FEATURE AND WALK OVER 10. Walk over the water feature the handler may walk through water or not but horse must stay on water feature as he crosses. You will need four posts or poles about the same size and a large tarpaulin with no holes. Place one pole on the edge of the tarpaulin and roll it up so that it forms an edge. Do the same with the three remaining poles and three edges pulling up the corners so that the water will not run out. Fill the tarpaulin with just enough water to make a ‘splash’ when the horse walks through. And there you have an inexpensive and easy water feature. The Bottle Bank is made from a few poles arranged in a shape that keeps the bottles together. The bottles are squashed plastic lemonade, pop or water bottles. We used about 25 for this triangle 1.25m (4ft) on each edge. 4 MAY OLHA!
