Exchange Application for the George Washington University
Exchange Application for the George
Washington University
Nominated students will receive an
automated email from the Office for Study
Abroad with their login ID and temporary
password to login to our site (http://www.
studyabroad.gwu.edu).
Once students login, they will arrive at their
home page. On their home page, they will
see a listing of their applications with our
office (#1). They can upload a photo of
themselves for us to see who they are prior
to arrival (#2). And any messages sent to
them through our website
Students can provide our office with a
Carbon Copy email address (#4) and
their Mobile Phone number for text
messaging purposes (#5). Lastly, students
can enter their current or local address
on their applicant home page (Note: this
information is also asked on the application
form itself).
To begin filling out parts of the application,
the student will need to click on the
application name (for example, “Exchange
with Akita International”. The application
will represent the exchange with the
student’s home institution).
The website will take the student to their
application page. The left hand side will
detail what semester they are applying for,
and the dates they will be in attendance at
GWU (#1). If there are any announcements
for the students, an announcements scroller
will appear immediately underneath the basic
program information (#2).
On the right hand side of the page are the
application requirements. The Offline
Requirements are any items that must be
submitted to our office in paper (#3).
Each requirement has it’s own set of
instructions. By clicking on the requirements
title, the student can view the instructions
and download any additional forms that are
required to complete that item. Once the
materials are received by our office, they
will be marked as “received” on the student’s
application page within two business days.
Additionally, students can view any
application instructions for them on the left
side of the page (#4).
Below the Offline Requirements are
E-Signature Documents (#5). Exchange
students can complete E-Signature
Documents after they submit a copy of their
passport biographical information page to
our office.
By clicking on the E-Signature Document,
the student will be able to view the document
and sign it electronically at the bottom of the
page. (Note: The student will be able to view
the E-Signature Document if they have not
submitted their passport biographical page to
our office but they cannot sign the document).
Once the document is signed, the student’s
checklist will refresh automatically to show
that requirement has been completed.
Lastly, students can complete Fillable Forms
on our site (#6). To begin completing the
Fillable Form, the student must click on the
title of the form.
The Fillable Form will open and provide the
student with questions to complete. Once
the student has finished the fillable form,
they can either Save the form to return to it
at a later point or they can Submit the form
to our office. Submitting the form finalizes
the student’s answers and they will not be
able to edit the form. If the student has
realized that he or she made a mistake, they
can contact our office and we will release the
form for them to complete again.
