Grateful Patient Spotlight: Laura Bremer COMMUNITY
Matters COMMUNITY Fall 2013 Community topics, hospital updates and gift planning information for friends of St. Helena Hospital Foundation Grateful Patient Spotlight: Laura Bremer Family Inspired by Center for Health W hen Dr. James Peters first opened his practice in Napa Valley, Laura Bremer, owner of Bremer Family Winer y, was one of the first to request a consultation. Laura felt confident that Dr. Peters’ preventative health program could benefit her entire family. “Dr. Peters’ program fits a cross section of people…there is something for ever yone,” Laura says. Now the Medical Director of St. Helena Hospital’s Center for Health, Dr. Peters meets with Laura’s family regularly to explain how his unique lifestyle program can help with issues such as diabetes, weight control and high cholesterol. After five years of lifestyle counseling, Laura’s mother, Ruth Mallor y, 89, credits Dr. Peters for her good health. “Mom works out four days a week, takes no medication and has no pain,” Laura says. Just as encouraging, Laura’s husband’s diabetes is in check and his medication level is lower now than it has ever been. “Things are a non-issue now,” Laura says. Laura says her family is sincerely grateful for the exper t care they received and encourage others to par ticipate in Dr. Peters’ award-winning TakeTen™ program that helps patients take control of their health in as little as 10 days. “We would rather be well than need to get well,” she says. Ruth Mallory, 89, enjoys Zumba fitness class in St. Helena. Providing for Patients At St. Helena Hospital, 100 percent of all donations are put toward new equipment, programs and technology to provide the best possible care for grateful patients such as Laura Bremer and her family. See the next page for easy steps on making this type of gift. 1 Name us as beneficiary of your retirement account.
