It is celebrated on the 12th day of Christmas, January 6. The Wise Men set out following what they knew: a star. There was one star overlooking Bethlehem that dominated the sky. Yes it was a long trip to find the new born king. The wise men asked questions, they looked for answers, and they were forever changed by what they found. They found the Messiah, the greatest gift that we have been given. And we will forever be changed by God's bright shining Light! This year make every breathing moment a gift worth giving to the King! It’s not easy talking about your feelings, and emotions with people you don’t know so here are some of what you can expect at a Bereavement Support Group Session. Confidentiality – Information shared remains within the group. Only what is thought to be harmful to the participant or someone else is reported. Education – Participants are educated to the process of grief, given resources and discussed, along with activities to cope with their unique loss. Scripture(s) and Prayer – Sessions begin and end with prayer. Scripture references and reading are essential and emphasized. Not Isolated in Grief – Participants quickly learn that they are not alone in their grief. Grief does not need to be suffered in silence and solitude (Hughes, p.20). A Safe Place – Bereavement support groups allow participants to express their pain, accept the loss, adjust to their loss and then in their own unique time reinvest into relationships and activities. They learn patience with themselves and others. As they verbalize they hear and understand themselves and thus better help themselves (p. 20). Prayer: You give insight for living – Your instructions are perfect, reviving the soul. Your decrees are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Your commandments are right, bringing joy to the heart. Your commands are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.
