WELCOME
2014–2015 Season: classic playwrights,
american icons anD Local stories...
The ritual of story telling is as ancient as human history; stories handed
down through tribes, cultures and religions as a way of communicating
and growing from past lessons. Since childhood, I’ve been attracted to
the art of theatre because of its power to bring us all together to share
these stories. I never walk away from a performance without learning
or remembering a lesson that somehow impacts my daily life and propels my personal growth. In that spirit, our new season offers a variety
of great productions that will stimulate through dialogue,
laughter, song, and the occasional tear.
WTT is proud to serve the community of Addison and all it’s North Texas
neighbors with Broadway quality productions. Addison continues
to shine through its progressive initiatives like Addison Circle and Vitruvian Park, the Visit Addison Artisan Center, the many special event and
festival offerings, and of course, WaterTower Theatre, all of which
incubate economic growth and national presence through the bringing
together of people, culture and the arts. This is my 15th season of theatre
within Addison, and I’m proud to be part of a city that promotes communication, knowledge and growth as an integral part of its core mission.
“It All Comes Together” is an appropriate tagline for today’s Addison
and WaterTower is proud to be one of the community hubs where it indeed “comes together.”
We’d love you to become a
member of the WTT family
of season subscribers. As in
ancient times, we can come
together to discover a season of
stories that entertain, challenge
and inspire us!

Bonnie & Clyde
October 10 – November 2, 2014
Book by Ivan Menchell | Lyrics by Don Black | Music by Frank Wildhorn
Fearless, shameless, and alluring, this new musical blends the music of Frank
Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel) with the electrifying love story
of Texas’ two most famed outlaws, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. These two
dreamers found their way into violent circumstances, and their electrifying story
of love, adventure, and crime captured the attention of an entire nation! Stuck in
a dead-end job in depression era Texas, young Bonnie Parker fell for charismatic
Clyde Barrow. As their fame, notoriety, and body count rise, these ill-fated lovers
are racing toward an inevitable end. Recommended for mature audiences.
The Explorers Club
January 16 – February 8, 2015
By Nell Benjamin
It’s London, 1879, and the Explorers Club is in crisis: their acting president wants to
admit a woman, and their bartender is terrible. True, this female candidate is brilliant, beautiful, and has discovered a legendary Lost City, but the decision to let in a
woman could shake the very foundation of the British Empire, and how do you make
such a decision without a decent drink? When the angry English Guard surrounds
the club, what’s a gentleman explorer to do? Sit back, relax, and enjoy a brandy
and cigar, naturally. Grab your safety goggles for some mad science involving deadly
cobras, irate Irishmen and the occasional airship. Nell Benjamin’s madcap comedy
will have you bending over with laughter!
All My Sons
April 17 – May 10, 2015
By Arthur Miller
Commemorating the 100th anniversary of playwright Arthur Miller’s
birth, WTT presents All My Sons. Set in post-World War II America, this
landmark drama examines relationships between fathers and sons
and the price of living the “American Dream”. From the backyard of a
suburban neighborhood, explosive secrets threaten to tear the family
apart in this deeply engaging tale of morality and human conscience
while exploring the bonds of family and social responsibility. All My
Sons, inspired by a true story, won two Tony Awards and the New York
Drama Critics Circle Award for the Best Play of 1947.
Manicures & Monuments
June 5 – 28, 2015
By Vicki Caroline Cheatwood
A new play by local playwright Vicki Caroline Cheatwood, Manicures & Monuments
is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of the residents of an Oklahoma nursing home
and the young manicurist-in-training, Janann, who comes to volunteer. Janann soon
clashes with one of the elderly residents, former Army nurse Bailey. Tempers flare
as the two women collide in their struggle to understand each other, but eventually
they discover the true meaning of what it means to care for someone.
sweet charity
July 24 – August 16, 2015
Book by Neil Simon | Music by Cy Coleman | Lyrics by Dorothy Fields
Based on an original screenplay by Federico Fellini, Tullio Pinelli and Ennio Plaiano
Produced for the Broadway Stage by Fryer, Carr and Harris
Conceived, Staged and Choreographed by Bob Fosse
Despite her job as a “dancer” at the seedy Fan-Dango Ballroom, Charity Hope
Valentine is an eternal optimist, but she may just be the unluckiest romantic in
New York City! The musical classic Sweet Charity is a warm, touching, and humorous look at Charity’s trials and tribulations as she repeatedly gives her heart, and
her savings, to the wrong man. Adapted from Nights of Cabiria, a film by Federico
Fellini, Sweet Charity includes hits such as “Hey, Big Spender,” “Rhythm of Life,”
and “If My Friends Could See Me Now.”

season! Everyone’s filled with warmth and beer, but when a freak bout of amnesia strikes Darlene, the trailer park Scrooge, neighborly love is put to the test.
Join that fabulous trio, Betty, Lin, and Pickles, as they jingle all the way with
some new neighbors in this all-new, all-trailer-park holiday extravaganza.
