We will begin our journey at the Omni Mount Washington Resort. This luxurious, historic resort is one of the few remaining “Grand Hotels” of New Hampshire and has been declared a National Historic Landmark. Enjoy a guided tour of the resort and then join us in the Mount Washington Hotel’s Circular Dining Room for a delicious full lunch. We will stop at Sherman Farms to browse their farm fresh apples, fruits & vegetables, baked goods & homemade ice cream. We’ll take a leisurely drive on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, which passes through the heart of the White Mountains and follows the Kancamagus River the byway is often referred to as having the best fall foliage in country. Don’t forget your camera; we will be making photo stops along the way! $ 125 Vermont Foliage, Wednesday, October 7 - We’ll stop at “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon” Quechee Gorge and enjoy time in Woodstock for lunch & shopping before heading to the Marsh- BillingsRockefeller Mansion where the park rangers will give us a tour of this lovely home. This historic mansion sits high on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Vermont countryside. End the day with a visit to Woodstock’s famous Farmer’s Market. You’ll want to bring along your cooler for this stop! This indoor, year round farmer’s market is the area’s farm to table grocer with everything from fresh, local produce, specialty groceries, local dairy products, a bakery and deli and of course fresh Vermont cheeses! NOTE: The house sits on a hilltop, and you will need to walk up the driveway to get to the house. $ 79 New England Fall Foliage, Festivals & Fun, Thursday, October 8 – Sunday, October 11 – Head down the country back-roads to enjoy some oldtime fall festivals, fairs & fun! We’ll travel through the heart of the White Mountains on the scenic Kancamagus Byway, making photo stops at the some of the scenic overlooks and at the covered bridge. Then, enjoy free time for lunch & shopping at quaint North Conway Village’s many unique restaurants and shops, like Zeb’s General Store, where you’ll find everything from cheese to New Hampshire-made gifts and gourmet foods. We’ll travel to Jackson, NH, to witness the Return of the Pumpkin People, where local people and businesses create pumpkin characters and scenes to compete for the best display. We’ll stop at the Jackson Covered Bridge and the cascading Jackson Falls as we travel through the quaint village in search of Pumpkin People. Step back in time at our hotel, the Eagle Mountain House, a Historic Hotel of America built in 1879. Relax and enjoy the foliage from one of the rocking chairs on their 280-foot verandah, and from the rooms that have been lovingly restored to their former glory with four-poster beds, custom-made cotton linens, embroidered duvet covers, and period furnishings. Travel to Sunday River’s Grand Summit Resort Hotel, located in western Maine’s Mahoosuc Mountains, where we will stay for two nights. Our Resort is the host for the annual Sunday River Fall Festival, and you’ll have the day to enjoy all the activities at the property. There will be live entertainment featuring local bluegrass bands; the 29th Annual Blue Mountain Arts & Crafts Festival, with over 45 regional artists and artisans; “Taste of Maine” food vendors offering Maine foods – from lobster rolls to blueberry cobblers; horse-drawn wagon rides; chainsaw & woodcarving demonstrations; and the Annual North American Wife Carrying Championships, in which competitors carry their wives over a 280-yard obstacle course with two log obstacles and a water hole. We’ll enjoy a Chondola ride (an enclosed 8-person gondola) to the top of the mountain for some spectacular views of the Mahoosuc Mountains and the Sunday River Valley below. At dusk, join our local guide on our bus for a “moose safari” through some of the most picturesque areas in Grafton Notch State Park and long the banks of the Androscoggin River, watching for moose as we learn about moose and their habits. We’ll go to the famous Fryeburg Fair that has been held on the same grounds since 1885, and stop at Ricker’s Hard Cider Mill for tour of the apple packing facility, the cider press, the fermentation tanks, the canning line and enjoy a Maniac Hard Cider tasting (regular cider is also available). At Ricker Hill Orchard, we’ll shop for apples and browse the bake shop. We’ll stop at Freeport for lunch & shopping before returning to the Cape. Nestled in the Green Mountains, this gorgeous bed& breakfast operates in a beautifully restored Victorian Mansion and is known for their fine dining using fresh, local ingredients. End the day with a visit to the Apple Barn & Country Bake Shop, for a tour of their scenic orchard and a sample of old fashioned apple pie with homemade ice cream and beverage. Featured on the Food Network, Good Morning America, and more, you will enjoy this narrated ride to the top of their 300 plus acre orchard to view the most spectacular scenery in Southern Vermont. $ 99 Hobo Train, Sunday, October 11 - This trip is a perennial favorite – relax aboard a twohour scenic train ride along the shores of pristine Lake Winnipesauke to view the beautiful fall colors reflecting on the lake. On board the train, a delicious full turkey lunch with all the trimmings will be served, catered by the folks at Hart’s Turkey Farm. Then, step back in time and shop for treasures at the Old Country Store & Museum. For over 200 years they have sold the finest in aged cheese, maple products, candies, gifts and more. On the way home, stop by Stonybrook Farm for farm fresh apples, apple cider, cider donuts and more. $ 102 The Many Colors of Vermont, Monday, October 12 – Wednesday, October 14 – We’ll begin our Vermont getaway in beautiful Bennington, Vermont with time for lunch & shopping, and then our local guide will take us to Bennington Potters, for a tour the factory. We’ll visit the Norman Rockwell Exhibition, which focuses on Norman Rockwell's years in Arlington, VT, during which time he created many of his most famous works. He used many local townspeople as models for his work, and you’ll meet one of his models who will tell stories of what it was like being painted by Norman Rockwell. You’ll LOVE our hotel, the Mountaintop Inn, which boasts amazing views and a true Vermont ambiance. The lakeside property is set on 350 acres with sweeping views of the Green Mountain National Forest. Our local guide will take us to Rock of Ages to learn about their role in the fabrication of the World War II Memorial in Washington DC. We’ll learn what working on this important project meant to the employees and listen to Walt Celley, who was chosen to create the majestic eagles for the memorial. Everyone will receive a commemorative stone that is a remnant from the fabrication of the memorial in a presentation box. We’ll take a quarry tour, and a self-guided factory tour. You’ll have time for lunch at Burlington’s Church Street Marketplace and then take a scenic narrated cruise on Lake Champlain on board the Spirit of Ethan Allen for magnificent views of both the Adirondacks and Vermont’s Green Mountains. At Lincoln Peak Winery, we’ll take a tour and have a wine tasting. Then, enjoy a delicious dinner and cooking demonstration at Café Provence by renowned French Chef/Owner, Chef Robert. He will demonstrate one of the items on our dinner menu, and everyone will receive a recipe card to take home. Tour the Green Mountain Sugarhouse, a family owned and operated maple production business to see the sugarhouse and learn about this challenging industry. Then travel along the Mohawk Trail, considered the most beautiful drive in Massachusetts; it is also home to some of the best foliage in the state! Take a walk through the Bridge of Flowers, a botanical garden planted along the sides of an old trolley bridge and see the geologic potholes of the Deerfield River in scenic Shelburne Falls. We will visit Red Apple Farm where we’ll take a hayride into the orchard while we hear about the innovated eco-friendly advances on the farm. Enjoy a sample of their fresh apple cider, pick ¼ peck of apples and visit with their farm animals. End the day with a delicious included dinner at the Old Mill Restaurant, a restored 1761 saw mill that has been operating as a restaurant for over 200 years (choice of stuffed chicken breast or Yankee pot roast for entrée). $ 95 Connecticut’s Cultural Coastline & Florence Griswold Museum, Friday, October 16 – Begin the day at the gorgeous Goodspeed Opera House overlooking the Connecticut River. On our guided tour, we will explore backstage and the actors' dressing rooms while learning about the vibrant history of the Opera House. Enjoy a delicious full lunch at the Old Lyme Inn, a beautiful 13 room country inn before visiting the Florence Griswold House & Museum. During the early 20th century, the Lyme Art Colony in Miss Griswold’s boarding house became America’s most famous summer art colony, playing a pivotal role in fostering American Impressionism. Today, the museum tells a story of art & history and is noted for its collection of American Impressionist paintings. We will enjoy The Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour - an hour long guided walking tour with engaging local guides who creatively convey Salem's authentic haunted history. Delve into Salem's macabre past as our knowledgeable and charismatic guide regales you with tales of documented paranormal activity, chilling cemeteries and tales of century’s old murder. We will also visit the Salem Witch Museum, where you will be brought back to Salem 1692. Fans of the PBS Drama “Downton Abbey” will love this look into a real Gilded Age mansion as we enjoy The Elms Servant’s Life tour! The tour will highlight the stories of some of the men and women who worked in the home including the butler, Ernest Birch and his wife, cook Grace Rhodes. You'll climb the 82 stairs of the back staircase from the basement servant entrance up to the third floor staff quarters, where you'll see exhibits and photographs about the individual men and women who lived and worked here. You do not need to sign up or give any information to Pinterest in order to view the pictures, so check it out! Signing up for a trip is easy – simply call us with your name, phone number, number of seats needed, and pick-up location. The person that made the reservation will receive an invoice 6-7 weeks prior to the trip with departure times and any balance due listed. If you are mailing in a payment, please keep the lower portion for your records, as your pickup time & location are printed on the invoice. For an overnight trip, you will receive a mailing with your itinerary and luggage tags approximately 30 days prior to your trip. Space will be held on a tentative basis for you when reserving a trip; however we reserve the right to cancel your reservation if payment is not received in a timely manner. Senior Center Signups - If you sign up through a Senior Center, please send your payment to the Senior Center, and they will forward it to me. You will not receive an invoice from me for the trip - your Senior Center will contact you for payment and inform you of departure times. For overnight trips, you will receive your itinerary and bag tags about 30 days prior to the trip. Credit card payments cannot be accepted for Senior Center signups Pickup locations: Our Hyannis pickup is at the commuter lot behind Burger King at exit 6 off of Route 6. This is NOT the Burger King parking lot, as they will tow any vehicles left there for an extended time. Park in the commuter lot and wait at the enclosures for the bus – please be sure that you are parked in a legal parking spot – if you are on the grass or outside of the marked parking spots, you will be issued a parking citation. The police patrol this lot, and will ticket/tow any car that is parked illegally. As always, parking is at your own risk at any of our pickup locations. 1. Patriots Square, Route 134, Dennis 2. Barnstable Commuter lot, Route 132, Hyannis – if you find that there are no remaining legal parking places, please proceed to either Sagamore or Dennis (if you have time) to meet the bus – do NOT go to the Hyannis Transportation Center 3. Sagamore Commuter lot, at the foot of the Sagamore Bridge Your requested pickup location will be printed on your sales receipt or invoice. Please arrive at your pickup location at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time, and call the office if you decide to change to a different pickup location. The office is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. If you get our voicemail when you call, please leave a message and I will return your call – most times I am in the office but simply on the other line helping another customer. In the interest of fairness to those boarding in Hyannis & Sagamore as well as our handicapped passengers, we assign seats on the bus, as they do on the airlines, on a firstcome, first- serve basis. If you are traveling with friends and signing up separately, be sure to let us know who you are traveling with so that we can seat you next to each other. Single travelers will be given their own seats if space allows or may be seated with another single traveler. Please sit in your assigned seat until after we have picked up in Sagamore, then you can change seats if there is an empty seat is available.
