Autumn in the White Mountains, Monday, October 5 - Each fall, the White Mountain
Region of New Hampshire enjoys some of the most
spectacular fall foliage in the world. We will begin our
journey at the Omni Mount Washington Resort. This
luxurious, historic resort is one of the few remaining
“Grand Hotels” of New Hampshire and has been
declared a National Historic Landmark. Enjoy a
guided tour of the resort and then join us in the Mount
Washington Hotel’s Circular Dining Room for a delicious full lunch. We will stop at
Sherman Farms to browse their farm fresh apples, fruits & vegetables, baked goods &
homemade ice cream. We’ll take a leisurely drive on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway,
which passes through the heart of the White Mountains and follows the Kancamagus River the byway is often referred to as having the best fall foliage in country. Don’t forget your
camera; we will be making photo stops along the way! $ 125
Vermont Foliage, Wednesday, October 7 - We’ll stop at “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon”
Quechee Gorge and enjoy time in Woodstock for lunch
& shopping before heading to the Marsh- BillingsRockefeller Mansion where the park rangers will give
us a tour of this lovely home. This historic mansion sits
high on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Vermont
countryside. End the day with a visit to Woodstock’s
famous Farmer’s Market. You’ll want to bring along
your cooler for this stop! This indoor, year round
farmer’s market is the area’s farm to table grocer with everything from fresh, local produce,
specialty groceries, local dairy products, a bakery and deli and of course fresh Vermont
cheeses! NOTE: The house sits on a hilltop, and you will need to walk up the driveway to
get to the house.

New England Fall Foliage, Festivals & Fun, Thursday, October 8 – Sunday, October 11 –
Head down the country back-roads to enjoy some oldtime fall festivals, fairs & fun! We’ll travel through the
heart of the White Mountains on the scenic
Kancamagus Byway, making photo stops at the some
of the scenic overlooks and at the covered bridge. Then,
enjoy free time for lunch & shopping at quaint North
Conway Village’s many unique restaurants and shops,
like Zeb’s General Store, where you’ll find everything
from cheese to New Hampshire-made gifts and gourmet
foods. We’ll travel to Jackson, NH, to witness the Return of the Pumpkin People, where
local people and businesses create pumpkin characters and scenes to compete for the best
display. We’ll stop at the Jackson Covered Bridge and the cascading Jackson Falls as we
travel through the quaint village in search of Pumpkin People. Step back in time at our
hotel, the Eagle Mountain House, a Historic Hotel of America built in 1879. Relax and
enjoy the foliage from one of the rocking chairs on their 280-foot verandah, and from the
rooms that have been lovingly restored to their former glory with
four-poster beds, custom-made cotton linens, embroidered duvet
covers, and period furnishings. Travel to Sunday River’s Grand
Summit Resort Hotel, located in western Maine’s Mahoosuc
Mountains, where we will stay for two nights. Our Resort is the host
for the annual Sunday River Fall Festival, and you’ll have the day
to enjoy all the activities at the property. There will be live
entertainment featuring local bluegrass bands; the 29th Annual
Blue Mountain Arts & Crafts Festival, with over 45 regional
artists and artisans; “Taste of Maine” food vendors offering Maine
foods – from lobster rolls to blueberry cobblers; horse-drawn wagon
rides; chainsaw & woodcarving demonstrations; and the Annual
North American Wife Carrying Championships, in which competitors carry their wives
over a 280-yard obstacle course with two log obstacles and a water hole. We’ll enjoy a
Chondola ride (an enclosed 8-person gondola) to the top of the mountain for some
spectacular views of the Mahoosuc Mountains and the Sunday River Valley below. At dusk,
join our local guide on our bus for a “moose safari” through some of the most picturesque
areas in Grafton Notch State Park and long the banks of the
Androscoggin River, watching for moose as we learn about
moose and their habits. We’ll go to the famous Fryeburg Fair
that has been held on the same grounds since 1885, and stop at
Ricker’s Hard Cider Mill for tour of the apple packing
facility, the cider press, the fermentation tanks, the canning line
and enjoy a Maniac Hard Cider tasting (regular cider is also
available). At Ricker Hill Orchard, we’ll shop for apples and
browse the bake shop. We’ll stop at Freeport for lunch & shopping before returning to the
Cape.

Taste of Vermont, Saturday, October 10 - Visit Grafton Cheese’s specialty wine & cheese
shop in the picturesque town of Brattleboro, VT to watch
their master cheese makers, enjoy samples of their award
winning cheeses and shop for goodies to take home.
Enjoy a delicious full lunch at The White House Inn.
Nestled in the Green Mountains, this gorgeous bed&
breakfast operates in a beautifully restored Victorian
Mansion and is known for their fine dining using fresh,
local ingredients. End the day with a visit to the Apple
Barn & Country Bake Shop, for a tour of their scenic
orchard and a sample of old fashioned apple pie with homemade ice cream and beverage.
Featured on the Food Network, Good Morning America, and more, you will enjoy this
narrated ride to the top of their 300 plus acre orchard to view the most spectacular
scenery in Southern Vermont.

Hobo Train, Sunday, October 11 - This trip is a perennial favorite – relax aboard a twohour scenic train ride along the shores of pristine Lake Winnipesauke to
view the beautiful fall colors reflecting on the lake. On board the train, a
delicious full turkey lunch with all the trimmings will be served, catered by
the folks at Hart’s Turkey Farm. Then, step back in time and shop for
treasures at the Old Country Store & Museum. For over 200 years they
have sold the finest in aged cheese, maple products, candies, gifts and
more. On the way home, stop by Stonybrook Farm for farm fresh apples,
apple cider, cider donuts and more. $ 102
The Many Colors of Vermont, Monday, October 12 – Wednesday, October 14 – We’ll
begin our Vermont getaway in beautiful Bennington, Vermont
with time for lunch & shopping, and then our local guide will
take us to Bennington Potters, for a tour the factory. We’ll visit
the Norman Rockwell Exhibition, which focuses on Norman
Rockwell's years in Arlington, VT, during which time he created
many of his most famous works. He used many local
townspeople as models for his work, and you’ll meet one of his
models who will tell stories of what it was like being painted by
Norman Rockwell. You’ll LOVE our hotel, the Mountaintop
Inn, which boasts amazing views and a true Vermont ambiance.
The lakeside property is set on 350 acres with sweeping views of the Green Mountain
National Forest. Our local guide will take us to Rock of Ages to learn about their role in the
fabrication of the World War II Memorial in Washington DC. We’ll learn what working on
this important project meant to the employees and listen to Walt Celley, who was chosen to
create the majestic eagles for the memorial. Everyone will receive a commemorative stone
that is a remnant from the fabrication of the memorial in a presentation box. We’ll take a
quarry tour, and a self-guided factory tour. You’ll have time for lunch at Burlington’s
Church Street Marketplace and then take a scenic narrated cruise on Lake Champlain
on board the Spirit of Ethan Allen for magnificent views of both the Adirondacks and
Vermont’s Green Mountains. At Lincoln Peak Winery, we’ll take a tour and have a wine
tasting. Then, enjoy a delicious dinner and cooking demonstration at Café Provence by
renowned French Chef/Owner, Chef Robert. He will demonstrate one of the items on our
dinner menu, and everyone will receive a recipe card to take home. Tour the Green
Mountain Sugarhouse, a family owned and operated maple production business to see the
sugarhouse and learn about this challenging industry. Lunch is on your own in the
quintessential New England Village of Woodstock, and then we’ll stop at Quechee
Gorge for pictures of Vermont’s little Grand Canyon, and at the Vermont Country Store

Massachusetts Backroads – the Mohawk Trail, Thursday, October 15 - Visit Yankee
Candle’s Flagship Store in Deerfield, where you’ll have time to
browse their enormous selection of scented candles & gifts, stroll
the Bavarian Christmas Village, Nutcracker Castle, and venture
into the Black Forest to watch the snow fall! Then travel along the
Mohawk Trail, considered the most beautiful drive in
Massachusetts; it is also home to some of the best foliage in the
state! Take a walk through the Bridge of Flowers, a botanical garden planted along the
sides of an old trolley bridge and see the geologic potholes of the Deerfield River in scenic
Shelburne Falls. We will visit Red Apple Farm where we’ll take a hayride into the orchard
while we hear about the innovated eco-friendly advances on the farm. Enjoy a sample of
their fresh apple cider, pick ¼ peck of apples and visit with their farm animals. End the
day with a delicious included dinner at the Old Mill Restaurant, a restored 1761 saw mill
that has been operating as a restaurant for over 200 years (choice of stuffed chicken breast
or Yankee pot roast for entrée).

Connecticut’s Cultural Coastline & Florence Griswold Museum, Friday, October 16 –
Begin the day at the gorgeous Goodspeed Opera House
overlooking the Connecticut River. On our guided tour, we
will explore backstage and the actors' dressing rooms while
learning about the vibrant history of the Opera House. Enjoy
a delicious full lunch at the Old Lyme Inn, a beautiful 13
room country inn before visiting the Florence Griswold
House & Museum. During the early 20th century, the Lyme
Art Colony in Miss Griswold’s boarding house became America’s most famous summer art
colony, playing a pivotal role in fostering American Impressionism. Today, the museum
tells a story of art & history and is noted for its collection of American Impressionist
paintings. Enjoy a one hour docent guided tour of the current exhibitions & collections
and of the Griswold House and free time to explore the museum and the very popular Wee
Faerie Village. The Wee Faerie Trail leads from one Whimsical Kingdom to the next

Salem Haunted Happenings, Thursday, October 22 - The infamous Witch Trials of 1692
gave birth to a heritage that Salem cannot deny. Every October, they
embrace their past with a month long celebration of all things spooky. We
will enjoy The Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour - an hour long guided
walking tour with engaging local guides who creatively convey Salem's
authentic haunted history. Delve into Salem's macabre past as our
knowledgeable and charismatic guide regales you with tales of documented
paranormal activity, chilling cemeteries and tales of century’s old murder. We will also visit
the Salem Witch Museum, where you will be brought back to Salem 1692. Lunch is
included at the historic Hawthorne Hotel and have time to browse the shops.

Harvard Tour with NEW Harvard Art Museums, Saturday, October 24 - Take the
award- winning “unauthorized” 70-minute walking tour
led by seasoned tour guides who highlight “Hahvahd” hotspots through a satisfying blend of in-depth knowledge, sidesplitting jokes, historical accounts, and exclusive tales of
student life at Harvard. The Tour Guides are talented Harvard
students who engage their audiences through a theatrical
staging and creative presentation for a real behind the scenes
story of Harvard! Break for lunch (on your own) in trendy Harvard Square, home to over
90 small and unusual eateries. In the afternoon, visit the Harvard Art Museums, three
distinct museums under one roof. Recently reopened after six long years, the new
museum spaces have been completely remodeled and vastly expanded to showcase the
breathtaking and varied collection ranging from ancient artifacts from the Middle East to
contemporary works by Yoko Ono and Christo - there are new discoveries around every
corner and our docent will be there to point them out.

Newport Playhouse “Remember Me?” Wednesday, October 28 – You’ll enjoy the
delicious all-you-can-eat buffet lunch at the Newport Playhouse, and
then we’ll walk into their intimate theatre for the comedy show,
“Remember Me?” On the surface it seems that Mary and Brian Hanson,
a couple in their late forties, have what appears to be a very comfortable
marriage. They live in a gorgeous apartment, their children are grown and
gone and they pride themselves on being best friends. But though content,
the marriage has grown tired. And then one morning while Brian is playing tennis, their
lives are turned upside down when Mary’s old college boyfriend, Peter, shows up... or does
he? But the fun isn’t over after the show – we’ll head back to the dining room for a
hilarious cabaret show!

Newport Servant's Life, Tuesday, November 10 - Glittering dinner parties, spotless sitting
rooms, elegant gowns for morning, noon and evening…the
wealthy aristocrats of the Gilded Age certainly lived the
good life. But what about the people BEHIND that good
life? The cook, butler, house maids, footmen, lady’s maids
and more that allowed the good life to run like clockwork.
Fans of the PBS Drama “Downton Abbey” will love this
look into a real Gilded Age mansion as we enjoy The Elms Servant’s Life tour! The tour
will highlight the stories of some of the men and women who worked in the home including
the butler, Ernest Birch and his wife, cook Grace Rhodes. You'll climb the 82 stairs of the
back staircase from the basement servant entrance up to the third floor staff quarters, where
you'll see exhibits and photographs about the individual
men and women who lived and worked here. Weather
permitting, your tour will take you out onto the roof, for a
spectacular view of the ten-acre estate and Newport
Harbor beyond. Then, head back down the stairs to the
basement kitchens, coal cellar, boiler room and laundry
rooms. Our knowledgeable guide will give us all the
“inside dirt” on the family. The Preservation Society has
spent the past decade researching the servants, interviewing their descendants, and gathering
photographs and family stories. To stand in contrast with our servant’s tour of The Elms,
we will also enjoy a self-guided audio tour of the Elms Mansion. Then, relax and enjoy
Afternoon Tea at Hotel Viking’s upscale One Bellevue Restaurant. As our host educates
us on proper tea etiquette, you will enjoy a selection of tea sandwiches, tea breads, scones,
truffles and of course a wide selection of teas. End our adventure relaxing on board our
motorcoach as you are treated to a guided tour of Newport. Please note, this tour is a true
upstairs/downstairs tour. You will climb several flights of stairs as we experience the back
servant’s passages at The Elms.

Boston's Art & Architecture, Thursday, November 12 –Explore the cultural side of Bean
Town, beginning with a fascinating hour long bus tour of
Boston. On the tour we will explore the diverse architectural
styles that are featured on some of the most famous Boston

DAY 4 – Travel to Alexandria for a tour of George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and
then check into our Washington DC hotel, the magnificent Gaylord National Hotel. This
four-diamond Hotel sits on the banks of the Potomac River, and boasts an 18-story 1 ½
acre glass-covered atrium with fountains, five restaurants and a two-story roof-top

DAY 5 - We’ll also make a photo stop at the National Christmas Tree and stop at the US
Botanic Gardens, where you’ll see the buildings of the National
Mall crafted out of plant-based natural materials, fanciful gardentrain exhibits, and one of Washington's largest indoor holiday
trees towering over pools of colorful poinsettias. Enjoy a guided
tour of the US Capitol Building, where we will see the Capitol
Visitor Center’s film, "Out of Many, One," and see the magnificent
building that houses our Congress including the Crypt, the
Rotunda, and National Statuary Hall. We’ll take a tour of a beautifully-preserved
historic district of Old Town Alexandria, in the heart of the city that George Washington
called home. We’ll stroll down the cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks to the Torpedo
Center Art Factory shops and boutiques before enjoying dinner at historic Gadsby’s
Tavern. In the 18th century, the Tavern was the center of political, business, and social life.
George Washington enjoyed the hospitality provided by tavern-keepers as did John Adams,
Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, and the Marquis de Lafayette. We’ll
tour Gadsby’s Tavern Museum and hotel to learn about the history, social customs, food,
and clothing of a past era. Before returning to our hotel, we’ll take an illumination tour of
DC.

Newport Vanderbilt Christmas, Monday, December 14 - See two of the magnificent
Newport mansions decorated for the holidays, both built by
the Vanderbilt family, Marblehouse and The Breakers.
Marblehouse was built as an anniversary gift by William K.
Vanderbilt for his wife, and it was the first of the “grand
cottages” in Newport, a beautiful mansion clad in shimmering
white marble. But, Marblehouse was soon eclipsed by “The
Breakers,” summer home of Williams’ older brother,
Cornelius II. The Breakers has never been surpassed, and is a magnificent property of the
grandest scale! You’ll tour both of these magnificent mansions decorated for the

A Grand Resort Christmas, Tuesday, December 15 – Thursday, December 17 - Pamper
yourself at three of New Hampshire’s historic Grand Resorts, all beautifully decorated

Day 1 - The gorgeous four-star Wentworth by the Sea has
welcomed social, business and political leaders from around
the world since 1874. The resort was meticulously restored
in 2003, and once again gleams with the glamour and grace
that have drawn guests to the ocean-front resort in
Portsmouth, NH for over a century. We’ll enjoy a delicious
lunch at the resort, and then take a tour of the resort to see

property. Then, travel to the Mount Washington Hotel & Resort in Bretton Woods, where

Day 7 – Stop in Milan, the commercial capital of Italy.
Visit the Museum of La Scala Opera House, then enjoy a
walk to the glass-domed Galleria and the gothic Duomo.
We’ll continue to romantic Venice and enter in syle - by
private boat. Take an optional gondola ride. (B)
Day 8 – Highlights of our guided walking tour include St
Mark’s Square and the byzantine Basilica, lavish Doges’
Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. Watch a skilled glassblower fashion delicate objects in an
age-old traditional manner. An optional excursion to colorful Burano Island is offered.
Day 9 – In Padua, visit St Anthony’s Basilica, then walk to the Piazza delle Erbe and
enjoy a cappuccino at the popular Pedrocchi Café. Arrive in peaceful Assisi, where our
local guide takes us for a visit to St Clare’s Church and St Francis’ Basilica. (B,D)
Day 10 – Leave the province of Umbria for the charming, bayside resort of Sorrento.
Time for shopping and an optional excursion to the Amalfi Coast & Positano. (B)
Day 11 – Cross the bay by Jetfoil to the Isle of Capri to ride the Funicular to Capri
Village for a guided visit to this pretty town. Free time to explore the shops on the
piazzetta before returning to Sorrento. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 12 - Stop for a guided visit of Pompeii, the Roman city
both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount
Vesuvius in 79 AD. This evening, we’re back in the “Eternal
City” to enjoy a special farewell dinner with wine and opera
entertainment at La Carovana restaurant – the perfect way to
end our visit to Rome. (B,D)
Day 13 – Depart for the Cape.

You’ll also find video clips for some of our theater trips, and a link to our trip research
page on Pinterest, where we have posted pictures of the places that we will visit on our
trips and links to the attraction & hotel websites. You do not need to sign up or give any
information to Pinterest in order to view the pictures, so check it out!
Signing up for a trip is easy – simply call us with your name, phone number, number of
seats needed, and pick-up location. The person that made the reservation will receive an
invoice 6-7 weeks prior to the trip with departure times and any balance due listed. If you
are mailing in a payment, please keep the lower portion for your records, as your pickup
time & location are printed on the invoice. For an overnight trip, you will receive a
mailing with your itinerary and luggage tags approximately 30 days prior to your trip.

Space will be held on a tentative basis for you when reserving a trip; however we reserve
the right to cancel your reservation if payment is not received in a timely manner.
Senior Center Signups - If you sign up through a Senior Center, please send your payment
to the Senior Center, and they will forward it to me. You will not receive an invoice from
me for the trip - your Senior Center will contact you for payment and inform you of
departure times. For overnight trips, you will receive your itinerary and bag tags about 30
days prior to the trip. Credit card payments cannot be accepted for Senior Center signups
Pickup locations:
Our Hyannis pickup is at the commuter lot behind Burger King at exit 6 off of Route 6.
This is NOT the Burger King parking lot, as they will tow any vehicles left there for an
extended time. Park in the commuter lot and wait at the enclosures for the bus – please be
sure that you are parked in a legal parking spot – if you are on the grass or outside of the
marked parking spots, you will be issued a parking citation. The police patrol this lot, and
will ticket/tow any car that is parked illegally. As always, parking is at your own risk at any
of our pickup locations.

2. Barnstable Commuter lot, Route 132, Hyannis – if you find that there are no remaining
legal parking places, please proceed to either Sagamore or Dennis (if you have time) to
meet the bus – do NOT go to the Hyannis Transportation Center
3. Sagamore Commuter lot, at the foot of the Sagamore Bridge
Your requested pickup location will be printed on your sales receipt or invoice. Please
arrive at your pickup location at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time, and call
the office if you decide to change to a different pickup location. The office is open
Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. If you get our voicemail when
you call, please leave a message and I will return your call – most times I am in the office
but simply on the other line helping another customer.
In the interest of fairness to those boarding in Hyannis & Sagamore as well as our
handicapped passengers, we assign seats on the bus, as they do on the airlines, on a firstcome, first- serve basis. If you are traveling with friends and signing up separately, be sure
to let us know who you are traveling with so that we can seat you next to each other. Single
travelers will be given their own seats if space allows or may be seated with another single
traveler. Please sit in your assigned seat until after we have picked up in Sagamore, then
you can change seats if there is an empty seat is available.
Deposits & Cancellations:
Since I am obligated to make financial commitments to my suppliers prior to a tour's departure based on
your anticipated participation, I have instituted the following reservation & cancellation policies:
Day-trips:
Full payment is due 45 days prior to the trip
Refundable up to 14 days prior to the trip
Day-trips with ticketed events (theatre, show, or ballgame):
Shows priced under $ 100 require full payment to reserve
Shows over $ 100 require $50 per person to reserve
Balance is due 45 days prior to the trip
Non-refundable unless your ticket is resold
Overnight motorcoach trips:
$ 50 per person deposit to reserve space
Balance is due 45 days prior to departure.
Refundable up to 30 days prior to departure.
Overnight motorcoach trips with ticketed events (theatre, show or ballgame):
$ 50 per person non-refundable deposit to reserve
Balance is due 45 days prior to trip
Deposit will be refunded if your ticket is resold
Balance is refundable up to 30 days prior to departure
Longer overnight trips, cruises and trips including airfare – check individual fliers for deposit and

TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE is available for all trips - for overnight trips, you’ll receive
pricing with your invoice, for daytrips, please call for pricing.
We have included a walking guide in the brochure, which you’ll find at the end of each tour description
– it will let you know how strenuous each tour is:
A trip with minimal walking
A trip that includes moderate walking at your own pace
A trip that includes extended periods of walking or guided walking tours.
On some tours, you may be able to omit portions of the tour that will be too physical for you - as always, if you
have any questions about the tour, don’t hesitate to call.
Trips with this icon are 8 hours or less from the bridge (9 hours or less from Dennis)
Customary end-of-tour gratuities are included for the driver, escort and local tour guide (when a step-on
guide is hired), wait staff, and baggage handlers.
Gratuities for hotel housekeeping staff are not included unless otherwise noted on your itinerary, and a basic
gratuity of $ 2-3 per person, per day is customary
