From Bill Williams-Board President
Welcome residents, friends and visitors. Our summer schedule makes this a two month edition. Linda, our
Community Manager and her staff are busy implementing numerous maintenance projects.
Our new community Bocce Courts officially re-opened for play on Wednesday June 17th. Denis Scobbo, Bocce
Club President assisted as Project Manager for the restoration. A ribbon cutting ceremony and reception was held
which included an invitation to the entire community. It was and continues to be a pleasure working with Denis in
this endeavor and in other volunteer committees. This is what continues to make the Cascades so “special”. People
working together with positive constructive attitudes are making things happen. I hope everyone enjoys their new
Bocce Courts for many years to come. New improved lighting at the courts will also be installed in several weeks.
We are working on plans for the Lake Bank Maintenance and beautification. Our Lakes Committee has expanded.
Director, Richard Passera is now chairing this effort. Your Lake Committee members are Paul Keyes, Jim Sheehy
and Denis Scobbo. Their immediate goal is to develop a plan for 2016 and thereafter a multi-year project schedule.
It is our expectation that funding will be made through our regular annual budget process.
The exit swing gates which were damage by a vehicular accident have been repaired and are in operation. The
repair expenses were paid by the insurance company of the vehicle driver.
Pedestrian safety is our mutual responsibility. While new warning signs have been installed, some drivers still
disobey our 25 MPH speed limit. No one should be in such a hurry that they risk the lives of pedestrians, bikers and
pets. The active lifestyle of your neighbors means they are getting exercise and deserve a safe place to walk and bike.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Community Manager, we appreciate your consideration of pedestrians, bikers
and our beloved pets’ safety in your travels.
I would also like to thank Ron Kubinski, affectionately known as “Inspector Gadget”, for his outside LED lighting
projects. They not only look beautiful, but they save us significantly on electricity.
Our Community thrives on Volunteerism. Our gates always seem to be damaged after-hours or on weekends, Jim
Burgess is a man who never lets us down. His mechanical and electrical skills bring a positive response to most
minor emergencies at our gates. Like the above listed persons, Jim and the others make us proud to live in the
Cascades. As President, I get to work with them and enjoy their collaboration. You too can join us by contacting
Linda and letting her know you want to serve.

We are now in the Hurricane Season and I urge residents to be prepared. We are hosting a Seminar on Hurricane
Preparedness on Wednesday, July 15th at 1:00 PM in the clubhouse sponsored by the Estero Fire & Rescue
Department. Please attend and get your questions answered. Many of us have not lived here since Hurricane Charlie
and Wilma. I hope to see you at our seminar.
I wish everyone a very Happy July 4th holiday. May this summer season be enjoyable for you and your family and
friends. Than you all for your support of our efforts.
Enjoy!
Bill
Please note… When placing your trash containers at the curb to be picked
up make sure the silver bar is facing towards the street. This enables
Waste Pro to pick up your trash container properly. Thank You!

Manager’s Memo...
HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE!
Hello Everyone! I do hope all of you are enjoying your summer, we too, are having a good time in “steamy” Florida.
Although many of you are seasonal residents, please know Lynn is still providing some fun summer events for the
owners, so be sure to take a look at the bulletin board for upcoming programs and sign up in the Purple Book,
which is located by the Administrative Office door. If you haven’t signed up yet, a July 4th celebration is scheduled
at noon!
A few repairs have already taken place; we have repainted all the road stripes in the community and added road
reflectors to the Cascades Isle Blvd. A few 25 MPH signs have been added to the Blvd. too. We will be installing the
Women’s Club donation of two benches very soon. The Bocce Courts are done and look great! The Billiards room
has been painted, a clock has been added and all the pool tables have been re-covered, along with the addition of a
few new pool cues. We have many upcoming projects scheduled this summer; re-upholstering the chairs in Card
Room #1, more touch-up painting in the clubhouse, the marble lobby floor will be polished, carpet steam cleaning
throughout the clubhouse, the re-strapping of the pool lounge chairs and pressure washing the common ground
areas. Along with a few more miscellaneous repairs!
Please know that during this current landscaping trim-cycle, Dakota is performing
hard-cuts on certain varieties of shrubs. Now that we are in rainy season, the
weeds in the plant beds and driveways may grow at a rapid speed due to weather
conditions. Dakota is working continuously to keep the weeds under control.
Please be patient; due to inclement weather conditions, services may be pushed
back some. Should you need their assistance, work orders can be located in the
library and dropped off at the Administrative office.
It looks like the Cascades has “mascots” Oscar the otter and his girlfriend Opal are
residing in one of our lakes. Here is a brief update on our lakes appearance, our lakes
have been treated with herbicide which slowly kills the plant at the root, if you see
floating debris on the surface, it is a good sign that the herbicide has submersed and
killed the vegetation beneath. The lakes may at first look worse as the dying vegetation
begins to decompose, but know that our lake maintenance team is on top of it and are
prepared to treat the algae blooms that may appear.
I’d like to thank the Cascades staff and all our vendors that help make Cascades at Estero a fun and beautiful
community to live in.
I wish you and your family a safe and fun-filled July 4th and a great summer to all!
As always, if you need anything please let me know.
3
Happy July 4th!

The Cascades Chorus Celebrates Memorial Day
The Cascades Chorus was pleased to perform for the Memorial Day Program on May
25th in the Cascades Ballroom. The ceremonies were well attended. A video honoring
our military was shown and was narrated by President Ronald Reagan. The chorus sang
“Thank You Soldiers” accompanied by a DVD with memorable music and visuals. Our
Cascades Veterans were asked to stand and be recognized as their Military Anthem was
sung. The residents were asked to sing along with the “Star-Spangled Banner” and
“God Bless America”. Memorial Day was a special day for one and all.
The Cascades Chorus will be resuming our rehearsal schedule on Thursday,
September 3rd, 2015 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. We welcome any Cascades residents
who would like to join. If you enjoy singing or play an instrument, we welcome you to
join us. Our next performance will be for Veteran’s Day on November 11th.
Our Mission Statement is to enjoy singing and to grow musically as we give back to
the Cascades/ Estero Village Community. Come and meet some new residents and
make friends while enjoying music. For more information, you can contact Mary
Carvalho at 239-405-8044 or Dawn McLean at 239-390-9393.

Tri-County Challenger Little League Baseball is a 501 c (3) organization, a league designed for
special needs kids. Children with any type of mental or physical disability can join the league and
play baseball just like regular Little League athletes. There are currently 90 kids and seven teams
from Lee County participating in the Challenger League.
The Cascades Chorus has attended our Opening Day for the past three years and sung the
National Anthem, God Bless America and Take Me Out to the Ballgame. They always do a great job
whenever they perform.
On Saturday, May 9, the 12th Annual Challenger Charity Golf Tournament was held at
Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs. Ninety golfers participated in the Tournament. The
following residents from Cascades participated in the Tournament: Rich Fein, Chris Burgess, Ray
Amara, Al Lefebvre, Tony Clese, Ted Munsch, Jim Sheehy, John Cole, Mike Nye, Dohn Beard,
Steve Susko, and Jo Ann Susko. In addition to the golfers, the following Cascade residents
volunteered their assistance at the Tournament and throughout the season: John Lovett, Rosemary
De Cicco, John Kucko, Ralph Sharp, John Brubaker, and John Newell. Thanks to these special
people, the golf tournament and season were a home run for the children and parents of Challenger
Baseball.
If you want to know more about Tri-County Challenger Baseball please contact Rocky Barron at

A DAY TO BE LONG REMEMBERED IN THE LIVES OF THREE
KOREAN WAR VETERANS...
CASCADES OWNERS:
PHIL ROCCARO, BOB JAWORSKI & PAUL GIACCHETTI
Submitted by Lynn Roccaro
We had the honor of being part of the Collier County Honor
Flight. On Saturday, June 20th, we left RSW Airport, along with
75 WWII and Korean War vets for a chartered flight to
Washington DC. When we landed in Baltimore airport, we were
welcomed by fire trucks that sprayed our plane from both sides
in a water salute. We were escorted all the way into Washington
with a motorcycle and police escort, sirens blazing all the way.
Our day comprised of visiting the WWII Memorial, Korean War
Monument, Iwo Jima Monument and Arlington National Cemetery
(the tomb of the unknown soldier and the changing of the
guards). Senator Bob Dole met with every veteran personally. He
was very impressed to hear that Paul’s six brothers and a
sister-in-law had served during WWII. With Paul’s service in
Korea, the Giacchetti family became known as “The Chicago
Eight”, with a story featured in the Purple Heart Magazine.
Because of the storm delay, we didn’t arrive back into Florida
until 1:30 in the morning. Believe it or not, there were still over
200 men, women and children waiting to greet us. So many
people thanked us for our service it brought tears to our eyes for
their gratitude.
This story would not be complete without thanking the
organizers. We all had breakfast, lunch, dinner, water and
snacks all day long. We all had sponsors that never left our sides
and pushed us all day in wheelchairs. We were given jackets,
hats, shirts and duffle bags. We had a doctor and nurse
accompany us along with a news photographer. They thought of
everything and then some. We were truly blessed by this
amazing day and wonderful experience.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
