D
ear readers, with the year fast drawing to a close, it appears likely Isuzu will record its 25th
consecutive year of Australian truck market leadership at the end of December. That’s
right, our run of sales leadership began way back in 1989 – some of you may have already
been driving Isuzus back then, other readers may have not yet been born! Whatever the
case may be, our ongoing success is only made possible through the continued support of our loyal
customers and owners, so to all who have owned an Isuzu truck over the journey, we sincerely thank
you for making Isuzu trucks your commercial vehicle of choice.
Very few – if any – vehicle manufacturers throughout the world competing in a free market can match
this 25 year achievement. And what of the future? In 1989 you can be sure that Isuzu-General Motors
(as it was known at the time) did not set out to reach 25 years as market leaders. The company’s
goals were simple and still hold true today: to provide Australian truck buyers with the broadest range
available, with an emphasis on reliability. Having the largest Dealer Network in the country and an
outstanding reputation for customer service and support also goes a long way to ensuring success. If
we remain true to these fundamentals of good product and support services, I have no doubt Isuzu’s
reign as market leader will still have some time to run.
Turning our attention to the feature stories in this edition. We continue our coverage of the new 8x4 FY
Series models as more and more customers around Australia are putting the trucks to good use in a
myriad of applications. The last edition featured two FY concrete agitators; this time around we take a
look at the Bingo Group which been using two FYJ 2000s in hooklift bin applications.
Our next feature follows an environmentally friendly NNR 200 owned and operated by Urban Group
Energy. It is being used as a mobile display centre to promote a wide range of technologies aimed at
reducing energy consumption.

and its fleet of car carrying FXD 1000s. Few people give a thought as to how new cars arrive at the
dealership, but chances are if you drive an imported model, Patrick’s have processed it.

IAL has released a video to showcase the off-road abilities of the Isuzu F Series 4x4 range.
Filmed on closed roads at the Australian Automotive Research Centre in
Anglesea, south-west of Melbourne, the video shows the FSS 550 4x4 and
FTS 800 4x4 negotiating various off-road conditions.
The video demonstrates the credentials of the Isuzu F Series 4x4 range
which have been proven through years of service in some of the harshest
operating conditions and on the job demands with Australia’s emergency
services, mining and exploration industries and council applications.
Recent enhancements to the Isuzu F Series off-road range bring new levels
of safety, driver comfort and entertainment features to the iconic nameplate.
IAL recommends operators attend 4x4 driver training prior to driving off-road.
Operators should also thoroughly consult the vehicle owner’s manual before
heading off-road.

AFAC conference
Isuzu recently participated in the Australasian Fire
and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC)
Conference, held in September in Melbourne.
The Isuzu stand showcased an NPS 300 and FTS 800 Auto with fire-fighting
appliance bodies fitted. It also included pictorial displays of Isuzu trucks as
used by various emergency service organisations around Australia.
The AFAC conference included a seminar element that examined how
emergency management services, land managers and communities prepare,
respond to and assist with recovery – all vital to developing evidence-based
policy and practice for the future.

Isuzu’s new humorous television commercial
for the NPR 200 Tradepack has been grabbing
the attention of television viewers.
It features two tradies in a clapped-out old ute
and it’s obvious from their cleverly disguised bad
language they’re jealous of their mate’s shiny new
Isuzu when he turns up on-site.
The aim of the commercial is to promote Isuzu’s
popular ready-to-work NPR 200 Tradepack as the
best choice for tradies looking to make the switch
from their current work vehicle.
The commercial was first aired in mid-September
and is currently screening nationally on several
Foxtel channels, in addition to Tradepack
sponsorships for a range of popular TV shows
such as Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars, and
traffic network sponsorships on Triple M radio.
The campaign was supported by comprehensive
targeted online banner advertising throughout
September and October, as well as a homepage

team
welcomes
a new face
IAL has strengthened its technical
assistance team with the addition of a new
Dealer Technical Consultant, Jason Leckie.
Jason commenced his role at IAL in July, prior to
which he worked at Isuzu dealer, Westar Trucks.
Jason has many years’ experience with Isuzu
products, beginning his career in the motor
industry as an apprentice technician at Westar
Trucks, following which he worked as a
qualified technician for a number of years.
Jason progressed his career within Westar
Trucks to become a service advisor and then
an Isuzu warranty consultant.
Welcome to the team, Jason.
Airpower brings Darwin up to speed on FY Series
Northern Territory Isuzu Trucks dealership, Airpower, recently held a special event to
welcome Isuzu’s new FY Series range to the greater Darwin region.
On the day, Airpower displayed a range of FY Series variants, including a tilt-tray
demonstration truck and two agitators that were ready to be delivered to customers.
Adding to the event was a presentation from existing customer, Halkitis Bros, who previously
purchased two Isuzu FY agitators and shared their positive experiences with potential customers.
Also in attendance representing IAL, were Zone Managers, Alan Miller and Paul Sibley.
“The future of Isuzu’s FY Series range in the Northern Territory looks positive. As a result of
the day, Airpower received several new enquiries about the FY Series models from potential
customers,” Violet Song, Airpower Advertising Coordinator, said.
Airpower also conducted a business card draw during the event, with a great range of
prizes on offer, all from the Isuzu merchandise range.

Leading engineering manager
rejoins Isuzu Trucks
Highly regarded senior commercial vehicle engineer, Simon Humphries, has rejoined IAL as Chief Engineer,
Product Strategy, taking over from Colin White who retires after nine years’ service with the company.
Mr Humphries first joined Isuzu-General Motors
(as it was known at the time) in 1998 as Truck
Sales Engineer, before being promoted to the
senior engineering role in 2001.
In early 2009 he left IAL after successfully
overseeing several large model roll-outs with
the truck market leader, including a 100-plus,
all-new model introduction in 2007 and 2008.
Upon leaving IAL, Mr Humphries joined
Wesfarmers’ Evol LNG where he was Business
Mr Humphries said he was very excited at the
prospect of rejoining IAL after several years
expanding his skill base with Evol and TIC.
“I’m delighted at being given the opportunity to
resume working with IAL,” he said.
“In recent years the company has
restructured its sales department, while the
engineering team has also grown in size –
I’m looking forward to working with both
to ensure we continue to deliver superior
products to our customers.”
IAL Director and Chief Operating Officer, Phil
Taylor, said Mr Humphries’ return to IAL would
yield benefits for both the Isuzu brand and its
customers.
“Simon is highly regarded in the commercial
vehicle industry and will strengthen our
engineering department,” Mr Taylor said.
“His two recent roles have expanded his
knowledge base and industry contacts, and
he returns to IAL able to offer our company
more than ever before – Simon will make a
strong contribution.”

development work in the lead-up to the launch
of Isuzu’s second generation compressed
natural gas range.

Bingo Group cleans
No job too big or small for waste management experts.
B
ingo Group has been helping keep Sydney
gleaming with the aid of its Isuzu fleet,
including two new Isuzu FYJ 2000 8x4
trucks fitted with hook lift bodies.
Since the company was established in 2006,
Bingo Group has been offering a range of waste
management services to residential, commercial
and industrial customers in metropolitan Sydney.
Beginning operations with just four trucks and
100 bins, Bingo Group has come a long way in
the past eight years, developing from a small skip
bin company to offering customers a complete
waste management solution. Today, the company
has a fleet of over 60 trucks, including 45 Isuzus,
approximately 4,000 bins and 110 staff.
Its range of services now includes skip bin hire
and commercial and industrial waste bin hire/
service, while also operating recycling centres and
offering civil services.
Bingo Group operates from several sites across
Sydney, with its head office and workshop located
in Silverwater and its recycling yards in St Peters
and Auburn.
According to Bingo Group’s Internal Sales and
Marketing Manager, Sargon Raoul, the company
stands out from its competitors because it strives
to deliver exceptional customer service.
“We are constantly looking at ways to simplify our
processes so we can provide the best service. We
have a large fleet so we can service our customers
with faster and more reliable turnaround times,”
Mr Raoul said.
“We also invest heavily in marketing our brand
and trucks, and significant resources go towards
training our employees and providing them with
the qualifications they require to do a better job for
our customers.
“We offer the complete package – a one stop
waste management service for all residential,
commercial and industrial needs.”
In addition to Bingo Group’s new Isuzu FYJ 2000
8x4 trucks, its fleet also includes many other
Isuzus ranging from the NQR 450s through to FXZ
1500s. These trucks serve a variety of applications
and are fitted out as skip bin and hook lift trucks
as well as crane trucks and service vehicles.
“Our Isuzu trucks are used to deliver and pick up
our bins from customers. They are used six days a
week and travel approximately 50,000 kilometres
a year. To date, we have not replaced any of our
Isuzus – the oldest is a 2007 model which is still in
good condition,” Mr Raoul said.
“Our trucks are required to operate in rough
conditions, such as in and out of construction sites
and navigating areas with tight access. In most
cases they handle these conditions well.
“We believe Isuzu trucks are great. They are
the most reliable for what we do and through
experience we have discovered they suit our work
conditions best.
The FYJ was recommended to us and the decision
has worked well. We didn’t have any reservations
when purchasing this model even though it is
relatively new to the Isuzu lineup. We knew it
would be very good and we love it.
“The FY Series looks the part and is also very
functional for hooklift applications, the driver
feedback has been very positive,” Mr Raoul said.

ver one million Australian homes and
businesses have switched to solar
power – not only saving them money but
helping the environment as well.
Spreading the good word about renewable energy
is not an easy task; however with the recent
development of the ‘Energy Truck’ – a classroom
on wheels – energy efficiency education just got a
whole lot easier.
Created by energy efficiency specialists, Urban
Group Energy, the Energy Truck delivers a wealth of
information and practical tutorials on solar power
and energy management products at trade shows
and exhibitions.
Based on an Isuzu NNR 200, the Energy Truck
was conceived as a fully equipped interactive
demonstration unit which can also be used
as a roadshow solution for potential renewable
energy clients.
Urban Group Energy’s products and solutions help
businesses reduce their energy consumption by
utilising the latest equipment and technology.
Employing a staff of 100, Urban Group Energy has
offices in Sydney and Erina, New South Wales.
According to Marketing Manager, Kim Bradley, the
Energy Truck cab chassis matches a long list of
requirements.
“We need a vehicle small enough to drive with
a car licence, yet large enough to showcase our
entire product range,” Kim said.
“Flexibility is also an important factor as we
required a cab chassis that would be easy to
customise and fit out.
“In addition, we wanted to buy from a reputable
brand we can trust.
“Product reliability is also important as the Energy
Truck is destined to travel long distances around
Australia.”
The custom-made truck van body is designed to
provide an interactive hands-on experience and was
built by specialised local body builders, Westrucks,
located in Wetherill Park, New South Wales.
The fit out includes a large lighting display which
offers a real-time demonstration of the lighting
efficiency of varying products – the energy
consumption control panel easily and effectively
establishes and compares the energy consumption
of selected products.
Kim said the Isuzu NNR 200 has many appealing
features.
“The size of the truck is a perfect fit for showrooms
and exhibitions,” she said.
“It is a great talking piece and delivers endless
possibilities in lead generation, rapid sales and
return on investment.
“The truck’s modern design goes well with Urban
Group Energy’s corporate look.”
Kim mentioned feedback from the drivers has been
very positive.
“A select few have driven the truck so far and are
surprised at how user-friendly the NNR 200 is,”
she said.
“They said the truck was quite easy to manoeuver
into showrooms.
“Everyone agrees the truck provides a comfortable
and easy drive.”
The showcased products include LED down lights,
LED shop lights, fluorescent lights and banks,
halogen down lights, halogen shop lights, tunnel
lights and highbay lights.
The Energy Truck is ideal for generating a wealth of
sales leads at trade shows, shopping centres and
conferences by displaying the benefits of efficient

ew who saw will ever forget legendary
Olympic swim coach Laurie Lawrence’s
animated pool side demeanor as he
cheered his young charger, Duncan
Armstrong, to Gold in the 200 freestyle final at the
Seoul games in 1988.
Fortunately Laurie’s passion for winning is only
surpassed by his passion and commitment to
raise children’s water awareness through the
‘Kids Alive’ program.
Laurie started the Kids Alive program in 2000 after
he learned that around 63 children under the age of
five were drowning in Australia each year.
Kids Alive team now travels all over Australia to
perform to school groups.
“The Kids Alive program began with the help of media
outlets such as Channels 7, 9, 10 and CRA, who
played radio and television ads which were designed
to generate awareness amongst parents. As a result,
the number of drownings decreased to 35.”
Along with the Australian Automotive Dealers
Association (AADA) and Gold Coast Isuzu, Isuzu
Australia Limited has supported the program which
provided an Isuzu NPR 200 truck for the Kids Alive
team to use as they travel around Australia raising
water safety awareness.
In addition to the advertisements, Laurie created a
water safety pantomime show for children, which
incorporated an educational song and dance
teaching them how to stay safe by the pool. The

mobile billboard for the program.
“It’s an excellent truck. We visit towns all over
Australia free of charge and schools can come and
visit us to see the show,” Laurie said.
“We use the Isuzu truck to carry all of our audio
visual equipment. A senior member of the on-road
team is responsible for driving the truck to the next
location each time.
To further spread the safety message, Laurie has
developed an educational DVD that is provided free
of charge to new mothers in hospital.
“Over one million DVDs about water safety have
been given to new parents thanks to the Federal
Government,” Laurie said.
“We now have achieved the lowest record of preschool children drowning, with the total reducing
from 35 to 21. We are aiming to be the first country
in the world with no preschool drownings.”
Isuzu Business Planning Manager, Paul Evans,
said contributing to the Kids Alive program was a
great opportunity to help educate Australians about
keeping children safe by the water.
“Isuzu Australia Limited was delighted to contribute
to Laurie’s Kids Alive program and help prevent
the tragic drowning of children under five through
education and awareness,” Paul said.

othing beats picking up a brand new
car – the sparkling paint, that ‘new car’
smell, but few give any thought to how
new cars arrive at the dealership.
For all vehicles, the journey begins at the docks or
a local manufacturing facility; it’s then the delicate
task of companies such as Patrick Autocare, to
ensure the precious cargo gets delivered safely
and reliably to the dealership.
For more than 50 years, Patrick Autocare has set

“With Isuzu’s extensive range of models, we were
able to find a truck that suited our requirements.”
The most recent purchase was an FXD 1000
which is currently being used as a metro car
carrier in the eastern Australian states.
The new addition is fitted with a custom-made
hybrid trailer which can carry up to four cars.
The company worked closely with truck and trailer
body builder, D’Angelo’s, located in Laverton
North, Victoria to build a trailer meeting the strict
requirements for metro vehicle delivery.
To enable the truck to easily manoeuver around
dealerships and tight residential streets, the trailer
is only 14.5 metres long.
For greater safety the hybrid trailer design allows
loading of the top decks from ground level, the decks
then hydraulically lift into position which in turn
removes the need for the driver to work at height.
Joe said the FXD 1000’s features are well
matched for their metro car carrying trailer.
“The truck’s power output (257 kW @ 2,000 RPM)
is ideal to tow the custom-made four-car carrier,”
he said.
“Chassis length and height were also important
factors for us allowing easy mounting of the trailer.
“Furthermore, the FXD 1000’s GCM of 36,000 kg
is just right to carry the weight of four cars.”

their expectations.”

frequently attends Victoria’s most popular
music festivals.
Born in 2006, the original Vanessa began
as a program and a vehicle to deliver the Transport
Accident Commission’s (TAC) road safety messages
to young people at high-risk events such as music
festivals and street parties. Vanessa’s key message
is ‘your mate’s life is in your hands’.
The latest mobile entertainment/education centre was
created by advertising gurus, the Lifelounge Agency,
and is built on a new Isuzu FTR 900 cab chassis.
According to Road Safety Manager, Samantha
Cockfield, the Isuzu FTR 900 model is well suited to
accommodate the high safety standards required
by the TAC.
“When looking for a new truck for the Vanessa
program, we had to ensure that it reflects the
road safety messages we are delivering,”
Samantha said.
“We changed the back bench seat to individual
seats with separate restraints.
“For added safety, we also installed a GPS tracking
system that provides advice to the driver about speed
limits, bridge heights and other safety issues.”
In conjunction with providing awareness about road
safety, Vanessa also houses breathalyzer machines
so festival goers can test their blood alcohol
content for free before they drive home.
Furthermore, Vanessa also offers a ‘chill out’ space for
those who want to take some time out from the event.
When on board, visitors can help themselves to
a free photo booth, watch the TAC’s ‘Make a film,
make a difference’ films and music videos, play
retro video games or just relax on couches and
have a break from the festival.
In order to appeal to the young adult demographic,
Vanessa was conceived as a separate subsidiary
brand of the TAC, without using the more corporate
look and feel of the TAC.

meet the requirements of the Vanessa program and
includes a hydraulic roof that turns the truck into
a two storey, five metre high viewing platform that

The raised platform also has couches and a retro
games console so that festival goers can relax but
still see the stage, so they don’t miss out on any of
their favourite bands.
Samantha said the FTR 900 chassis was the ideal
fit for the program’s requirements.
“We wanted a truck that adheres to the Australian
Legal Road requirements,” Samantha said.
“The FTR 900 comes with a standard ECE-R29
compliant cab which is a big tick for us.
“For extra safety, we fitted the optional reversing
cameras and extra seatbelts.
“A dual cabin was also a must as we need to be
able to seat and transport at least five staff.”
The vehicle was designed to allow a constant and
natural progression of foot traffic. Patrons can wander
through the vehicle and enjoy engaging with the staff
and activities at their own leisure. The inbuilt slide-out
stairways allow multiple entry/exit points from the
side and back and allow sections of the vehicle to be
separated during high foot traffic times.
This allows Vanessa to be completely self-sufficient
at events.
The truck body was built from the ground up in
over 10 months and was project managed by event
production experts, the District Agency. A long
wheelbase was added and an additional ‘lazy axle’
was installed to accommodate the weight of the
12.5 metre long body.
According to Samantha, the Vanessa crew finds the
truck enjoyable and easy to drive.
“Despite the large size of the truck, it is easy to
drive and has a great turning circle,” she said.
“Vanessa can get through most tight streets
without a hitch.”
This is the Vanessa program’s eighth year on the
road and it’s estimated over one million Victorians
are engaged through the program at music
festivals and other events annually.
Furthermore, its inbuilt hydraulic stabilisation
ensures a level venue for patron safety.
Inside, the truck body is decorated in a retro style
‘70s theme with an authentic shag pile carpet and
customised wallpaper.
For added flexibility, Vanessa was designed to run
using site power or through an inbuilt generator
that can supply the entire vehicle’s power needs.

owner, Bede Murray, established his
horse training business, Murray Racing
with his wife Edie over 50 years ago.
The main facility is located at Kembla Grange south
of Wollongong, New South Wales, where Bede has
over 100 horses in his care and employs a staff of
18, including his sons Paul and Graeme.
Murray Racing’s services are tailored for
thoroughbreds. They comprise race horse training,
stud work, breeding and hiring agistment and
‘spelling’ (a place for horses to rest in between races).
Bede has a knack for picking out winners and his
training methods have resulted in champions such
as Universal Prince, Coniston Bluebird, Hussars
Command, Half Hennessy and Victory Vein.
According to Bede, Isuzu trucks have made a good
impression on the company.
“This is my second Isuzu horse float. When it was
time to upgrade to a larger vehicle, we knew that
the Isuzu FSD 700 was the truck for us as we never

of the horses and be adaptable for any type of
situation,” he said.
“We had the truck body interior fitted with
individual rubber padded stalls to cater for up to
nine horses.
“For extra flexibility, the float is equipped with
specially designed partitions that can be adjusted
depending on the horses’ size.
“The FSD 700 has a passenger area behind the cab
for our strappers (race horse carers) travelling with
the horses and plenty of storage for the racing gear.
According to Bede, the new truck drives effortlessly
on the road.
“The truck handles hills and steep inclines with
ease, even with nine horses in the back of the
float,” he said.
“At times, the interstate trips can take up to 10 hours.
The FSD 700’s easy ride makes the long trips a lot
more comfortable for both the driver and horses.”

The new Brisbane operation provides faster, more

customers and also houses the offices of IAL’s
Queensland based regional zone managers.
IAL Director – IT, Engine & Parts Operations,
Peter Rutkis, said the new facility was already
yielding benefits.
“Parts delivery times have been cut substantially
since the facility opened,” Mr Rutkis said.
“Brisbane Airport offers a daily air service to Papua
New Guinea and is ideally situated to service other
locations in the South Pacific so it made sound
business sense to develop a site in Brisbane.
“We are meeting the high parts demand in
Queensland and the South Pacific with ease,”
he said.
“We will continue to further enhance our parts
delivery processes and look forward to meeting
our customers’ parts needs well into the future
with this new facility.”
Intelligent
transport
systems gain
momentum
I
ntelligent transport systems (ITS) are becoming
more commonplace within the Australian
transport industry and can provide a range of
benefits for road transport operators and their
customers, truck drivers and other road users, and
the various authorities responsible for managing and
maintaining the road and other transport networks.
The Department of Infrastructure and Regional
Development defines ITS as “any technology
applied to transport and infrastructure to transfer
information between systems for improved safety,
productivity and environmental performance.”
ITS can be divided into three basic categories
covering autonomous in-vehicle systems, vehicle to
vehicle systems and vehicle to infrastructure systems.

variable speed limits, tolling, and driving distance
and time monitoring systems for heavy transport are
examples of vehicle to infrastructure systems.
A policy framework developed by the government
provides a guide to ensure that the development
and use of technology in ITS is compatible from
jurisdiction to jurisdiction and fits with the shared
vision of safe, sustainable, efficient, reliable and
integrated transport.
A seminar was recently conducted by the Transport
Industry Council (TIC) and provided an overview
of the state of play in ITS in Australia, the roles
and responsibilities of the various regulatory and
management authorities and examples of how the
technologies are employed in other countries.

seminar provided an informative and timely forum
to discuss the developments of ITS in Australia.
Melbourne will soon be in the international
spotlight with the 23rd international ITS Summit
scheduled for October 2016. Importantly, host
cities and nations often reap long term benefits
from such events with technology and systems
installed as part of demonstration trials for the
summit remaining in place following the event. This
provides ongoing value to the local industry through
the direct use of the technology and also feeds into
the overall national experience and knowledge.
We will be providing updates in the lead up to
the summit and will progressively explore some
different technologies in use in ITS.
In-vehicle ITS systems have been a part of daily
driving life in most modern vehicles for some time
now, most recognisably in the form of safety features
such electronic stability control, adaptive cruise
control and more recently lane departure monitoring.
Vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure
technology has also become more commonplace
with examples of the former including collision
avoidance and emergency notification systems, while
the monitoring, collection and relay of information

T
he IAL Product Development team recently
took delivery of a wooden floor tray body
to match the truck’s vintage look. The
custom era-specific design of the body was
influenced by industry stalwarts Harry, Frank and
Rod of Austruck Truck bodies in Seaford, Victoria.
Working to the requirements of ‘ye good ol days’,
Austruck designed and built the tray body to
replicate what would have been the norm in 1979.
The body sports an authentic Tasmanian oak
wooden floor, incandescent lighting and the ever
faithful ‘U’ bolts. It was an unusual build in our
modern times of particle board and LED lamps.

The truck interior has also been the focus of special
attention with the re-skinned dash pad finding its
place in the cabin alongside the re-trimmed seats
and newly restored instrument panels, all given life
through a revitalised electrical system.
As the project draws to a close in the coming
months the much loved Isuzu SBR from Dandenong
will have its end of line mechanical checks before
returning to B&K Panels for a final polish.

Functioning similar to a tipper, the truck body

St. George Foodservice – FRR 600
Leading Sydney foodservice distributor, St.
George Foodservice, has recently purchased an
Isuzu FRR 600 to meet the needs of businesses
in the foodservice industry.
The company distributes quality small goods,
cheeses, poultry, fresh meats, frozen, grocery,
cleaning, beverage and packing products.
The truck has a custom-built eight pallet back
box with a thermostatically controlled movable
internal wall to break up frozen and chilled
sections in any configuration. It also includes
L.E.D lighting, a separate chemical box and
custom-made side and back pull-out aluminum
steps with warning indicators.
Sales Manager, Jim Hondros, said he is
impressed with the truck’s features.
“The automated transmission and cruise control
make my life easier - no more stop-starting in
peak hour traffic,” Jim said.
“The truck’s power output is also more than
enough for the goods we carry.”
“The truck is a mobile billboard for my newly
established business. I have been operating
excavators and skid steer loaders for 25 years,
but have recently moved into the waste bin line
of work.
“I had a great experience with North East
Isuzu. Rock Pinneri and David Lorenzo from the
dealership’s engineering department were great
to work with and assisted me in modifying the
truck to suit my needs.”
Based in Research, Victoria, the business
currently employs eight workers and runs a
fleet of six Isuzu trucks which consists of, an
old FVD 950, FVD 1000, FXY 1400 and new
FXY 1500 Auto, all fitted with green garbage
compactor bodies, and a smaller NPR 350
which is used to transport the mini skips.
Business Partner, Jon Jupp, said Isuzu trucks
are ideal for the waste management industry.
“I enjoy driving the FVD 1000 as it’s very zippy
and great for metropolitan areas. It loves the
hills. The FXY 1500 Auto is also a great choice
for hilly areas,” Jon said.
“The Isuzu trucks are very nice. It’s not just the
way they drive, it’s the whole package. They
have smooth transmissions and comfortable
interiors. The heated mirrors are a nice touch
during early winter mornings.
“The trucks’ tight turning circles, due to their
short wheelbases, are very helpful when
maneuvering in and out of small spaces.”

Trimad – NPR Tradepack
Plant Hire company, Renfrey, specialises in
bulk earthworks, load haul and major civil,
infrastructure and mining projects.
Adelaide based Architectural cladding
company, Trimad, recently acquired two new
NPR 200 Tradepacks to transport tools and
building materials.
In order to get the job done, Renfrey acquired
a new heavy duty Isuzu FYH 2000 which is
used as a water truck for dust suppression,
compaction, stabilisation on haul roads and
mining and construction sites.
The FYH 2000 has a 17,000 litre water tank
body with dual remote control water cannons
mounted front and rear, a dribble bar, hose reel
and suction pumps. It also has air operated
safety rails for top access.
Purchasing Officer, Andrew Whitfield, said the
vehicle has been fitted with a monitoring system,
GPS tracking, fire suppression system, reverse
cameras and roll over protection structure and
falling object protective structures.
Noel and Judy Schwartz
– NPR 200 Tradepack
Western Australian duo, Noel and Judy
Schwartz, have turned their Isuzu NPR 200
Tradepack into a mobile home away from home.
The two trucks have been fitted with custommade under tray tool boxes. Each tool box is
fitted out identically with tools and on-site kit.
They also have an under tray PVC water tank
with two taps, a 7.5 kva generator, digging gear
and lockable storage areas.
The truck tows a 21 foot caravan and carries
a 4x4 quad bike, twin 120 water tanks and a
main storage area which is fitted with triple 90
watt solar panels and roll out drawers for tools.
Director, Scott Taylor, said the trucks are well
suited for the demanding job.
“The extra visibility of being in a large vehicle
has been very helpful as is the ability for us to
drive the truck on a car licence,” Noel said.
“The trucks are extremely comfortable on long
road trips, very economical, reliable and look
great on the road,” Scott said.
“We even had clients call us mentioning they
have seen them on the road and would like to
meet up to discuss a project.
“We have received positive feedback from the
operators – they love the truck’s comfort,”

“In the past we have used a Mitsubishi Pajero
and a Toyota Landcruiser as tow vehicles but

Entrepreneur and business owner, Jim White,
has transformed an Isuzu NNR 200 into a
mobile southern style BBQ kitchen.
B & J Leach Transport – FVY 1400
Access equipment transporter, B & J Leach,
has taken on a new FVY 1400 to deliver
scissor lifts, boom lifts and forklifts to clients
around metro Melbourne.
Located in the harsh outback of South Australia,
the Coober Pedy District Council has recently
purchased two new Isuzu trucks, a FRR 500 and
FVR 1000, to help with council maintenance.
Visiting a range of Victorian music festivals
and events, the Smokin’ Barrys truck provides
mouthwatering slow cooked meats and a
delicious selection of salads for those who have
worked up an appetite.
The FVR 1000 is fitted with a garbage
compactor body while the FRR 500 has a
hydraulic tilt tip tray to transport skip bins.
Jim plans to start a franchise which will
exclusively use Isuzu trucks.
Business Owner, Brett Leach, said he is a big
fan of Isuzu trucks.
The Isuzu NNR 200 has a custom-made van
body with a fully equipped kitchen which
includes a gas fryer, gas oven, cold salad bar,
fridge and freezer.
“This is our third Isuzu and we didn’t even
consider another brand since our other two
Isuzus have been so reliable,” Brett said.
Works Manager, Jan Van Der Merwe, said
the Isuzu trucks are well-suited for the harsh
environment of Coober Pedy.
“The semi–auto feature is a big favourite for
the driver.
“They are very happy to jump in and don’t want
to get out!
“The size of the truck is ideal for my business
as it is small enough to be driven on a car
licence,” Jim said.
“The NNR 200 has a great turning circle and is
easy to drive through tight streets.”
