Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to meet other fans, talk Razorback sports (there were a lot of discussions surrounding the upcoming football season!) and “network”. Unfortunately Coach McDonnell had to be in Atlanta, but did tell us he would like to attend some future club events. Contact Us: [email protected] Doyle Groff – President 479-366-1209 Until we develop our new website (due to support issues with our current site), your best places for information on remaining 2008 club events will be this informational page along with our ENews. “Show Me the Money!” - $5,000 Putting Contest Winner Dean Carter of Springdale made a miraculous 50-foot putt at the club’s 7th Annual Razorback Classic Celebrity Scramble held on Saturday, May 31st at Bella Vista Country Club to claim the $5,000.00 putting contest prize, sponsored by Vacation Rentals, Inc. Dean (shown on the right in the picture) recently received his prize check from the club. Hog Helmet Needs Your Help… The Hog Helmet is in the body shop getting its new coat of Razorback Red paint just in time to make it to the Trough for the first game on August 30th! The painting and insurance costs alone are over $2,000.00 and a new trailer is needed. If you want to see this icon from former Razorback days in the Trough on game days, please go to www.hoghelmet.com and donate via PayPal. Upcoming Events: “Beat Texas Ultimate Tailgate” Saturday, Sept. 13th The Gardens on the U of A campus Gates open at 1:30 If you’re heading to Austin for the game with the Longhorns on September 13th, we have information later in the newsletter on several activities the Arkansas Alumni Association is hosting prior to the game on the 12th and 13th in Austin. But, if you’re not heading to Austin, come join local Razorback fans at the “Beat Texas Ultimate Tailgate” event at the beautiful, shaded U of A campus Gardens tailgating area. View the televised Arkansas/Texas game on giant screens provided by Signature Bank. Enjoy a catered meal and complimentary beverages (2 tickets provided, extra beverages available for purchase). Raffle prizes and a door prize will be given. Tickets are limited. Bring your lawn chairs. Tickets are $30/individual or $50/couple. Proceeds benefit the NWA Chapter of Executive Women International and its non-profit programs and scholarships. For more information, contact Shellie Morrison at [email protected] or 479-444-8626. “John McDonnell Tribute Dinner” Thurs., Randal A tribute dinner to honor former Arkansas head track th and field and cross country September 18 coach John McDonnell has been scheduled by the University of Tyson Track Arkansas Athletic Department for the evening of Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville. Tickets are $50.00 per person To purchase tickets, contact the Razorback Foundation at (479) 443-9000. Various levels of sponsorships are available. Or you can contact [email protected]. “Are you Ready for Some Football!?!” To the delight of most Razorback fans, the 2008 football season is almost here… Our club has had some great sponsors thus far in 2008 and thought we’d highlight some of them, as you get ready for attending games (here and away), tailgating, hosting Razorback parties and experiencing what should be an exciting, yet challenging, Razorback football season! On the Way to the Game: Don’t forget to pick up cash for the game at one of PArvest’s many NWA banks or ATM locations. P Hawg Express Bella Vista and Bentonville members take note! Bypass the traffic and parking (as well as high gas prices!) at Fayetteville Razorback games by taking the Hawg Express… For $20 per person per game (you can sign up for 1 game or all 5), you receive travel to/from Fayetteville for the game, a Subway meal and drink. The bus will leave from Highlander Plaza at 1700 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista (a 2nd pick-up stop in Bentonville may be added) in plenty of time for you to enjoy the game and all of its festivities. For instance, for the Western Illinois 6:00 night game on August 30th, the bus leaves Bella Vista at 4:00 p.m. Seating is limited to the first 56 people per game, so contact PattiJenkins@EdwardJones or 479-8761742 for more information! Tailgating: Get your tailgate banner printed at Arkansas, Sign & Banner, located at 2107 S. Walton Blvd. in Bentonville. Pick up BBQ for tailgating or Razorback parties at Whole Hog Café. They have two locations in the Northwest PArkansas area – 1400 SE Walton Blvd., Bentonville Pand 3009 North College (Fiesta Square) in Fayetteville. Arkansas Alumni Association Events in Austin The Arkansas Alumni Association is hosting several events in Austin in association with the Texas game: Fri. – Sept. 12 Hog Happy Hour on Lady Bird Lake – 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Hyatt Regency 208 Barton Springs Road Austin, Texas The Arkansas Alumni Association invites members and their guests to the patio of the Hyatt Regency for an appreciation reception. A private cash bar will be open on the veranda. Cedar Street charges a cover, but no additional fees will be charged. Sat. – Sept. 13 Arkansas vs. Texas Pre-Game Rally – 12:00 noon Presented by the Arkansas Alumni Association and Arkansas Athletics Recreational Sports Center UT Campus (next to the Stadium) Austin, Texas All alumni and Razorback fans are invited to join the Arkansas Alumni Association for a pre-game rally prior to the 2:30 p.m. kickoff. Lunch will be catered by the Iron Cactus: pulled pork, marinated chipotle chicken, jalapeno cheddar sausage, cilantro potato salad, and charro beans. Ice tea and water are included, and a cash bar will be available. $20 per pre-registered Arkansas Alumni Association or Razorback Foundation member $25 per pre-registered non-member $10 per child, 12 and under (children 3 and under are free) Register online at www.arkalum.org/travel/roadtrips/1168.php Ticket Exchange We are still experiencing difficulties updating information on upcoming events on our website at www.bbvrazorbackclub.org, but information on the club and our ticket exchange are still valid. The exchange allows you to post tickets for sale or tickets wanted. If you have any tickets for sale to either Fayetteville or Little Rock games, there are members who are looking for tickets on the exchange!
