during the past year. Each year, Gibbons School set goals for
learning improvement and come up with strategies to meet our
goals. This year we focused on improving literacy for our students
as well as differentiated instruction by our teachers. These areas
continue to be important for student success. Student well-being
was another area of focus and we have made significant progress in
this area as well. I was pleased to see from our ‘OurSchoolSurvey’
that our students rated their relationships with teachers very high. I
know this is because of our caring, committed staff who enjoy
teaching this great group of kids at Gibbons School.

Information You Need to Know
Lunch Time
A closed campus exists to assist the school in ensuring a safe and caring
environment. Students are not allowed off school premises unless a parent
contacts the school via phone/note to have the student attend an
appointment or be involved in a specific activity. Should you have any
questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact Mrs. Kristine
Wilkinson, Principal, or Mr. Iain Jamieson, Vice Principal.
Bikes & Scooters
A reminder that the skate park is not school property, and students are not
permitted there during school hours. Students must wear helmets while
riding bikes and scooters, and please always remember to lock up your
bike/scooter while at school.
Severe Nut Allergies
We have students who have severe allergic reactions to nuts. If exposed to
nuts, their reaction may place them in a life-threatening situation. In providing as safe an environment as possible, we encourage our students to not
share their food with others. If students are bringing treats for others, we ask
that they be free of nut products. Your assistance in limiting these products
being brought into the school is appreciated. We would also ask parents/
guardians to inform the school if their child(ren) have any life threatening
allergies so that we may better protect your children’s health. Please contact
the school office at (780) 923-2240.
Absentee Check
If your child will be absent for the day please contact the school as soon as
possible at 780-923-2240. Absentee checks will be done each morning, and
automated calls will be made to verify attendance for those students marked
absent.
