What We Heard
In the summer of 2015, the community shared general feedback
on the improvements they would like to see at Vic West Park.
The most common feedback included the following requests:
• Fenced in dog area, with increased seating
• Upgrades to the playground: natural play, climbing structures, water features, zipline
• Improvements to the skate park
• Lighted areas – walking paths, park areas, leash optional area
• More seating – picnic tables and benches, community picnic area
• Community gardens
• Water fountains, for people and dogs
• Improvements to sports fields – grading, better maintenance, more seating
• More trees
Next Steps
Based on what we hear from you this fall, the City will
finalize a plan to guide future improvements to this park.
These improvements will be phased over a number of years.

The proposed dog off-leash area is relocated
to a new one hectare space off Wilson Street
to take advantage of exposed bedrock as a skills
and agility training area.

2 Improved Playground
A larger playground is proposed for children
from ages two to 12. The playground would
be moved out from under the tree canopy.

Proposed improvements to the primary ball
diamond located off Wilson Street, include:

4 Community Garden
Community gardens are sites where
community volunteers from a non-profit
society grow and harvest food, flowers,
and/or native plants.
This flat, sunny site in Vic West Park is
proposed as a future space for a community
garden, to be designed and managed by a local
community group.

Drinking Fountains
Two new water bottle filling stations are proposed as part
of the park improvements:
• At Wilson Street park entrance, adjacent to public washroom
• At skate park
Proposed Pathway Improvements
• Improvements to existing multi-use pathway connecting Wilson Street
to Esquimalt Road, including paving and lighting
• New gravel pathway connection between Bay Street and Wilson Street
• Improved paved pathway connection to skate park
Shaded Seating Areas
Two new seating areas with sun shades:
• At the playground, with a new entry plaza and benches
• At the skate park
Future Improvements to Washrooms
• Upgrades to the existing washroom at Wilson Street entrance
